ConserVate
According to WWF’s living planet report of 2022, we have lost 69% of nature and wildlife populations globally since 1970 despite various conservation efforts.
Lack of verifiable social impact data and high costs of quality measurement tools for those in conservation. Over 1000 CBOs working on Conservation along the coastal region in Kenya with no verifiable Impact. The lack of coordination, proper monitoring, reporting, and verification between conservation stakeholders is leading to fragmented efforts and a lack of impact on the ground. Conservation efforts to reverse the effects of climate change are failing despite a considerable # of investment every year from donors and investors. Businesses are increasingly being scrutinized on how they contribute to Climate Change.
We provide data collection tools, Software as a service (SaaS) for CBO’s, NGOs and businesses to measure their social and environmental impact. We do this by consolidating all conservation effort projects under one platform and saving time when it comes to conducting MRV. We market the performance efforts to potential donors and funders using the data collected on our platform. Tools used to demonstrate how organizations make a difference in the lives of beneficiaries or community or nature restoration
We provide a data-driven performance metrics platform for CBOs and businesses investing in conservation efforts, our digital tools aim to build local capacity for monitoring, reporting, and credible verification of conservation efforts for Community-Based Organizations, NGOs, Donors, and businesses investing in marine conservation efforts.
We have built an onboarding tool for over 100 Community-based organisations through a Web-based MIS application with an M&E dashboard for tracking day to day progress of the project in terms of implementation and budget expenditure with custom visualization of location-specific data for CBO’s project’s information collection, storage, analysis, reporting, dissemination, flexible and secure interchanging of data and having
Within the platform, we have build a baseline of the key KPIs through a dynamic digital mechanism for exchanging the best practices and knowledge among the wider range of stakeholders
The onboarding tool has a well-responsive GIS-based API for collecting and visualizing the data from the field; Who, where, and what.
Eventually, we will include Voice SMS and a bulk SMS alert system for the project beneficiaries' field deployment to collect and manage data and dissemination of data/info.

Community members living around vital ecosystems often need the financial incentives to conserve, users of an ecosystem service like private sector companies, businesses who make money from natural resources looking to make payments to the providers/protectors of the service
Our team comprises a group of experts in environmental economics, information technology, project design, and partnership engagement, each possessing unique skills such as partnership management, environmental sustainability, stakeholder engagement, impact evaluation, and assessment, ecosystem services valuation, innovation, data management, nature-based solutions, payments integration, web technologies (Web3), mobile app technologies, capacity building in marine conservation, climate change advocacy, community livelihood, and innovation. By leveraging our collective expertise and advanced technology, the ConserVate platform, we are committed to assisting conservation organizations in enhancing their monitoring and evaluation processes, measuring impact, and demonstrating tangible conservation outcomes.
- Adapt land and coastal areas to more extreme weather, including through climate-smart agriculture or restoring natural ecosystems to mitigate impacts.

- Pilot: An organization testing a product, service, or business model with a small number of users
We have 27 marine Community based organizations in coastal Kenya that have signed up and 2 businesses working on plastic waste recycling in Mombasa, Kenya. Currently we are collecting insights into user behavior so that we can analyze, iterate, & improve their experience. Drive product adoption and the adoption of new features as per user needs Make onboarding self-serve and decrease support tickets
As an ecosystem builder, Solve MIT has the potential to bolster ConserVate by bridging the financial gap and forging robust partnerships that promote the advancement of cutting-edge mobile products and services. Currently, organizations are employing paper-based reporting models, which are time-consuming and have many drawbacks. Other companies which offer MRV services do not provide incentives to the conservation organization on the ground. ConserVate aims at consolidating all conservation effort projects under one platform and saves time when it comes to conducting MRV. The ConserVate system allows conservation organizations to gather ground-level data, manage their projects more effectively, and deliver donors a world-class experience.
ConserVate intends to Improve livelihoods by creating 10000+ green jobs
Data collected will be used to influence a behavioral change on environmental conservation through payment for ecosystems performance (Incentivizing the communities based on their needs e.g Health insurance

ConserVate will employ qualitative and quantitative evaluation methodologies to measure success. There are several potential beneficiaries from ConserVate innovation and outcomes that can be monitored for impact. We are primarily focused on marine conservation organizations as a first measure of success. We hope to later observe positive impacts resulting from access to the MRV platform. Our evaluation methodologies will be (a) Company financial performance, (b) Customer feedback. We will also seek support from partners in designing other evaluation methods appropriate for measuring the impact of our innovation.
- Company performance through sales. The trend of overall sales, as well as the number of repeat sales, will also determine the extent to which our MRV platform is impactful. ConserVate will observe the fluctuation in sales by customers monthly to measure progress against our financial goals.
- Customer feedback. Our sales representatives will engage in ongoing customer outreach to solicit feedback on how well the service is reselling to CBO, NGOs, and donors. A proactive approach to gathering feedback is critical to ensuring issues or opportunities are identified and acted on to strengthen ConserVate's overall service to customers and beneficiaries, and to enhance our management systems, which will ultimately enable us to more effectively and quickly scale our operations. Customer surveys centered around key topic areas will help flag issues beneficiaries could experience with the feed that would hinder the impact of our innovation.
Adopting the ConserVate platform and integrating MRV into their conservation strategies could increase the effectiveness and efficiency of conservation efforts for the network of conservation organizations. This, in turn, could lead to improved biodiversity conservation, ecosystem health, and climate change mitigation, as well as an increase in awareness and support for conservation efforts among stakeholders. Additionally, this could result in improved conservation policies and regulations, and greater resilience of ecosystems and communities to environmental stressors such as climate change.

In the beginning, we will engage development partners for grant funding to launch our services and cover our operations. At the end of the high-fidelity prototype phase, we will already be operational and will use our proceeds from sales to fund the business. In the long term, we will consider taking investors on board in order to expand the company internationally.

PETCO, Kenya PET Recycling Company, is a company that takes Extended Producer Responsibility (something that, in the industry, we call EPR) for the end-of-life solution for the PET bottle sector on a collaborative basis, both financially and operationally. PETCO supports recyclers with community programs, educational materials, and awareness programs on recycling. PETCO promotes recycling efficiency in the production, design, conversion, collection, and recycling of post-consumer PET plastic. PETCO has over 500 CBOs in coastal Kenya that they work with. Our partnership is to support the CBOs in building monitoring and evaluation systems that PETCO can use to measure the impact they are having on recycling.
