Hero Points
The common questions of business owners in their customers are the following: How can I establish meaningful and deeper relationship with my customers? How often do they come back? Can I get them to come back more often? The customers have another view on how business operates. According to statistics on consumers, 85% of them have a positive image of a brand that gives to charities and most likely they will recommend it. But not all SMEs have the capacity to start an NGO, there are SMEs who are donating a % of their profit at the end of the year. However, customers usually do not have an idea that SMEs are doing it. Hero Points is a reward points platform of the merchants for their customers. Hero Points has a potential to scale as we revolutionize generosity through seamless giving.
The principle behind concept the concept of Hero Points is ‘contributory consumption’. "Contributory Consumption" is a comprehensive system of mindful consumerism in which every single transaction for products and services would include a contribution toward building a better world. - Simon Mainwaring
There is an emerging trend for businesses to be involved in social responsibility. But not all of them can create a Foundation or a non-profit. We also recognized many youth-led organizations that are doing well on the ground but may have a hard time looking for a funding or looking for a partnership with businesses.
Hero Points wishes to bridge that gap. That consumers of merchants can give their points to the causes that they are passionate about. This will also allow youth-led organizations to have a platform where consumers and businesses can come together to help them. The starting point for the engagement of businesses and youth-led organizations is the reward points but maybe more partnership will be created through it, where businesses will know which causes/advocacies their customers are passionate about according to where they put their reward points
We are currently in partnership with 20 youth organizations all over the Philippines. Some of them are the following:
BakUNAWA (Iloilo) - This campaign champions compliance to School Based Immunization (SBI) among Grade 1 pupils in public elementary schools.
Dugong Bughaw (Iloilo) - A project that convenes 10 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in a highly urbanized city to advocate for HIV/ AIDS awareness and testing.
TeenPuyog (Sarangani) - A culture-sensitive approach in reducing the cases of teenage pregnancy among members of T'Boli tribe through active youth engagement.
Cebuano Youth Ambassadors (Cebu) - A multi-sectoral movement that utilizes technology and data-banking to encourage young people to voluntarily donate blood.
Peace of Mind Project (Maguindanao) - Training of teachers and guidance counselors in peer-support group formation in multiple high schools affected by armed conflict in Southern Philippines.
Hero Points is a reward points platform. For every purchase of a product or use of a service from a partner merchant, the customer will earn points through scanning the store’s dedicated QR Code via mobile app. Then, customers can donate these points to a community project or an NGO. The customers will see their leadership ranking and the updates of the partner NGO to where their points go.
The partner merchant will have a dashboard where they can have access through customer data analytics, customizable promo (other than the rewards) for regular customer visits, targeted push messaging for promo/rewards during customer birthday, or to reach out to customers when they fail to visit within certain number of days.
The youth organizations will also have a donor analytics database so that when a customer reaches a certain amount, they can be invited to visit the community that they are making an impact.

The platform operates in the concept of contributory consumption:

We believe that it is embedded in the Filipino culture to make a difference. That it is a rewarding experience to not only buy products or use services but also knowing that you also contribute to an advocacy or a cause.
This also means that there will be zero points wasted. Points will not just expire for nothing. This is also a nudge for customers to potentially be encouraged to give more and know that there many NGOs that are amazingly operating on the ground.
For example, in light of the recent earthquake, partner merchants can opt to support a small/local NGO to where the funds are needed and that customers are encouraged to use their points for it.

We will be developing the dashboard for NGOs/youth organizations also so that they can have donor analytics.

Our solution will help youth organizations who are making an impact to their respective communities to have new stream of funding. It is likely also that they will be able to find more businesses who would like to support them. These businesses usually would rather support big, international NGO.
We are supporting 20 youth organizations right now and we have a vetting process for it. We vet them according to the impact they are making, how they handle their financials, how they handle volunteers, the potential of scale so that they can have an impact to nearby communities also.

We are currently serving 20 youth organizations. We plan to increase that to 50 in the coming year. In the next 5 years, we want to have at least 500 youth organizations.
Our mission is to empower 1 billion individuals to become an everyday hero by contributing towards building a better world.
We need more technical person who can help us with the tech development. We are also in need of funding so that we can reach more places around the Philippines by looking at partnerships with merchants and youth organizations.
We have been looking for strategic partners who share the same vision with us.

Together with Louie, we won the the AIM-MDM Hackathon 2017 where we developed the Seeds Effective and Efficient Distribution (SEED) app. This is for the Department of Agriculture to have a digital database management of their palay seeds distribution to farmers. We are currently in talks to PhilRice for the potential further development of the app. We also started Cent To Change last year. The aim of Cent To Change is to enable underserved communities to solve community issues. We started with distributing clean water to families with kids that are 5 years old and below. We are currently helping 30 families in Baseco.
We are in partnership with Positive Youth Development Network, Inc. (PYDN) is the Philippines’ pioneering youth development, and accrediting network, dedicated to building strong, socially-aware and sustainable youth organizations responsive to the evolving needs and opportunities of the country.

Our plan and pricing:
Basic plan is always free. Partner merchant will be placed in the platform with dedicated QR for the reward points.
Subscription plans. The partner merchants will have access to the dashboard where they can see customer data analytics.
In the long term, we plan to have payment integration where customers can directly support NGOs through debit/credit payment. We will include a 'tip system' - where when they checkout for payment, customers can give any amount as a voluntary tip to maintain and improve also the platform.
All equivalent amounts of the points, we will have 3% fee for all converted points.
Through our business mode, we believe that we can generate revenue that will allow us to fund our operations eventually. We will also be looking for funding through grants and eventually to raise investments.
We are excited to be have mentors and be trained. We know that through this, our perspective about the world of social good and technology will increase. We would love to be in a network of like-minded individuals who want to see the day that our world is in a better state.

We would like to partner with organizations who are using technology to make an impact to NGOs. In the Philippines, not many organizations think about helping NGOs with their process, funding, and impact analysis.
We expect that as we increase the data that we are getting from consumption of customers, how they donate and even the data from NGOs. AI will help us automate some processes by ensuring that where ever the potential donor/customer is, AI will be able to determine the youth organizations near them so that they can support it.
We would like to reach more organizations all over the Philippins so that we can have an impact to more communities. It will need finances for us to travel to different places in the country.
We have a youth organization called Proactive Kabilin. They are located in Brgy. Mayondon, Los Banos, Laguna. They provide health awareness campaign that educates women in reproductive age about the importance of preconception health. We would like to scale them to other locations also.
