AJC MAROC
In Morocco, a country of Arab-Berber-Muslim culture, reproductive and sexual health is subject to a multifactorial influence of a biological, cultural, ethical, psychological, social, etc. order. As a result, sexual and reproductive health must be the subject of learning, insofar as it contributes to creating gender since it is at the origin of the identification of individuals with one sex in an antagonistic relationship and complementary with another sex. Its biological dimension does not require that it be allowed to evolve naturally, outside the field of education and knowledge. Sexual and reproductive health deals with the most intimate and private aspects, so it is difficult to talk about it openly and publicly, especially in rural areas. Cultural sensitivities and taboos often prevent young girls from getting information.
The project is composed of awareness campaigns for the benefit of rural girls in the rural communes of the region of Guelmim Ouad Noun.
As for the technology used, awareness campaigns are carried out using a computer and a projector in order to deliver information to the targets of the project. On the other hand, reliance is placed on the social networking pages of the association in defining the initiative and its results, and the media team of the association (photography, montage...) is relied upon to document and publishing the activities on the association's website and other media channels.
Sexual and reproductive health deals with the most intimate and private aspects, it is around these issues that the project is aimed at a target audience of more than 1,000 girls, primarily made up of young rural girls aged 11 to 19.
It is during these years that many girls are exposed to physical, physiological and psychological transformations related to puberty. It is also a crucial period to give young girls the most complete information on their reproductive health before they become sexually active within the framework of marriage.
The project can ensure the strengthening of the autonomy of these young girls in the area of their SRH and strengthen their skills so that they are able to make choices and act for their development and control of their reproductive health.
The association had previously organized an awareness campaign for the benefit of the girls of the village in the field of reproductive health during the past year, targeting 400 beneficiaries, so it has the experience and the motivation to make this project a success. To achieve this, the association will work to strengthen the capacities of 12 activists in order to expand the number of beneficiaries and the places of targeting.
In order to obtain positive results, the association works with a group of partners and collaborators, in particular: the Association of Creative Women and the Association of Midwives, in addition to schools and student houses. .
- Improve accessibility and quality of health services for underserved groups in fragile contexts around the world (such as refugees and other displaced people, women and children, older adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, etc.)
- Morocco
- Growth: An organization with an established product, service, or business model that is rolled out in one or more communities
More than 400 village girls between the ages of 11 and 19
We need more in-kind support, including personal hygiene materials, for the benefit of village girls who are targeted by awareness campaigns, in addition to strengthening the capabilities of the work team in the skills of dealing with groups from different cultures: the rule of custom, traditional culture...
- Product / Service Distribution (e.g. delivery, logistics, expanding client base)
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design)
A lot of work has been done by the members of the two associations in order to collect data and communicate directly with potential beneficiaries in many rural areas that should be targeted by the project.
My impact goals for the next year
• It is expected that more than 1000 rural girls will be sensitized in the field of sexual and reproductive health
• Targeting of more than 10 rural communes in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region.
• Provide knowledge and advice to deal with physiological changes in girls during puberty
• Combat misinformation associated with this age range of a girl's life
• Distribution of a kit: hygiene product
• Distribution of awareness leaflets
My impact goals for the next five years
• It is expected that more than 6,000 rural girls will be sensitized in the field of sexual and reproductive health
• Targeting of more than 50 rural communes in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region..
- 3. Good Health and Well-being
- 5. Gender Equality
- 16. Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
Among the indicators used to measure progress are:
Number of beneficiaries
number of visits
The number of targeted villages
Taboos surrounding sexuality often prevent women and young people from obtaining information, especially in rural areas.
Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but for our association it is also a necessary foundation for the establishment of a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
the periodic visits programmed in this capacity building project for girls in the field of reproductive health can be a therapeutic tool for the transmission of correct information and to fight against misinformation and discrimination.
At the end of the project, the project aims to provide an informational application that provides village girls with various tips in the field of sexual and reproductive health, in addition to providing statistics on the social conditions of girls in the various targeted rural areas, with the aim of using them in the future in responding to the urgent needs of these communities.
