Waste to wealth app: Hydrogen house and low-carbon bricks
More than 38 billion liters of urine is produced by humans and animals and the majority end up in municipal wastewater in Nigeria and developed countries. Nigeria generates 32 million tons of waste of which 2.5 million tons are plastic waste, the hike in the price of refilling a 12.5kg cylinder with liquefied petroleum gas made Nigerians shift to the use of wood, sawdust, coal and other dirty fuels to cook. Each year Nigeria wastes 40% of its total food production and these food wastages accounts for 31% of total land use of the country and also account for 5% of green house gas emissions.
Secondly, Carbon emissions from the use of cement have globally increased to 8% in 2022 from 6% in 2021. Carbon emission from the use of cement and concrete industry is one of the most neglected in the fight against climate change in Africa. The manufacturing process of producing cement is when calcium carbonate is thermally decomposed, producing lime and carbon dioxide. The combustion of fossil fuel also contributes to roughly 600 kilograms of carbon emission for every ton of cement produced, dust particles from cement and concrete pollute majorly the urban water and air pollution, contributing to the huge deaths of Nigerians from cardiopulmonary infection.
Apart carbon emission from the use of cement, there is an alarming carbon footprint in Nigeria where 3 millions generators were imported and used out of 6.5 million generators used in sub-Shara Africa. All these are undermining a zero-carbon world and contributing to climate-linked flooding, droughts and heat waves in Nigeria. The increase in drought in the Northern part of Nigeria made nomadic herder farmers pick up arms to kill Southern farmers who hinders their cows from grazing. Concerning flooding in Nigeria, according to UNICEF, over 600 people have been killed and 82,000 homes destroyed. As a matter of fact, flood affected 34 out of 36 states in Nigeria and about 1.3 million people were displaced last year.
Lastly, the rising housing deficit of over 17 million in Nigeria is a result of the soaring cost of cement and the arithmetic growth rate in population will result in 22 million housing deficits by 2030. There is an urgent need to build over 700,000 new homes yearly.
1. W2W Waste 2 Wealth is a mobile app where Nigerians can sell their human waste, food waste, paper waste and plastic waste to us and other suppliers who will transform the raw material to make affordable building blocks and resilient bricks.
2. The mobile app enables people to sell their urine to suppliers to convert it into hydrogen gas for cooking and electricity.
3. The mobile app have a unique feature where people can become poop donors and save lives.
Over 17 million Nigerians facing housing deficits as a result of the soaring cost of cement and the arithmetic growth rate in population and also a projection of 22 million Nigerians housing deficits by 2030. Apart of housing deficits in the country, 60% of Nigerians use firewood, 30% use kerosene and 5% of Nigerians use charcoal.
W2W Waste to Wealth has potential impact of over 20 million lives, Nigerians living in abject poverty will be able to sell their waste to suppliers who will use it to make resilient bricks and also make hydrogen (through the use of their urine) to cook and for electricity, thus, reducing the country'smassivecarbon footprint fromtheuseof generators. Also, poor Nigerians and other people across the continent make money instead of using money to dispose their faces.
The app is use as a stepping stone to reduce human and animal waste ending up on landfills and waterways in Lagos and Nigeria and also to discourage people from paying sewage tankers for disposing their waste. Also, use waste to reduce the cost of building materials and the installation of air conditioners and ventilators. The app is tailored towards zero carbon world and resilient multifamily housing by engaging bricklayers to use of shredded plastic waste, poops and urine
- Reduce emissions from multifamily housing during construction, operation, and end-of-life while addressing barriers to local adoption.
- Nigeria
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model, but which is not yet serving anyone
We have developed the mobile app and we have sent the apk of the app to people to receive their feedback on the mobile apps with a clear focus of a mobile app that will a massive impact on people. The mobile apps have been sent to google play store to be published
Currently, none, the mobile apps will soon be published. Presently we are about to engage local bricklayers in Ikorodu, Lagos to make bricks with poops and blocks with urine
Our technical barrier are firstly, software engineers are needed to improve the mobile apps and prevent it from hackers. Also, how to build localized modular high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (MHTGR) which produce high temperature for hydrogen production and high-efficiency electricity generation from urine.
- Financial (e.g. accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development)
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design)
W2W Waste 2 Wealth is the first market to sell human waste (poops and urine) in Nigeria and Nigerians can become poop donors instead of paying sewage tankers to dispose of their waste or their waste ending up in the country's waterways, sea and landfills. Secondly, Nigerians can sell food and plastic waste, thus, boosting the country's GDP. Lastly, stronger blocks and bricks made from plastic waste will mitigate the frequent collapse of houses in Lagos and Nigeria.
1. Reduce poverty and hunger in Nigeria: People will be able to sell their waste to feed, become poop donors, and afford multifamily homes.
2. Affordable and resilient multifamily homes: In Nigeria, there is an urgent need to build over 700,000 new homes yearly to alleviate 22 million housing deficits by 2030 caused by the soaring cost of cement. plastic Waste and other waste will serve as raw materials for construction, reducing the use of cement.
3. Reduction in the cutting down of trees for cooking. food waste will serve as raw materials for renewable energies in Nigerian and African homes.
- 1. No Poverty
- 2. Zero Hunger
- 7. Affordable and Clean Energy
- 11. Sustainable Cities and Communities
- 13. Climate Action
W2W waste to wealth will lead to zero hunger in Nigeria in which the poor will be able to make money from waste and also a reduction in carbon emission from food waste.
Poop donors will be able to save lives
Food waste and urine can be converted into affordable renewable energies like biogas and hydrogen gas thus, reducing the rate of deforestation and the use of coal to cook.
Hydrogen will reduce the carbon emission from power stations and the massive use of generators.
Also, poops and urine can be used to achieve resilient multifamily housing in which bricks and blocks from poops and urine are stronger and also with low carbon emissions.
32 million tons of waste of which 2.5 million tons are plastic waste which Nigeria generates and the majority of this waste ends up in the country's landfills and waterways. The mobile app will reduce waste ending up in the country's landfills and waterways by 92% because poor communities like Ikorodu Lagos tend to end their poops and plastic waste in landfills and waterways.
With W2W waste 2 wealth can substantially reduce carbon emission in the environment between 80% to 90%).
Software through coding was used to provide a platform where people can sell their waste
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
- Software and Mobile Applications
- Nigeria
- Benin
- Chad
- Ethiopia
- Ghana
- Nigeria
- Rwanda
- South Africa
- United States
We provide connections of raw materials between suppliers (those who need the various waste to transform into resilient bricks, blocks and recycled products) and buyers
Nigerians do not need to pay to dispose their waste anymore, they can sell their various waste
People can become poop donors to make huge money and also save lives instead of indulging into various crimes to survive or lured into terrorism (an hungry man is a potential terrorist)
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
It is a free to download mobile app and free to use mobile app but we plan to incorporate pay what you can mode, donorsl and partnership to bring in money.
We received donors from my family who supported us financially
