Safepad from recycled plastic
Real Relief’s mission is to challenge – innovate – apply. We aim to challenge existing value chains to provide relief to more people in need by challenging traditional solutions. Over 500 000 000 girls/women are affected by period poverty, and they are not able to afford a proper sanitary product to experience healthy and shame free period. This reason led Real Relief towards creating a reusable sanitary pad.
We are the first users of antimicrobial treatment that is applied onto reusable menstrual pads. The antimicrobial technology is based on a treatment that leaves a positively charged layer on the fabric. This layer attracts and kills negatively charged microbes (bacteria & fungi) which ensures every woman with infection free period.
We are targeting all menstruating women especially in 3rd world countries to improve their menstrual health management.
Real Relief focuses on sustainability, women empowerment & environmental friendliness around the globe. We managed to establish a regular Safepad manufacturing in India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Nigeria. All production sites offer workplaces to empower women and support gender equality.
In order to improve women’s menstrual hygiene management, we applied antimicrobial technology on the Safepad’s fabric. The antimicrobial technology helps reducing vaginal infections caused by Candida albicans along with infections from other pathogens. This means that the Safepad basically disinfect itself.
- Enable continuity of care, particularly around primary health, complex or chronic diseases, and mental health and well-being.

- Growth: An organization with an established product, service, or business model that is rolled out in one or more communities
Since we launched the product we sold 7 000 000 Safepads.
Real Relief has a constant need for innovation and funding to unsure development of life relieve products.
We aim for internalization of our manufacturing process of Safepad. We are currently aiming for countries with the highest rate of period poverty.
- Product / Service Distribution (e.g. delivery, logistics, expanding client base)
We are the first globally offered reusable menstrual pad with antimicrobial treatment. As of now we also introduced first prototype of our Safepad from recycled plastic with the same superior performance.

The collected plastic waste is sorted and cleaned before it is processed. The sauteed and cleaned plastic waste is being melted and extruded to form strong and durable polyester yarns. These yarns can be used for a multitude of purposes one of which is to make strong durable fabrics. Our increasing effort to make Safepad – the safest and most environmentally friendly reusable menstrual pad in the world, Real Relief is now introducing Safepad made from recycles plastic bottles. As of now we have 1st prototype of Safepad from recycled plastic, within the next year we want finalize the product for it to reach our B2B and B2C market.

Safepad sold 7 000 000 in the past + we want to achieve 1-2 million Safepad sales this year.
Work placed created by internalization of Safepad production as of now we have 8 production sites around the globe + adding 2 more Safepad production sites this year.
We are hoping to stop period shaming, eliminate period stigma and lower period poverty. In 2017, 14 year old girl in Kenya took her own life after she got her first period during school lesson. The teacher branded her ‘dirty’ and she expelled her from the classroom. Real Relief wants to make sure that nothing like that ever happens again. We are hoping for different cultures, communities and religions to accept menstruation as a natural part of woman's body.
Safepad is manufactured with a permanently bonded antimicrobial technology that helps reducing vaginal infections caused by Candida albicans along with infections from other pathogens. The antimicrobial technology is based on a treatment that leaves a positively charged layer on the fabric. This layer will attract and kill the negatively charged microbes, like bacteria and fungi. The treatment does not contain any harmful chemicals. The permanently bonded antimicrobial fabric along with a highly absorbent material provides a comfortable and hygienic experience for the women.
