Access to affordable housing and brick & mortar businesses
Making housing and entrepreneurship accessible and affordable for all.
According to Anna Kode of New York Times and her article, The Typical American Renter Is Now Rent-Burdened, a Report Analytics finds that renters in the U.S. now pay 30 percent of the median income for the average rent.
"The typical American renter is now rent-burdened — meaning that 30 percent of the median U.S. income is required to pay the average rent, according to a new report from Moody’s Analytics.
“This 30 percent is a symbolic threshold, a milestone,” said Thomas LaSalvia, the director of economic research at Moody’s.
Reaching this threshold puts typical American renters — who earn the median income and pay the average rent — where they have never been before, Mr. LaSalvia said. (According to the Pew Research Center, about 36 percent of American households rented, rather than owned, their homes in 2019, the last year that reliable data was available from the Census Bureau.) Moody’s first started tracking the metric in 1999, when the typical rent-to-income ratio was 22.5 percent.
“The rent-to-income ratio continued to climb up because income growth was not able to catch up with the rent growth,” said Lu Chen, a senior economist at Moody’s Analytics.
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development has defined rent-burdened families as those who spend more than 30 percent of their household income on housing and “may have difficulty affording necessities such as food, clothing, transportation, and medical care.”
“The places where you saw the biggest decline in rent are now seeing the biggest increase in rents,” Ms. Chen said.
Residents in some cities are more rent burdened than others. In New York, for example, the rent-to-income ratio in 2022 was 68.5 percent, the Moody’s report found. It was followed by Miami at 41.6 percent, Fort Lauderdale at 36.7 percent and Los Angeles at 35.6 percent."

Today, housing is not affordable and accessible to vast majority of Americans and people all over the the world. We're tackling the problem to make housing affordable and ownership accessible to even an entry-level dishwasher in America.
We repurpose shipping containers to design housing that's affordable, sustainable and beautiful.
Our design team is busy at work. Currently we've figured out how to use shipping containers to design for brick & mortar businesses and make it affordable, accessible, sustainable and beautiful.
Here is video of our F&B concept we're rolling out as stand alone business or food and beverage outlet, retail store or art gallery for example can be parked at a hotel or a local business. Curranty, we're inspiring communities to eat local and shop local.
Here is a demo of our product. Video here
Next, we're solving this problem with affordable housing. We are working to build a tech-enabled web and mobile platform for spaces. One can shop for spaces and designs for modular construction using shipping containers as the "Legos" or building blocks for spaces. Our containers paces are highly sustainable, affordable and beautifully designed.
Our solution serves individuals who can't afford a traditional home in US and around the world. A home of their own and business of their own will empower them to live well and do good. It will empower them to build prosperity for themselves and own their home and business vs. renting.
We will make home ownership affordable and accessible for all. The lower income level population will be able to afford our container homes. Rather than paying high rents, they'll be able to afford a home - even as I said, a entry-level dishwasher in America can break free from the chains of renting for years or their whole lives.
We are working to bring the cost of container home down as low as possible. It will definitely be within the reach of lowest earning members of our community.
I have partnered with one of the best shipping container fabricators in US, Roxbox Containers based in Houston, TX and together, we're designing the affordable, sustainable and beautifully designed container homes.
We have currently designed and are launching these container restaurants & bars now for hoteliers. We're taking our learnings from this and now working towards bringing container homes costs down so everyone can afford them.

We are launching the container business concept for local restaurants, bars, retail shops and art galleries / small local businesses by parking the container retail/restaurant in hotels and motels' parking lots. We are in process of parking our first two containers at a local hotel in Corpus Christi, TX. Our design team is designing the most affordable, sustainable and beautiful container homes at the moment.
Solve will help me surround myself with this community to raise awareness for our company,, our mission and be a part of this wonderful community whose values are aligned with ours. WE invest 1% of our earnings in one or more of the UN 17 Global Goals.
- Financial (e.g. accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development)
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
We use sustainable and modern day 'Legos" of modular construction world, Shipping containers to make housing affordable, accessible and a reality for all.
