Hello there,
I'm excited to share some information about our team at ICEDT, and how we are well-positioned to support the LEAP Project.
Our Co-founder and President, Uche Nwaobi, is an amazing leader and expert in educational technology. With over 25 years of classroom teaching experience and 5 years of Edtech training across Nigeria, he has the knowledge and skills to guide our team towards success.
In addition to Uche's leadership, we have a highly qualified training and product team that is dedicated to providing the best resources and support for educators. We work closely with the heads of these departments to ensure that our efforts are aligned and effective.
One of our key strengths is our ability to organize impactful conferences and events, both in-person and online. Over the years, we have reached over 15,000 educators across Nigeria and beyond, and we have received a lot of positive feedback on the value of our training and resources.
Moreover, we have experience with large-scale projects such as the PIX Challenge Nigeria and the CSCode Nigeria competition. These initiatives aimed to teach coding and robotics to students aged 7 to 18, and were sponsored by Edulab (Poland) and Nordic in partnership with the BBC Microbit Foundation. Our team members played a crucial role in organizing and executing these projects, and we learned a lot from the experience.
Finally, we are passionate about empowering educators and helping them make a positive impact on their students' lives. This is reflected in the various partnerships and collaborations we have established with other organizations, as well as Uche's regular participation in empowerment and motivational programs.
Overall, we believe that our team is well-equipped to support the LEAP Project and contribute to its success. We are committed to making a difference in the world through education and technology, and we look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with other like-minded individuals and organizations.

The International Community for Educational Technology (ICEDT) is an organization that is committed to providing educators with the necessary tools, resources, and knowledge to integrate educational technology into their classrooms and communities. Before building the organization, the ICEDT team conducted extensive research to better understand the needs of teachers and the school community.
During this research, the ICEDT team organized 28 in-person conferences across 24 states in Nigeria, as well as over 10 online conferences, impacting over 10,000 educators with attendance from different parts of the globe. These conferences provided an opportunity for the ICEDT team to engage with educators and to receive feedback on their needs and challenges. Through this engagement, the ICEDT team was able to gain valuable insights into the specific challenges facing educators in different regions, as well as the resources and tools that would be most useful in supporting their work.
One of the key findings from the research was the need for continuous professional development and support for educators to effectively integrate educational technology into their teaching. This finding led to the development of ICEDT's training and membership programs, which provide educators with globally recognized industry standards and certifications, premium resources, online courses, mentorship programs, and networking opportunities. The research also highlighted the need for schools, institutions, and government agencies to receive support in implementing educational technology successfully. This finding led to the development of ICEDT's device deployment and corporate training programs.

At ICEDT, we believe that engaging in a LEAP project would be a great opportunity to strengthen the evidence base of our solution. Our organization has always been committed to improving education through the use of technology. However, we understand the need to have a solid evidence base to validate our solution's impact on learning outcomes for underserved children.
Through the LEAP project, we would have access to a global pool of highly capable research and entrepreneurial fellows who would bring their expertise to our venture. These fellows would offer tailor-made solutions to strengthen our evidence base, which would help us improve our theory of change and, in turn, enhance the impact of our solution.
We are also excited about the prospect of receiving tangible deliverables such as roadmaps, strategic analysis, or research frameworks, which would aid in improving our solution. The professionally-managed project facilitation provided by MIT Solve would also allow us to focus solely on the most critical elements of the project, which would ensure that we maximize the benefits of the project.
Furthermore, the networking opportunities across the global cohort of LEAP Fellows and project hosts would provide us with the opportunity to learn from other organizations and exchange ideas, which would ultimately contribute to our growth and development.
In conclusion, the LEAP project presents a unique opportunity for ICEDT to accelerate our impact and enhance the quality of education for underserved children ages 2-12. We believe that now is the right time to engage in a LEAP project to help us achieve our goal of improving education through technology
Here are some potential research questions that we would like our LEAP Project to help us answer:
- What are the biggest barriers preventing teachers and schools from adopting and implementing our solution, and how can we address these challenges to increase uptake and adoption?
- What is the relationship between teacher training and student achievement, and how can we best measure this relationship?
- What are the most effective strategies for scaling our educational technology solution to reach a wider audience of underserved children ages 2-12?
- Formative research (e.g. usability studies; feasibility studies; case studies; user interviews; implementation studies; pre-post or multi-measure research; correlational studies)
- Summative research (e.g. correlational studies; quasi-experimental studies; randomized control studies)
To address our research questions, we anticipate that a combination of formative and summative research methods will be necessary.
At the end of the 12-week LEAP Project sprint, we hope to produce a number of outputs. These could include a report outlining the biggest barriers to adoption of our solution and recommendations for addressing these challenges, as well as an analysis of the relationship between teacher training and student achievement, with recommendations for how to best measure this relationship. Additionally, we hope to develop a clear set of effective strategies for scaling our educational technology solution to reach a wider audience of underserved children ages 2-12, along with a roadmap for implementing these strategies.
We will utilize the outputs of the LEAP Project to inform our strategic decision-making and guide our actions. The findings and recommendations from the report on barriers to adoption will be carefully reviewed and incorporated into our implementation plan. We will work towards addressing these barriers through targeted interventions, such as refining our solution's features or improving our outreach and engagement strategies with teachers and schools.
The analysis of the relationship between teacher training and student achievement, along with the recommended measurement approach, will be instrumental in evaluating the impact of our solution on student outcomes. We will use this information to refine our teacher training program and ensure that it aligns with best practices for improving student achievement. This may involve revising our training materials, providing additional support to teachers, or implementing ongoing assessments to measure student progress.
The strategies for scaling our educational technology solution will be incorporated into our long-term growth plan. We will carefully review and prioritize the recommended strategies based on their feasibility and potential impact. We will then work towards implementing these strategies, which may include expanding our reach to new geographic areas, forming strategic partnerships, securing additional funding, or leveraging technology platforms for wider dissemination.
Overall, the outputs of the LEAP Project will be actively utilized by ICEDT to drive our actions and ensure that we are making evidence-based decisions to strengthen our solution's impact on teachers and students.
We have several desired short-term and long-term outcomes for our organization and solution through the 12-week LEAP Project sprint.
Short-term outcomes:
- Improved understanding of the biggest barriers preventing teachers and schools from adopting and implementing our solution, and how we can address these challenges to increase uptake and adoption.
- Identification of the key factors that influence the relationship between teacher training and student achievement, and how we can best measure this relationship.
- A comprehensive plan for scaling our educational technology solution to reach a wider audience of underserved children ages 2-12, based on effective strategies identified through research.
Long-term outcomes:
- Increased uptake and adoption of our solution among teachers and schools, resulting in improved educational outcomes for students.
- A clear understanding of the relationship between teacher training and student achievement, which will guide the development of future programs and interventions aimed at improving educational outcomes.
- Successful scaling of our educational technology solution to reach a wider audience of underserved children, leading to increased access to quality education and improved educational outcomes.
Overall, our goal is to leverage the expertise of the LEAP Fellows to strengthen the evidence base of our solution and develop a clear path for increasing its impact on education. Through the LEAP Project sprint, we aim to not only improve the effectiveness of our solution but also create a sustainable model for its implementation and scaling in the long term.
