UnifyAid
The specific problem that UnifyAid is addressing is the lack of access to quality healthcare services in fragile contexts. These contexts can be characterized by factors such as conflict, displacement, natural disasters, weak governance, poverty, and institutional inequities, among others. These factors contribute to the weakening or collapse of healthcare systems, making it difficult for underserved communities to access the care they need.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than half of the world's population does not have access to essential health services, and millions of people are pushed into poverty each year due to high healthcare costs. This problem is particularly acute in fragile contexts, where access to healthcare can be limited or non-existent.
UnifyAid's solution aims to address this problem by leveraging blockchain technology and incentive-based models to increase access to and uptake of healthcare services. By providing patients in fragile contexts with tokens that can be redeemed for goods or services, UnifyAid is incentivizing them to actively engage with healthcare providers and take ownership of their health.
The scale of the problem that UnifyAid is addressing is significant. Fragile contexts affect more than 1.6 billion people globally, and many of these individuals lack access to essential health services. In many of these contexts, underserved communities are disproportionately affected, including women and girls, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and older adults.
Factors contributing to the problem include weak healthcare systems, limited healthcare infrastructure, lack of funding, and political instability, among others. UnifyAid's solution addresses these factors by providing a sustainable and scalable model for increasing access to and uptake of healthcare services, empowering patients to take control of their health and well-being, and building resilience in healthcare systems in fragile contexts.
UnifyAid, is a digital health platform that aims to improve healthcare adoption in fragile contexts through an incentivized approach. Using blockchain technology, our platform rewards patients for engaging with healthcare services and adhering to treatment plans. Patients receive tokens as a reward for completing tasks such as attending appointments, taking medication, and engaging in healthy behaviors. These tokens can be exchanged for goods and services they need, such as food or transportation, or can be used to access additional healthcare services.
UnifyAid also provides local language and voice support through generative AI, making it accessible to patients who may not be literate or who do not have access to smartphones. For patients without mobile phones, healthcare workers or community champions can use the app on their behalf, and the app can also work through SMS integration for non-smartphone users.
Our platform also supports local health systems by providing data analytics to governments, aid groups, and local health systems. This allows them to make informed decisions and investments to improve healthcare services in fragile contexts.
UnifyAid is a scalable and sustainable solution that uses technology to incentivize healthcare adoption and improve health outcomes in vulnerable communities.
UnifyAid solution targets vulnerable and underserved populations living in fragile contexts, including communities affected by conflict, displacement, natural disasters, and systemic and institutional inequities. These populations are often marginalized and lack access to adequate healthcare services, leading to poor health outcomes and increased mortality rates.
Our solution aims to improve the accessibility and quality of healthcare services for these populations by leveraging a token-based incentive model that encourages active participation in their health journey. This model will encourage patients to regularly attend health appointments, adhere to medication regimens, and adopt healthy behaviors. Patients can earn tokens for their participation and redeem them for purchasing essential goods or services, such as food, medicine, or transportation.
Our solution will also integrate local language support and voice support using generative AI to ensure accessibility and ease of use for patients with limited literacy or those who speak local languages. Furthermore, healthcare workers or community champions can use the app on behalf of patients who do not have mobile phones, and the app can work through SMS integration for non-smartphone users.
Through these measures, UnifyAid aims to directly and meaningfully improve the lives of vulnerable and underserved populations in fragile contexts, by providing access to essential healthcare services, promoting healthy behaviors, and increasing patient engagement in their health journey.

UnifyAid's theory of change is based on the premise that incentivizing individuals through a token-based model can lead to increased healthcare adoption and improved health outcomes, especially in fragile contexts. Our solution incentivizes patients to actively engage with healthcare services and follow through with treatment plans by rewarding them with digital tokens that can be used to purchase essential goods or services they need.
UnifyAid's token-based model is built on a blockchain-based platform that uses smart contracts to automate the process of token distribution, tracking, and redemption. The platform enables healthcare workers, community champions, and patients to access the token system easily through mobile phones or SMS services.
Our solution's activities include developing a mobile application and SMS integration that enables easy access to the token-based incentive system for healthcare service adoption. Our immediate outputs include an increase in healthcare service adoption, improved health outcomes, and increased patient engagement. Our long-term outcomes include the creation of a sustainable and resilient healthcare system, improved access to healthcare services for underserved communities, and improved health outcomes for patients in fragile contexts.
To ensure the efficacy of our solution, we will conduct a process and impact evaluation that will include third-party research, interviews with our target population, and data analysis. This evaluation will help us refine our solution and ensure that it is achieving its intended outcomes.

- Organizations (B2B)
UnifyAid plans to generate revenue through a combination of fee-for-service contracts, software licensing, and transaction fees on the UnifyAid platform. We plan to offer UnifyAid as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution to governments, aid organizations, and healthcare providers operating in fragile contexts. We will charge these entities a subscription fee to access the platform and its features, including data analytics, patient engagement tools, and token-based incentives for healthcare adoption.
In addition, we will also generate revenue by licensing UnifyAid's underlying technology to other organizations interested in building similar solutions. We also plan to earn revenue from transaction fees on the UnifyAid platform when patients redeem their incentive tokens for goods and services.
As we continue to grow, we will explore additional revenue streams, such as partnerships with insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies looking to improve healthcare access and outcomes in fragile contexts. We have successfully achived this with VaccineLedger, our other Solve winning application, where the additional supply chain visisbility we created in consumed by the Pharmaceutical companies and they pay for such services.
Overall, our goal is to achieve financial sustainability by balancing revenue-generating activities with social impact and ensuring that our revenue streams cover our operational expenses while allowing us to continue to grow and expand our impact.
One example of how our plan to achieve financial sustainability has been successful so far is with our flagship product, VaccineLedger. We have successfully onboarded several clients, including pharmaceutical companies such as GSK, on a recurring revenue model of USD 150,000 for every million products tracked. This has allowed us to generate revenue and reinvest it back into our solution, further improving its capabilities and expanding our reach. Additionally, we have received funding from various sources, including grants from organizations like UNICEF as well as investment from private investors. These funding sources have helped us to further develop and scale our solutions.
