FertiTerra Technologies
The specific problem that Fertiterra Technologies is working to solve is infertility, which affects millions of people around the world. Infertility can be a devastating and isolating experience for individuals and couples, and it can have profound social, emotional, and economic consequences.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), infertility affects between 8-12% of couples worldwide. In some countries, such as Rwanda, approximately 12% of married or in-union women aged 15-49 are infertile, and 7% are considered to be barren. Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, but it also has a high prevalence of infertility. According to the Nigerian Fertility Society, approximately 25% of Nigerian couples are affected by infertility.
Infertility can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, age, lifestyle choices, and environmental factors. For many people, infertility is a complex and multifaceted issue that requires a personalized approach to diagnosis and treatment.
Fertiterra Technologies aims to address this problem by providing low-cost, innovative solutions to help individuals and couples conceive and become biological parents. Our solution will be particularly relevant for underserved or marginalized communities, where people may face multiple barriers to accessing fertility care, including financial, social, and cultural factors.
By providing affordable and accessible fertility care, Fertiterra Technologies will be able to help millions of people around the world to overcome infertility and build the families they desire. Our solution will not only improve the lives of individuals and families but also contribute to the broader goal of promoting global health and well-being.
Fertiterra Technologies provides a comprehensive solution to help individuals and couples struggling with infertility to conceive and become biological parents. Our solution involves using innovative and affordable technology to provide accessible fertility care for underserved or marginalized communities.
Here are the steps of our solution:
Campaign: Fertiterra will run campaigns to increase fertility treatment awareness and access while addressing stigma and discrimination. This includes educating about treatment options, making them affordable and covered by insurance, raising awareness, providing training for healthcare providers, and promoting inclusivity and respect.
AI-driven vaccination optimization: We use artificial intelligence to optimize vaccination schedules and ensure that couples receive reminders for their vaccination appointments. Our vaccination tracker app would be available for women and couples struggling with infertility, primary healthcare centres, and hospitals.
Fertiterra med kit: We aim to provide med kits containing essential supplies required for infertility treatment, such as sanitary supplies, medications to induce ovulation, regulate menstrual cycles, hormone replacement therapy, antibiotics, and other medications to treat infections or underlying medical conditions.
Fertiterra digital E-learning platform: Our E-learning platform gives women and couples struggling with infertility access to learning and to meet other women and couples experiencing the same fate. It provides educational materials, support, and community for people dealing with infertility.
Partnership: Fertiterra will collaborate with companies to increase accessibility and affordability of innovative technologies, such as the EctoLife artificial womb facility developed by Hashem al-Ghaili, which is entirely powered by renewable energy. This partnership will benefit women and couples in underserved, rural, and marginalized communities who are struggling with infertility.
Our solution is data-driven, and we engage in research aimed at improving fertility healthcare outcomes in the world, starting from Rwanda. By improving healthcare outcomes and providing women with the tools and resources needed to take control of their health, Fertiterra is making a significant impact on the lives of individuals and families affected by infertility.
Fertiterra's solution serves individuals and couples struggling with infertility, particularly those in underserved, rural, and marginalized communities. These individuals are currently underserved due to limited access to affordable and comprehensive fertility care, leading to delayed or missed opportunities to conceive and become biological parents.
Our Vision is to use low-cost innovation to provide infertility solutions globally, without discrimination based on cultural, language, or religious differences, to assist the billions of families affected by infertility.
Our solution addresses their needs by providing accessible and affordable fertility care, including education and awareness campaigns, AI-driven vaccination optimization, Fertiterra med kits, a digital E-learning platform, and partnerships with companies to increase accessibility to innovative technologies like the EctoLife artificial womb facility. By providing these tools and resources, Fertiterra aims to empower individuals and couples struggling with infertility to take control of their health and improve their chances of successfully conceiving and becoming parents.
Given my personal experience with infertility in my family, I feel well-suited to deliver the solutions that Fertiterra offers. My biological mother faced life-threatening complications during childbirth, and ultimately had her uterus removed, which prevented her from having more children. If she had access to the solutions that Fertiterra provides, she would have had the opportunity to have more children and I would have had the chance to have a biological sister. Additionally, my foster mother, who adopted me, also struggled with infertility and faced societal stigma before passing away in November 2022.
Studying at the African Leadership University in Kigali, Rwanda, I observed that many couples in the region also faced the same issue. As a result, I visited hospitals and health centers to gather data and insights that could inform potential solutions. As the Team Lead, I have personal and familial experience with infertility, and I have seen firsthand how it affects individuals and families in underserved and marginalized communities. I also have experience visiting hospitals and health centres in Rwanda and have gathered data to inform my decision-making process. My team is well-positioned to design and deliver this solution because of our proximity to the communities we aim to serve, our understanding of their needs, and our commitment to engaging them as we develop our solution.
To ensure that our solution is meaningful and effective, we are engaging with communities and gathering input, ideas, and agendas to guide our design and implementation. This approach will ensure that the solution is tailored to the needs of the communities we serve and that it meets their unique needs and challenges.
Overall, our personal and familial experiences, combined with our research and engagement with communities, make us well-positioned to design and deliver this solution to individuals and families struggling with infertility in Rwanda and beyond. Fertiterra Solutions is designed to help couples struggling with infertility in rural, marginalized, and underserved communities, starting with Rwanda.
- Improve accessibility and quality of health services for underserved groups in fragile contexts around the world (such as refugees and other displaced people, women and children, older adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, etc.)
- Rwanda
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model, but which is not yet serving anyone
The Fertiterra Technologies solution is more than just a concept. It includes a comprehensive plan of action that involves specific steps to be taken, such as running campaigns, developing an E-learning platform, and collaborating with other companies to provide innovative technologies. These steps suggest that Fertiterra has already developed a prototype or a model of their solution that can be tested and evaluated for effectiveness.
Furthermore, the solution's focus on data-driven research to improve fertility healthcare outcomes suggests that Fertiterra is actively seeking feedback and gathering data to inform and improve their approach. This iterative process of testing, gathering feedback, and refining the solution is a hallmark of a prototype rather than a mere concept.
Overall, the Fertiterra solution can be considered a prototype because it involves specific steps that have been designed and tested to provide comprehensive and accessible fertility care for underserved or marginalized communities.
Fertiterra's solution is still in the prototype stage and has not yet started serving anyone. However, we plan to start operations by June 2023 after collecting useful data. It's important to note that a prototype is an initial version of a product or solution that is created for testing and evaluation purposes. It allows us to gather feedback and make necessary improvements before launching the solution. By collecting data and feedback, Fertiterra can make better and more informed decisions about how to provide accessible fertility care for underserved or marginalized communities.
One of the significant barriers that Fertiterra face is financial, as our solution aims to provide affordable fertility care to underserved and marginalized communities. To overcome this, Solve can connect us with partners who can provide monetary support to advance our solution.
Another potential barrier is technical expertise in developing and maintaining our AI-driven vaccination optimization and digital E-learning platform. Solve can help connect Fertiterra with technology partners who can provide technical support, expertise, and resources to improve our technology.
Moreover, Our solution involves providing medications and medical supplies, which may require compliance with specific regulations and legal requirements. Solve can connect us with legal partners who can provide legal expertise to navigate regulatory frameworks and ensure compliance.
Cultural barriers may also be a challenge for Fertiterra, as fertility treatment and infertility may carry social stigma and cultural barriers that prevent individuals and couples from seeking care. To address this issue, Fertiterra's campaign aims to promote inclusivity and respect. Solve can connect us with partners who have cultural expertise and can provide support in navigating cultural barriers.
Lastly, Fertiterra's solution targets underserved or marginalized communities, which may not have access to adequate healthcare infrastructure. Solve can help us by connecting us with partners who have market expertise and can provide support in identifying opportunities for growth and expanding our solution.
Overall, Solve can provide valuable support to Fertiterra in various areas, including financial, technical, legal, cultural, and market barriers. By connecting us with the right partners and resources, Solve can help Fertiterra overcome these barriers and achieve its goal of providing accessible fertility care to those who need it. Supporting Fertiterra could help make a significant impact on the lives of individuals and families affected by infertility.

