Solar powered drip kits
The problem I am solving is the low productivity resulting from rainfed agriculture in rural areas in Zambia. Due to low productivity, farmers are unable to earn sufficient income and are stuck in a poverty trap
the solution are solar powered drip kits that can be used throught out the year to irrigate crops. The drip kits deliver water to the root zone of the crop, therefore present a climart smart solution as no water is wasted
with the ability to produce through out the year, the Livelihoods of rural poor will be improved. More jobs will be created.
our team is made up of experts with a deep understanding of agriculture and Irrigation.
- Help communities understand and incorporate climate risk in infrastructure design and planning, including through improved data collection and analysis, integration with existing systems, and aligning financial incentives such as insurance.
- Zambia
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model, but which is not yet serving anyone
we have so far served some farmers whose crops where dying due to lack of rainfall. Without our solution these farmers crops would have gone to waste and they would not have had product to sale to look after their basic needs
Currently we have served 4 farmers in a period of 1 month. However, thousands of farmers are affected and in need of a solution
The application is being made due to financial barriers that we face. We are unable to serve as many farmers as we would like due to financial resources that would allow us to reach farmers
- Business Model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
- Financial (e.g. accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design)
reduced poverty
Increase in employment rate
Increased food security
- 1. No Poverty
- 2. Zero Hunger
- 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
- 9. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
- 13. Climate Action
- 17. Partnerships for the Goals
we measure changes in income level of the farmer. We collect current income from farm activity and collect similar data 6months after adoption of our solution
by adding water as a lead input, farmers will be able to produce crops as the output, which will lead to more income as the outcome and ultimately reduction in poverty as the impact of our solution
Solar panels by tapping into the power of the sun produces the energy needed to pump water to irrigate crops through climate smart drip tapes that take water directly to the root of the crops
- A new application of an existing technology

Our team is made up of a mix of female and male heads of spe ific departments. We have a policy of hiring team members based on the merit of the skills and qualifications and in this regard, our team is diverse.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
our long term sustainability plan is to cater to farmer groups in the rural areas and providing these farmers with sufficient knowledge to succeed. This way, they can scale their operations while also providing us with more sales of our product
