Dagudman Development Network
The lack of basic Infrastructure continues to hamper development in Africa. Current infrastructure financing models depend largely on Official Development Aid, Loans or foreign direct Investment, which is mostly mismanaged, looted or of little benefit to Africans.
Our solution is a social enterprise designed to provide targeted infrastructural development programs aimed at stimulating sustainable and inclusive economic development by mobilizing the development beneficiaries to become the key development partners, leveraging on the existing social networks we have in Nigeria that are helping to identify critical development challenges from community perspectives
Nigeria is rich in human and natural resources, but continues to struggle to meet its significant infrastructure deficiencies and the widespread poverty this lack of basic infrastructure brings.
Nigeria’s population is approximately 200 million. Research by the European Journal of Business and Management indicated that less than 3% of its population have any investments in the stock market primarily because of a lack of awareness and great mistrust of government institution.
30% of Nigeria’s population is within the work capable 25-54 years age bracket. However, the poverty rate remains 46.7%. Diaspora remittances to Nigeria in 2018 hit $24.3 billion. A fraction of this properly channeled could have significantly impacted infrastructure development and meaningfully reduced poverty.
From OECD - DAC data, current infrastructure financing in Nigeria depends largely on Official Development Aid and foreign direct Investment. Unfortunately, a good portion of these funding is mismanaged, used for debt servicing, and not equitably beneficial to Nigerians.
There is significant opportunity for much better infrastructure delivery, poverty reduction and wealth generation for Nigerians if the private sector is meaningfully engaged in infrastructure development, but there remains a lack of this awareness and a framework to facilitate this disconnected pieces of the puzzle.

How it Works
Our solution is an inclusive citizen engagement platform for targeted infrastructural and social development programs aimed at catalyzing and stimulating sustainable and inclusive economic development and growth by mobilizing the development beneficiaries to become the key development partners (investors). This way, infrastructure actually gets built, funding is accounted for and the infrastructure development beneficiaries (partners) also make a long term residual ROI on their infrastructure projects investments. This model will answer the UN’s “Billions to Trillions” riddle of development financing and significantly address the UN SDG 1 (No poverty) by incorporating development beneficiaries as active development partners at different levels and providing a direct ROI to them instead of the current outbound loan repayment remittances. This dynamic will also ensure better accountability and relevance of development projects to beneficiaries needs as there will be a higher level of citizenship involvement in the design of projects.
