The sun will not pinch children next summer
What specific problem are you solving?
Jordan is one of the most water-scarce countries in the world, and its burgeoning population compounded by a growing demand for water and energy has created severe challenges for environmental sustainability. Climate change has also impacted vulnerable communities in Jordan, particularly in the form of water insecurity, water and air pollution, and energy insecurity. The problem we aim to solve is to create low-carbon homes for vulnerable communities in Jordan to mitigate the impact of climate change, reduce their carbon footprint, and increase their resilience to environmental challenges.
Our solution is to provide affordable, sustainable, and resilient low-carbon homes for vulnerable communities in Jordan. We plan to work with architects, engineers, and community members to design and construct green and climate-resilient buildings using eco-friendly materials, renewable energy sources, and water-saving techniques. These houses will feature energy-efficient appliances, water conservation systems, and solar panels, thereby reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources, maximizing water usage, and minimizing carbon emissions.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves vulnerable communities in Jordan, particularly low-income families, refugees, and people living in informal settlements. Our solution will improve their socio-economic wellbeing by providing them with affordable and sustainable housing, reducing their energy bills, and increasing their income through job creation during the construction process. The solution will also improve their health and well-being by providing a clean and healthy environment, safer living conditions, and reducing their exposure to pollution and hazardous living conditions.
Our team consists of professionals with expertise in sustainable design, engineering, fundraising, project management, and community engagement. We have experience in working with vulnerable communities and have a strong network of partners, including local NGOs, community-based organizations, and academic institutions. Our team is well-versed in the sustainability issues facing Jordan and has the necessary skills and resources to develop and deliver quality housing solutions.
- Support informal communities in upgrading to more resilient housing, including financing, design, and low-carbon materials or energy sources.

- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model, but which is not yet serving anyone
Models have already been selected, appropriate places for implementation have been identified, and land has been purchased in the target places for conducting experiments, and being close to the local population.
Three typical places were chosen in Jordan, and small areas of land were acquired in those areas. The prototype was chosen in the northeastern desert due to its proximity to the Syrian-Jordanian border, the Iraqi-Jordanian border, and the Saudi-Jordanian border. It's a really typical area.
It is rare to find a single region that borders directly with three neighboring countries.
At present, our solution is in the ideation phase, and we have not yet started implementation. However, our target is to provide up to 1000 low-carbon homes to vulnerable communities in Jordan over the next five years.
We are applying to Solve because it provides us with a platform to connect with like-minded individuals, organizations, and funders who share our commitment to creating sustainable and resilient communities. Solve's focus on climate adaptation and low-carbon housing aligns well with our green homes initiative, and we believe it can help us gain visibility, build partnerships, and secure funding and resources to scale our solution.
- Business Model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
- Financial (e.g. accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development)
- Legal or Regulatory Matters
- Monitoring & Evaluation (e.g. collecting/using data, measuring impact)
- Product / Service Distribution (e.g. delivery, logistics, expanding client base)
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design)
Our solution is innovative because it provides affordable, sustainable, and climate-resilient housing solutions that harness eco-friendly materials, renewable energy, and water-saving techniques. Our approach builds on best practices in sustainability, architecture, engineering, and community engagement, in line with the principles of green building. Our solution will also use technology to monitor and manage energy and water usage, optimize waste management, and track the impact of the project.
Our impact goal for the next year is to secure funding and partnerships to start the implementation phase of our Green Homes Initiative, including design, planning, and construction. Over the next five years, we aim to provide up to 1000 low-carbon homes to vulnerable communities in Jordan, create sustainable jobs and income opportunities for the local community and reduce carbon emissions by 20%. To achieve our goals, we will work closely with our partners to secure funding, engage with local communities, and implement our projects.

We will measure our progress through key performance indicators (KPIs), including the number of low-carbon homes constructed, the amount of renewable energy generated, carbon emissions reduced, the level of community engagement and satisfaction, and the number of jobs created. We will also conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of our project process, outputs, and outcomes, and use this data to make necessary adjustments.
Our theory of change is that by providing affordable, sustainable, and resilient low-carbon homes for vulnerable communities in Jordan, we will reduce their carbon footprint, increase their resilience to climate change, and improve their socio-economic wellbeing. Our Green Homes Initiative will help in creating a sustainable ecosystem that prioritizes the use of renewable energy, eco-friendly building materials, and water-saving techniques.
Our solution uses a combination of technologies, including eco-friendly building materials, renewable energy sources, and water-saving systems. We will also make use of IoT sensors, machine learning, and other digital technologies to monitor and manage energy and water usage, optimize waste management, and track the impact of the project. We will also leverage mobile-based communication and engagement tools to ensure community participation and empowerment.

Our approach to diversity, equity, and inclusivity is founded on principles of collaboration, respect, and community engagement. We have a diverse team that represents different backgrounds, expertise, and perspectives. We also prioritize local community engagement and participation, ensuring their voices are heard and incorporated into the decision-making process.
I will join the mentioned course as soon as possible.

We will sustainably fund and scale our solution through a combination of partnerships, grants fundraising, and social enterprise. We will seek partnerships with donors, local authorities, and private sector partners for resources, expertise, and support. We will also explore grant opportunities from national and international development agencies. Additionally, we will establish a social enterprise model that will generate income from the sale of renewable energy, green building materials, and other value-added products and services to support the project's sustainability and growth.
We have plans for financial sustainability, but so far we have not received any support. We support ourselves and our projects.
