Duitin operates under a business model that focuses on providing value to the populations we serve, both in terms of impact and revenue generation.
Our primary source of revenue comes from processing fees charged to individual households. When a picker collects recyclable waste with a value of IDR 100,000 from a household, the household receives IDR 80,000, while we retain the remaining IDR 20,000 as a processing fee. This processing fee allows us to cover operational costs and invest in further development of our platform and services.
To provide added value to our users, we offer a range of digital products available for purchase within our app. These products include mobile credits, electricity vouchers, and data packages, which can be acquired using the funds from the processing fees. This creates an additional revenue stream for us while offering convenience to households who can use their earnings for essential digital services.
In addition to serving individual households, we have established partnerships with corporate entities. Our corporate partners pay a monthly or annual subscription fee for our services, which provide them with access to our dashboard and campaign management tools. Through the dashboard, our corporate partners can view real-time reports on their recycling efforts, track their progress, and monitor the impact of their sustainability initiatives. This subscription-based revenue model ensures a consistent and sustainable income stream for us, while enabling businesses to enhance their waste management practices and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Furthermore, we have our own Material Recovery Facility (MRF) where we sort recyclable waste collected from individuals and businesses. The sorted waste is then sent to manufacturers for recycling and repurposing. This allows us to generate revenue by selling the sorted recyclable materials to manufacturers and contributing to the circular economy.
Overall, our business model combines multiple revenue streams, including processing fees, digital product sales, corporate subscriptions, and revenue from the sale of sorted recyclable waste. By diversifying our income sources, we ensure the financial sustainability of our operations while continuously providing value to both individuals and corporate partners.
It's important to note that while revenue generation is essential for the growth and sustainability of our solution, our primary focus remains on creating a positive social and environmental impact by empowering informal waste sectors, promoting recycling, and driving sustainability in waste management practices.
- Organizations (B2B)
Our plan for becoming financially sustainable involves several strategies. First, we plan to continue expanding our customer base through targeted marketing and collaborations with other businesses and organizations. This will increase the number of pickups and transactions we process, resulting in higher revenue.
Second, we aim to introduce new digital products and services that provide value to our customers and generate additional income. These may include customized data analytics reports, waste management consultations, or educational resources on recycling and sustainability.
Third, we will optimize our operations and reduce costs by implementing new technologies and processes that improve efficiency and reduce waste. This includes leveraging data analytics to optimize pickup routes, implementing automated sorting systems at our Material Recovery Facility, and exploring partnerships for waste-to-energy conversion.
Fourth, we will explore strategic partnerships with recycling and waste management companies to streamline our supply chain and reduce costs associated with waste disposal. This can include revenue-sharing models or joint initiatives that benefit both parties.
Finally, we will continue to seek funding from investors and grants to support our growth, research and development, and the enhancement of our technology platform. By diversifying our revenue streams, optimizing operations, forging strategic partnerships, and securing funding, we aim to achieve long-term financial sustainability while making a positive impact on the environment and society.
We have achieved some significant milestones in our journey towards financial sustainability. One of the key successes has been securing grants from reputable accelerator programs. We were fortunate to receive grants from Google for Startup Accelerator Program and the IKEA Social Entrepreneurship Indonesia Accelerator. These grants have provided us with the necessary funding to further develop and scale our solution.
In addition to grants, we have generated revenue through our business model. By taking a processing fee from individual households for the recyclable waste pickups, we have been able to generate a consistent stream of income. Our revenue is directly tied to the volume of recyclable waste collected and processed, which has been steadily increasing as more individuals and businesses join our platform.
Furthermore, we successfully closed an angel round of investment at the end of 2022. This investment has allowed us to accelerate our growth and expand our services. With the additional funding, we have been able to invest in technology enhancements, improve our operational capabilities, and onboard more pickers to meet the growing demand. The investment round not only provided us with financial resources but also validated the potential and value of our solution in the market.
These examples demonstrate our progress in achieving financial sustainability. By securing grants, generating revenue through our business model, and attracting investment, we have been able to support our ongoing operations, invest in growth opportunities, and continue delivering value to our customers. As we continue to scale and expand our reach, we expect to further enhance our financial sustainability through a combination of revenue generation, strategic partnerships, and additional funding opportunities.
