According to the US Elections Project, only 66.4% of eligible voters turned out to vote in the 2020 presidential election. This means that over 34% of eligible voters did not exercise their right to vote. Low voter turnout is not limited to presidential elections; it is a widespread issue in local and state elections as well. In the 2018 midterm elections, only 53% of eligible voters turned out to vote.

In addition to low voter turnout, a lack of civic education also leads to disengagement from community issues. According to a study by the National Conference on Citizenship, only 28% of Americans participate in groups or organizations that work to solve community problems. This lack of engagement can have a contagion effect, leading to a lack of investment in community issues and a decline in overall community well-being.

CivicEdge's extensive resources are tailored to the various requirements of our users. We intend to make the best use of Solve's collaborative environment, and professional development opportunities, and market our app through Solve's various channels. We will also make use of the talent pipeline at Solve to recruit passionate, driven people who love taking action as much as we do.

While there are many civic education resources available, they are often scattered and not easily accessible. Civic Edge aims to address this issue by providing a one-stop shop for all civic education needs.