When people can't afford a home, it is not good for the community and economy at large. When vast majority of the population is renting, they're 'stuck' in the system. They can't build prosperity and improve the quality of their lives. Rent today is 30%+ of total income of a individual like me living in LA. Most people can't afford a home in the US. Rents are going up since 2019 and COVID.
What makes our solution innovative is shipping containers come to US and we're working to build up supply chain from peaceful and freedom-loving countries like India around the world who will supply US with goods and after the container comes to US, we can repurpose it to build a dwelling unit, or a beautiful home for people who can't otherwise afford a home in US. The home will be designed sustainably, affordably and creatively so it looks beautiful and provides a beautiful home for the individual or family to live in and not have ot rent for the rest of their lives. Our starter or first home can be a great investment towards helping the individual move up as they progress in their careers and work.
I have a dream and a vision that i'm working to manifest through 2030. It goes something like this...
The Dream
Let's dream as one.
Food
Health
Prosperity
in the homes of all.
Love
Peace
Unity
In the hearts of all.
I am working to bring innovative solution currently at the moment to bring shelter and prosperity in the homes of all. How? BY democratizing entrepreneurship and housing with shipping containers - bringing the costs down so low that it is accessible, affordable and sustainable for all.
Shipping container can enable a small business owner to go into business for themselves with low cost solution to setup brick & mortar business faster and cheaper than any other means.
After solving the problem of housing and prosperity for all, I plan to tackle and crowdsource innovation for quality food and healthcare for all. Goal is to realize this dream, this vision by 2030 and help United Nations realize the UN Global Goals.
- 1. No Poverty
- 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
- 10. Reduced Inequalities
- 11. Sustainable Cities and Communities
By producing container spaces people can afford to live and start a business with.
The theory of change is if we can bring costs down and find a sustainable solution to the problem of lack of affordable housing and financial inclusion for all to give everyone opportunity to afford their own home and start a business, this will create a stronger, more inclusive economy for all and opportunities for everyone to thrive.
The core tech is we will be budling a tech-enabled platform for modular spaces, mostly for now, using shipping containers. Spaces for brick and mortar businesses and homes will be designed and put on a platform, or a marketplace for individuals and businesses to browse and have an amazon-like shopping experience in purchasing spaces. Unreal engine, a gaming engine will be utilized to showcase the design and enable the user to design their space.
They will be able to apply for funding and get qualified for a loan to purchase their container home or business. This will be a web and mobile app.
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
- Software and Mobile Applications
- For-profit, including B-Corp or similar models
Our team is diverse and consists of both recent graduates to experienced team members and we are based in India and US. I am a minority woman of color in the US working to realize my dream and DEI is very important to me. I know that 0.0006% of funding goes to women of color. I am applying for this challenge in case I need more funding to carry our my mission, I am able to and with PR and support from MIT Solve, I want to build a strong community for an initiative I'm working on launching, 1+1. It's a call-to-action, One Movement, to get everyone together and be so inclusive that we get large corps, social impact entrepreneurs, individuals and NGOs working together harmoniously to tackle the world's most pressing problems. More info on this to raise awareness globally for UN SDGs is happening at www.1plus1.org and I am investing 1% of my earnings from all my ventures to NGOs working at scale to serve the UN SDGs.
A pledge can be taken at www.1plus1.org to pledge or commit to investing 1% of your earnings to NGOs taking one or more of the goals you're passionate about serving.
Our business model is it's a B2B2C platform. We will begin with selling affordable housing and businesses such as cafes, restaurants, bars, retail spaces, spa & wellness centers all made of shipping containers.
We will provide beautifully designed, sustainable and affordable container spaces for work, home or play.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
We will financially be sustainable by partnering with a shipping container fabricator based in Houston, TX and brand spaces, beautiful, sustainable and affordable homes and other types of commercial spaces. Our design team is based in India (Ahmadabad and Mumbai). this keeps our costs low and we operate with very low burn rates.
We have exhibited at two tradeshows and have 90 leads we are actively following up with and now closing on sales. I have a profitable hospitality design studio. The profits from projects of design of hotels and motels funds this new initative.