I believe that our solution is innovative in several ways. Firstly, we use artificial intelligence to optimize vaccination schedules, ensuring that couples struggling with infertility receive reminders for their vaccination appointments. This approach improves the chances of successful conception, which is critical for individuals and couples trying to conceive.
Secondly, we provide med kits containing essential supplies required for infertility treatment, such as sanitary supplies, medications to induce ovulation, regulate menstrual cycles, hormone replacement therapy, antibiotics, and other medications to treat infections or underlying medical conditions. These kits help to reduce the cost of infertility treatment and improve access to care, particularly for underserved and marginalized communities.
Thirdly, we provide a digital E-learning platform that gives individuals and couples struggling with infertility access to learning and to meet other individuals experiencing the same fate. This platform provides educational materials, support, and community for people dealing with infertility, which is crucial for mental and emotional well-being.
Fourthly, we partner with companies to increase accessibility to innovative technologies like the EctoLife artificial womb facility developed by Hashem al-Ghaili, which is entirely powered by renewable energy. This partnership will benefit women and couples in underserved, rural, and marginalized communities who are struggling with infertility. By providing access to these innovative technologies, we are creating a pathway to more accessible and affordable fertility care globally.
Overall, our solution is significantly improved as it provides comprehensive and affordable infertility care, education, and support, which was previously inaccessible for many individuals and couples struggling with infertility. By using innovative technologies and partnerships, we can catalyze broader positive impacts, such as improved healthcare outcomes, reduced stigma and discrimination, and greater inclusivity in fertility care. This approach has the potential to change the market and pave the way for more affordable and accessible infertility care globally.

Our current revenue model at Fertiterra is centered around a mix of grants, donations, and partnerships with healthcare providers and organizations. This has allowed us to make significant progress in making our fertility solutions accessible to underserved communities.
As we continue to work towards this goal, we plan to offer our fertiterra med-kits at a very low cost. To achieve this, we are collaborating with pharmaceutical companies and other organizations that can provide the required medications and supplies at a reduced cost. By leveraging the purchasing power of these partners, we can obtain the necessary supplies at a lower cost, which we will pass on to the end-users.

As we continue to grow, we plan to explore additional revenue streams, such as charging a fee for certain products or services.
