Teachcomp - Inclusive Digital skills for Civic Participation
A report by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) revealed that about 230 million jobs in sub-Saharan Africa will require some level of digital skills by 2030. Current statistics show that 90 percent of children in Africa pass through school without being exposed to any basic digital skills, which becomes a main limitation for them in today's world of the digital revolution.
Crystal Teachcomp closes the digital skills gap among school-age children, adolescents, and young adults due to learning differences, poor internet access, inadequately competent educators, and the high cost of digital skills training.
Teachcomp is an offline-first, accessible freemium application suite that enables a blended, inclusive digital literacy education in both in-school and out-of-school environments.
Teachcomp works by downloading and installing the app executable on a laptop or desktop computer even if there is no internet connection. It uses the typescript language and modern frameworks such as Electron.js, Vue.js, Next.js, REST/REST APIs, MYSQL, Amazon Web Services, and other Cloud Computing services.
Teachcomp currently serves school-age children, adolescents, and adults who do not have access to quality and inclusive digital skills education and hence cannot do much in civic participation, such as collaborative problem-solving.
Myself and my team are well positioned to deliver this solution by engaging school-age children and young adults who reside within the local government in digital skills boot camps that help them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which play an important role in civic action.
