Wild Women of the Woods
We, the Wild Women of the Woods (WWW), the founding members of the Dzunuk'wa Society are living & working to protect the last of the Old growth Trees on Turtle Island. We began our work together at the Fairy Creek blockade Canada's largest act of civil disobedience with over 1000 arrests. We know that the government is not listening to the wisdom holders of our traditional territories who know we must protect Mother Earth. The government has again and again backed industry in total destructive resource extraction. We realize Chief & Councils do not always represent communities as a whole...unfortunately more often then not these councils have been drawn into the world of profit for survival due to the cultural genocide of our people.
Our goal as Wild Women of the Woods & Friends of the Forest is to bring our communities together to help share information with communities newly facing this mega giant of unwanted industry on their traditional territories.
Separated we are few...but when we come together and unite we can save Mother Earth and begin to face the growing fiery fact that the code red climate emergency is real and we must act NOW.
So we connect with each others communities online and then we will travel to connect to give workshops and information sessions. We would love to create an app, podcast a place for WWW & Friend of the Forest to come together, get information, cultural knowledge & to stay up to date on what the main stream media ignores.
The call of the forest will touch all hearts who are ready to listen. Uniting all of humanity in the name of Mother Earth is our Wild Womens calling. We are divided. Our communities, the environmental movement..in every area belonging to the western world we find divisions due to the competitive, cut throat way the current system has been built. So we hope to bring people back into the forest to hear & feel for themselves the teachings of Spirit & the Trees. Spirit & the Trees goal is to connect people & bring people together to remember there is another, forgotten way to live our lives here on our beautiful planet.
We want to connect with Elders, Wisdom Holders & Nation members all across Turtle Island. If resource extraction is happening on a territory we want to be able to connect and go to their community, on invitation with open communication, to share the information we have learned to help community members. We also want to learn from them and the experiences they are going through as we realize each Nation is unique and sovereign in this colonial system. Our intention is to create a web of knowledge and support for First Peoples facing resource extraction.
The WWW & Friends of the Forest are the right Warriors for this work because we came together in the Forest for the Forest. Our hearts have heard the call of the Forest and there is no other work we could possibly be doing. As Wild Women we have felt the magic of community and have felt the gift of remembering "old" ways of living long forgotten. Empowering our people to protect their traditional territories is at the core of all our efforts. We understand the complications Nations face when Elected Chief & Councils support resource extraction and when members who do not agree are seen as not important or valid...we come from Nations like this as well. Together, as we are waking up in a world disconnected from Spirit we want to gather and learn together from the Wisdom Holders of communities to then share through out our growing web. We have been contacted by individuals already through social media and word of mouth who are right now experiencing old growth logging. It is allyship and support that is being cultivated. We have gone into communities, heard their histories and background and have shared what information we can to help the members formulate their own action plan based on their Nations own cultural knowledge and traditions.
- Strengthen sustainable energy sovereignty and support climate resilience initiatives by and for Indigenous peoples.
- Canada
- Growth: An organization with an established product, service, or business model that is rolled out in one or more communities
Other then financial support which will help us travel to communities to support people who reach out we hope to be able to dedicate ourselves to our work full time with less financial strain. We would also seek legal & cultural advice to help us continue to learn how to braid our Indigenous & Natural laws with colonial laws. Bringing Natural laws into the colonial system is key in the legal battle within the system. Recognizing our oral, traditional laws in the court room will help Indigenous and non Indigenous land guardians who are following our Elders and the call of the Forest while going against industry injunctions and the Crown.
Technical support would also be sought after as how to better stay connected with and share information and updates with Nations, communities and Land Guardians across Turtle island.
- Business Model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
- Financial (e.g. accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development)
- Legal or Regulatory Matters
- Monitoring & Evaluation (e.g. collecting/using data, measuring impact)
- Product / Service Distribution (e.g. delivery, logistics, expanding client base)
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design)
As Wild Women & Friends of the Forest we are connected together through the very Lands we live on & have the calling to protect.
Our intention is to build community across Canada then move further out into Turtle Island and the World. We have already met other members and have joined the Rainbow Nation. From Fairy Creek and our recent visit to COP15 in Montreal this past December we know that when like hearted people come together magic happens. Organized Unity for Mother Earth will create the change that is imperative RIGHT NOW. Coming for Wild Women this is exactly what our world needs. We are working outside of the market. We want to shut down the market and tune people into their hearts, Spirit & the trees.
Connect with communities to share/exchange knowledge and wisdoms learned is our plan.
We plan on visiting as many first Nations as possible. Screening the documentaries "REMATERATION" and "Before They Fall" with our people for talks' brainstorming and planting the seeds of change.
We are working with CAP (Congress of Aborigial People), which is the voice of off reserve indigous peoples. this partnership helps get our message out to a larger odiance . This year we have all ready went to Ottawa twice to meet with Senate and mett with Burocrates from Climate change Canada and the Yukon for three events featuring The Wild Woman of The Woods and the screening of "REMATERATION"
Complete our new documentary "GAUDIANS" which is in production now. Dzunikwa Society guilds and Co-directs this new production. and it is in partnership with the team that made "REMATERATION"
And most importantly continue, as elder Bill Jones says "Our job is to embarass the Goverment into doing the right thing" and that we will keep doing on our social media channels.
Over the next five your will we be attending as many United Nations events as we can afford and keep up the battle of changing the system from within, with or connections in all political parties.

I would say our gage of measuring our impact has been news stories generated by our actions, thus bring more public awareness to the struggle.
Our theory of change is as Elder Bill Jones said. " Our job is to embarrass the Government into doing the right thing. And this is one our our guiding principals. the one example that comes to mind is the CBC 5th Estate investigative special we are working on with Executive Producer Lynette Fortune . This explosive piece with do a deep dive into the RCMP CIRG military unit.. Resource extraction mercenaries. We also live & work to bring the trees back into the center of EVERYTHING we do <3
Social media, Films, Documentaries, shorts and in person events. We also utilize satellite imagery, government data bases, drones and never under estimate the power of the arts.
