HealthBridge
our solution is addressing is the lack of access to quality healthcare and health system resilience in fragile contexts around the world. Over 1.6 billion people, or a quarter of the world's population, are affected by conflict, displacement, and natural disasters that worsen the availability and quality of health services in weak health systems, leading to increased mortality, disease, and poor mental health.
In fragile contexts, systemic inequities and institutional failures result in underserved communities, such as women and girls, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and older adults, being disproportionately affected. Our solution aims to address this problem by leveraging technology and innovation to increase local capacity and resilience in health systems, ensuring informed decision-making, and improving accessibility and quality of care for underserved groups.
Relevant statistics include the World Health Organization's estimate that approximately 100 million people are pushed into extreme poverty each year due to health expenses, and the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre's estimate that over 41 million people were displaced by conflict, violence, and disasters in 2020 alone.
The solution is a technology-based platform that aims to increase local capacity and resilience in health systems in fragile contexts, improve accessibility and quality of care for underserved communities, and enable informed decision-making by governments, local health systems, and aid groups.
The platform leverages cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and mobile health to improve health system operations, delivery of care, and governance. For example, the platform can use machine learning algorithms to analyze large amounts of health-related data to inform decision-making and improve health outcomes. Additionally, the platform can use mobile health tools to connect underserved communities with health services, enabling continuity of care even in remote or hard-to-reach areas.
The platform is designed with an inclusive, human-centered approach to ensure that the needs and perspectives of all users, including less visible groups, are incorporated into its development and implementation. The platform is also scalable and has the potential for partnerships, allowing it to have a wide reach and significant impact in fragile contexts around the world.
It serves the underserved communities in fragile contexts around the world, including but not limited to, refugees and other displaced people, women and children, older adults, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals.
These communities are often disproportionately affected by conflict, displacement, and natural disasters, which can worsen the availability and quality of health services in contexts where health systems are already weak. As a result, these communities are at a higher risk of death, disease, and poor mental health.
Our solution addresses the needs of these communities by improving access to and quality of health services, increasing local capacity and resilience in health systems, and enabling informed decision-making by governments, local health systems, and aid groups. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and mobile health, the solution can improve health system operations, delivery of care, and governance.
For example, the platform can use mobile health tools to connect underserved communities with health services, enabling continuity of care even in remote or hard-to-reach areas. Additionally, the platform can use machine learning algorithms to analyze large amounts of health-related data to inform decision-making and improve health outcomes.
By improving access to health services and strengthening health systems, the solution will have a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of the target population, reducing the risk of death, disease, and poor mental health, and improving overall health outcomes.
