Clinify
Healthcare providers encounter numerous challenges, such as low digitization of health records, inadequate technology infrastructure for out-of-pocket patient payments, and insufficient technology integration with health insurance providers. Additionally, they grapple with complexities resulting from connecting to various portals (over 60) of health insurance providers to verify, process, and submit health insurance claims, leading to slow and inefficient healthcare delivery processes across Africa.
On the other hand, health insurance providers face the predicament of lacking real-time insight into claims encounters accumulated by healthcare providers. Moreover, they confront the challenge of fictitious bills and treatments mismatch submitted by healthcare providers.
At Clinify, we have strategically positioned ourselves to address these issues by offering a centralized Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to healthcare providers, which seamlessly integrates with the backend system of health insurance providers, facilitating prompt and effortless claims submission. Simultaneously, we provide health insurance providers with real-time access to claims data, while also offering healthcare providers embedded out-of-pocket payment features. Thus, transforming healthcare delivery across Africa.
We currently serve 12,000+ patients, 130+ healthcare providers and 7 Health insurance companies currently using our software. We recently partnered with the largest state/province in Africa, Lagos (Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA)) which entails rolling out our solution across 2,100+ healthcare providers and 22 million citizens within the next 6 to 9 months. We are also in the final stages of conversation with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to roll out our solution across the entire country, which will involve onboarding 40,000 + healthcare providers and a population of 213 million citizens.
There is no limit to the number of customers we can serve due to cloud-based infrastructure. With cutting-edge efficiency and scalability as high priorities for our product, our goal is to cater to over 1.2 billion citizens across Africa and South America with more than 190,000 healthcare providers.
Our customers can be categorized into two main groups: healthcare providers, which encompass hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, diagnostic centers, and the like, as well as health insurance providers. Our ultimate aim is to enhance the quality of healthcare provision for patients throughout Africa with our innovative solution. By leveraging automation, we endeavor to drive operational efficiency in healthcare systems and improve healthcare outcomes on a larger scale.
Our solution is designed to make a significant impact on the lives of patients by addressing several key challenges in the African healthcare landscape. Firstly, we address the high incidence of errors in patients' case files, which is estimated to affect up to 70% of medical records in the region. Our software streamlines and automates record-keeping processes, significantly reducing the likelihood of errors in patient files.
Additionally, we seek to increase access to medical consultations for patients residing in remote and underserved regions through our integrated telemedicine platform. This feature allows patients to receive quality medical care remotely, bridging the gap in healthcare access between urban and rural areas.
Finally, our solution aims to centralize medical records across facilities to ensure that medical providers have access to up-to-date and comprehensive patient information, regardless of the medical facility the patient consults. This centralized record-keeping system streamlines healthcare provision, reduces redundancies and errors, and ultimately leads to better health outcomes for patients.

1. To ensure that all 5 million LASHMA enrollees (Lagos State residents) onboarded on our software can be verified for eligible healthcare provision across all 2,193 providers on the LASHMA network, as well as submit health insurance claims directly to LASHMA from the providers by December 2023 using our software. We would achieve this by completing backend integration and deployment with LASHMA and driving adoption across medical facilities in Lagos.
2. To process $1bn annually worth of insured and out-of-pocket patients' payments digitally i.e. consultations, immunizations, admissions, procedures, laboratory tests, radiology exams investigations etc., over the next 2 - 3 years, accounting for 8% of the market share. We aim to achieve this by partnering with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to process insured and out-of-pocket payments via the Clinify EMR, and to make this available for all healthcare providers on our platform.
3. To onboard 70 health insurance schemes across West Africa with 230 million active enrollees, processing over $5bn worth of insured and out-of-pocket patient payments over the next 3 - 5 years.

