TECH-NOTCH IMMERSIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Education in Nigeria faces several challenges, including inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, inadequate teacher training, high rates of out-of-school children, and a large gender gap in education. Here are some statistics that highlight these problems:
Funding: Nigeria's education system is chronically underfunded, with education receiving only about 7% of the national budget. In 2020, Nigeria's education budget was N671.07 billion ($1.8 billion USD), which was only 6.7% of the country's total budget. This low funding level has led to a lack of resources and poor infrastructure in schools.
Out-of-school children: Nigeria has one of the highest rates of out-of-school children in the world, with an estimated 13.2 million children out of school. This represents about 10% of the world's out-of-school children. The northern part of Nigeria has the highest number of out-of-school children, with states like Bauchi, Katsina, and Sokoto having over 50% of their children out of school.
Gender gap: Nigeria also has a large gender gap in education, with fewer girls than boys enrolled in school. According to the United Nations, in 2020, the net enrollment rate for girls in primary school was 67%, compared to 77% for boys. This gender gap is even wider in the northern part of the country.
Teacher quality: There is a shortage of qualified teachers in Nigeria, and many of the teachers who are employed are poorly trained. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, only 57% of teachers in public primary schools have the required qualification to teach.
Infrastructure: Many schools in Nigeria lack basic infrastructure such as electricity, water, and classrooms. According to the United Nations, in 2020, only 44% of primary schools in Nigeria had access to water, and only 46% had access to electricity.
These challenges have contributed to Nigeria's low ranking on international education indices. According to the 2020 World Bank Human Capital Index, Nigeria ranked 161 out of 174 countries in terms of human capital development.
The solution provides curriculum development services for schools in accordance with educational best practices and productive technical specifications. It employs a systematic design and development process that produces instructionally sound, engaging programs/curricula that are aligned with institutional goals and exceed applicable accreditation and/or compliance standards. On-site training and teaching services are available to schools who do not yet possess an e-learning infrastructure or who do not yet possess robust programming that would adequately leverage the infrastructure. We also enroll the kids to the code club across our various hubs to enable them to engage better, collaborate further and ask specific questions that will aid their development. A periodic of review global STEM updates with focus on how it can be leveraged to boost innovative capabilities of these students across the hubs and creative debates on these trends with respect to proffering solutions to immediate surrounding problems are also encouraged, with teachers trained and designated to co-ordinate these 'tech hubs'.
Our unique value proposition is the adoption of a needs analysis report of our operations. This is the result of a school-partnered consulting and research effort. The report articulates technology, workforce, and policy/procedure needs for e-learning and in-person programs in the general context of any institutional, accreditation and compliance constraints. This report is opened for review every quarter to ascertain areas for focal attention and researchers can use that to develop better learning prototypes.

The target population for TENILE in Nigeria are children and youths, particularly those from low-income families and underserved communities. These are children who are currently out of school or are in schools with inadequate resources and poor infrastructure. They are also children who face barriers to education due to cultural and gender biases, such as early marriage and discrimination against girls' education.
These children and youths are currently underserved due to a lack of access to quality education. Many schools in Nigeria lack basic infrastructure, including classrooms, furniture, and learning materials. There is also a shortage of qualified teachers, particularly in rural areas, which further contributes to poor quality education. Additionally, low-income families cannot afford the high cost of education, including school fees, uniforms, and textbooks.
The solution TENILE adopts to address the needs of this target population involves providing access to quality education through various interventions. These interventions include:
Investment in infrastructure: Providing adequate resources, such as classrooms, furniture, and learning materials, to schools in underserved communities.
Teacher training: Providing training and professional development opportunities to teachers to improve their skills and knowledge.
Scholarships and financial aid: Providing financial support to low-income families to enable them to send their children to school.
Community engagement: Engaging parents, community leaders, and other stakeholders to support education and ensure children are attending school.
Technology: Providing access to technology, such as computers and the internet, to enhance learning and increase access to educational resources.
By implementing these interventions, educational empowerment can directly and meaningfully improve the lives of children and youths in Nigeria. They will have access to quality education, which will improve their knowledge and skills, and ultimately increase their chances of success in life. Additionally, empowering these children through education will enable them to contribute positively to their communities and the nation as a whole.
When designing and delivering TENILE solutions to specific Nigerian communities, it is crucial to involve the community in the process. This ensures that the solutions developed are responsive to the community's needs, and the community takes ownership of the solutions. The TENILE team explore these ways to involve the community in the design and delivery of our educational solutions:
Community engagement: Engage with the community members to understand their needs, challenges, and aspirations for education. This is done through town hall meetings, focus groups, surveys, and other methods of community engagement.
Co-creation: Involve community members in the design of the educational solutions, allowing them to provide input, ideas, and feedback. This is done through participatory design sessions, where community members work with the design team to develop solutions.
Partnerships: Partner with local organizations and community leaders to ensure that the solutions developed are aligned with the community's values, culture, and aspirations.
Local representation: Ensure that the design team includes individuals who are representative of the community, such as local educators, community leaders, and parents. This ensures that the design team has a deep understanding of the local context and can develop solutions that are relevant to the community's needs.
Continuous feedback: Continuously engage with the community throughout the implementation process to receive feedback and ensure that the solutions are meeting the community's needs.
Overall, designing and delivering TENILE solutions that are responsive to the needs of the target population requires an inclusive and participatory approach that prioritizes community engagement, co-creation, partnerships, and local representation. By involving the community in the process, the solutions developed are more likely to be effective, sustainable, and have a meaningful impact on the lives of the target population and the TENILE team makes effort to become an integral part of the communities we serve.
