Tallas
In Indonesia itself, there are two big problems related to climate, the first one is the number of floods and the second problem is CO2 emissions. The number of floods in the last 5 years has reached 4226 times which resulted in 300+ deaths and 60K+ damaged houses. On the other hand, Indonesia has become one of the world's biggest carbon emitters due to deforestation and peatland clearance. These climate problems arise due to a lack of green space that resulted in minimum water absorption areas and carbon footprint reduction. Another factor that increases the number of climate problems in Indonesia is citizen lack of knowledge regarding water absorption areas and the lack of facilities to support the knowledge transfer. Whereas, there are lots of informal gardeners in Indonesia that can help citizens to build gardens in their houses, but the gardeners have limited access to the market due to a lack of gardening knowledge and designs.
Tallas provide products and services that can support gardeners in creating a garden that suits the customer preferences while still paying attention to the garden's contribution to water infiltration and carbon reduction. Here are some explanation about our products and services:
We provide training and certification for gardeners to increase their gardening skills and receive more project offers. In creating the curriculum, Tallas collaborate with Landscape Architecture Department at IPB University to create modules that meet the needs of the gardeners.
We connect gardeners and customers in a simple and reliable way. Our partners (gardeners and designers) have gone through several tests and training that we conduct to make sure that they are qualified and trusted. In this way, customers do not have to worry that our gardeners and designers are not professional or reliable.
We provide certified and trained landscape talents to help gardeners grow their business by creating a simple and efficient management system and efficient workflow. The landscape talents will also help to handle the customers, make the budget plan for garden build, create up-to-date garden designs, and provide creative contents for the gardener's social media. That being said, it can improve the gardener's productivity and increase their income by having wider access to the market.
Our website has lots of features that can help customers and gardeners in making the best kind of garden. One of our features is an education platform for gardeners to keep updated on recent garden developments and trends. Tallas provides a customized landing page for gardeners that have subscribed to our advanced package. The landing page will have a calculator for gardeners and customers to see how much the garden can reduce carbon footprint and absorb water by just inserting the garden design. This feature can help customers to adjust the types of plant that will be used to maximize the carbon footprint reduction and water absorption area.
Our solution serves informal gardeners that do not have stable income, landscape architecture graduates that have knowledge gap between University curriculum and the real condition of the field. Tallas also serves customers that want to have sustainable gardens that also has positive impact to mitigate climate change with an affordable cost
1. Informal Gardeners
Almost 90% of gardeners in Indonesia are informal labor that do not have a certain job and stable income. On a daily basis gardeners work as are farmworkers, Gardeners income is averaging on IDR 1.3 /month that lies on vulnerable status in poverty poverty indicators set by the World Bank. This condition happened because the gardeners experience challenges such as a lack of knowledge about landscaping and landscape design. As a result, the gardeners are unable to serve the customer's landscaping needs to the fullest and fail to reach a wider market. The situation shows that there is a need for a platform that can provide solutions and facilitate them in order to run a stable business and get a certain amount of daily income.
Our solution is to provide training and certification to increase gardener's gardening knowledge and bargaining position when dealing with customer, in this way the gardeners have higher chance to receive higher income and job opportunity.
2. Landscape Architecture students
Based on our internal interview, most of the graduates having difficulty in making real designs for customers due to lack of practical experiences in University.
Tallas provide opportunity for the students to handle customer garden projects directly to sharpen their design skills and help to decrease the knowledge gap that they are facing.