- 9. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
- 10. Reduced Inequalities
- 13. Climate Action
- 17. Partnerships for the Goals
We measure our progress in SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being - by tracking our coverage and provision of health information management systems to medical facilities in African regions.
Furthermore, we promote Gender Equality by ensuring that our workforce has near equal representation of the genders.
Lastly, we track our SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) impact goals by measuring the proportion of our partner medical network with access to internet and modern IT ammenities.
We expect our solution to have a lasting impact on the healthcare ecosystem of Africa. The introduction of a robust and well-integrated out-of-pocket payments system to medical facilities will shape the way cash transactions are made in hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, etc. across Africa. We also envisage that as we integrate with more health insurance companies, other health insurance providers will be inclined to integrate with us so as not to get left out. Furthermore, we envision patients having easy access to their medical records through the Clinify mobile app will serve to increase patients’ healthcare and wellness consciousness.
Additionally, the centralized EMR system will help policymakers make data-driven decisions to improve healthcare policies and allocate resources more effectively.
Our selected technologies serve the objective of developing an accessible, dependable, and service-oriented architecture. It guarantees the interoperability of health information technology, allowing for the coordinated exchange, analysis, and use of data. Additionally, it enables improved application scalability, easier system maintenance, and more accurate fault detection, isolation, and recovery.

Incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusivity (DEI) into Clinify has led to more equitable and inclusive system for all. The following approaches have helped us achieve this goal. Firstly, we conduct DEI assessments to identify areas that require improvement and develop an action plan to address these issues. This includes policies that promote DEI, guidelines on our hiring practices, training programs, and promotion criteria.
Secondly, we ensure that there is diversity in our leadership, management, and staff by recruiting and retaining employees from diverse backgrounds. Providing training programs that raise awareness of DEI issues and provide employees with the skills and knowledge to promote inclusivity in their work is also important to us.
Lastly, Clinify engages with diverse communities to understand their unique healthcare needs and perspectives. This engagement informs the development of products and services that are more inclusive and responsive to diverse populations. Regularly monitoring progress on DEI initiatives has also helped us assess the impact on our company's culture, staff, and partners.
We have 3 major revenue streams:
Yearly service fee per enrollee: For our partnerships with health insurance partners, we charge a yearly service fee per enrollee varying anywhere from $0.5 to $1.5
Out-of-pocket patient payments: We take a transaction fee of 1%-3% for every healthcare payment made by patients in the healthcare facilities we have deployed at
Clinify Inventory Management: Healthcare providers pay a subscription monthly of $25 and $250 yearly for using our inventory management feature.
- Organizations (B2B)
Our financial sustainability plan for Clinify involves implementing transaction fees for every healthcare payment made through our platform. With the healthcare out-of-pocket market in Africa alone being valued at over $256 billion, the potential for generating revenue through this approach is significant. The implementation of transaction fees would allow us to not only achieve financial sustainability but also improve the efficiency and transparency of healthcare payments.
Furthermore, we have established partnerships with state health insurance companies to provide widespread deployment of our electronic medical record (EMR) system. This deployment model operates on a flat fee per enrollee basis, which provides a scalable approach to generating revenue while also ensuring that our services are accessible to a broader audience.
By adopting this highly scalable model, we can create a sustainable business model that is capable of meeting the diverse healthcare needs of the population. Our partnership with state health insurance companies enables us to offer our services to a wider audience while generating sustainable revenue for our organization. This approach also ensures that we remain competitive in the industry, which ultimately positions us for long-term success.
We are pleased to announce that we have successfully secured $1.5 million (https://betakit.com/doctor-bac...) in venture capital funding to support the implementation and growth of our health technology company. This funding represents a significant milestone for our organization and a testament to our vision of improving the quality of healthcare delivery in Africa through innovative technology solutions.
As part of our business model implementation, we have established partnerships with prominent organizations such as the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) and National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). Through these partnerships, we are able to offer our cutting-edge technology solutions to a wider audience and provide enhanced healthcare services across Nigeria.
Our partnerships with LASHMA and NHIA reflects our commitment to providing inclusive healthcare services to all Nigerians. With their extensive network and reach, we can bring our innovative technology solutions to communities that would otherwise have limited access to quality healthcare services.
Overall, the successful funding round and partnerships reflect our continued dedication to improving the healthcare system in Africa. We remain focused on creating innovative solutions that promote equitable access to quality healthcare services for all.
