Cement production, and traditional Timber Industrial Materials account for a significant portion of global greenhouse gas emissions, and runaway Deforestation. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report, Cement production alone is responsible for approximately 8% of global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
MELLIFLUUS
Born out of a desire to decarbonize our own Operational Footprint, Mellifluus is solving for BioConcrete & Bio-based Industrial Materials as an Innovation Arm of Muskoka Ready-Mix Inc. a Regional Concrete Supplier and a Family owned and operated business for over 35 years.
We're seeking to Solve for Low-Carbon Housing with Regeneratively-produced, and Renewably-powered Building Materials.
Mellifluus, (Latin. 'Flowing with honey) is solving for (1) a Bio-based Admixture Adhesive Alternative to Portland Cement, (2) A proprietary Hempcrete block product, (3) Common Commercial Standard Size (ie. 2x4, 2x8) Bamboo BioComposite 'Lumber.' as a Non-Timber Alternative (3) Solar Pyrolyzed BioChar as a Bio-based Alternative to Petrochemical Fertilizers.
All of these Bio-based Products seek to displace traditional carbon-intensive Industrial Materials like Portland Cement, Petrochemical Synthetic Fertilizers, and Deforested Lumber that undermines the integrity of Forests as Natural Carbon Sinks.
Mellifluus, for former Industrially-degraded Land, and seeks to implement Regenerative Land Management practices for Agroforestry to Regeneratively-produce hyper-productive primary material feedstocks: Bamboo, Industrial Hemp & Mycelium, and vertically integrate on-site Farm Circularity and Renewably-powered Manufacturing to become a trusted local supplier of BioConcrete & Bio-based Building Materials for Low-Carbon Housing that unlocks positive ecological outcomes.
Backed by our 'Regenerative Commercialization Thesis, we believe that Regenerative Agroforestry & Agriculture, Regenerative Aquaculture & Cellular Culture are the core principled production methods that anchor the rapidly growing Global BioEconomy.
BEYOND SUSTAINABILITY
The short-term goal to incrementally reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions in effort to achieve societal net-zero, or’ Sustainability’ neutrality, is admirable and necessary.

Mellifluus is a Regenerative Agroforestry Living Laboratory seeking to cultivate Non-Timber Terrestrial Biomass, ie. Commercial Bamboo, Industrial Hemp & Mycelium, and manufacture added-value Bio-based Building products for Low-carbon Housing Materials.
1. CULTIVATE - REGENERATIVE COMMERCIAL AGROFORESTRY
Bamboo is the fastest growing, hyper-productive plant species on Earth and a prime material feedstock to unlock a Low Carbon Economy. Mellifluus seeks to transform previously degraded land into a Regenerative Agroforestry Commercial Operation, and novel Material processing and manufacturing.
2. INTELLIGENCE & MACHINE LEARNING
Data Collection on optimizing growth and yield of cultivars based on temperature, soil composition and nutrient management. Once foundational data has been captured, opportunity to implement Machine Learning to achieve generative design and modelling (AI/ML) for future sites, industry consulting and continuous improvement.
3. HARVEST - PULP & MILL
Source/design a mechanical process, a 'chipper' in order to break down harvested bamboo and hemp stalks into smaller pieces. Chips are then processed by a thermal bath, a 'digester' to transform chips into pulp. Further refinement of pulp into composites and forms, ie. BioCement, Hempcrete Blocks, Biochar, Bamboo Lumber and Engineered Composites.
4. MANUFACTURE & SUPPLY COMMERCIAL-GRADE PRODUCTS
