Chefserve
Currently, mainstream cuisines have become too commercial, boring, largely unhealthy and increasingly unappealing. Since its inception in the 1950s, the restaurant industry has seen very little exciting updates leaving customers with the same recurring options. Chefserve is an online platform which connects customers to local chefs dubbed "pretend chefs" to provide fresh, healthy, exciting, diverse and affordable HOMEMADE cuisines from different cultures across the globe. Our platform can be particularly useful for people who are too busy to cook, those who may not have access to fresh ingredients, or those who want to try new, exciting and diverse dishes. This option provides for a healthy, tailored and personalized experience.
On the other end, according to a 2023 report, the US is home to about 45 million immigrants, which accounts for 14% of the total population, with Mexico, India, and China leading the chart. Racial disparities continue to pose a huge challenge for employment- epi.org reports that the ratio of black to white unemployment came in at 6.8-1 in Q4 2022 (with black unemployment hitting 10.9% to 4.1% in there white counterparts). Similarly, hispanic unemployment came in at 1.5-1 when compared to white unemployment.
Chefserve can provide a cost-effective solution to address unemployment and food insecurity, especially linked to discrimination, particularly against women, ethnic minorities and people of color and is often linked to financial exclusion.
Chefserve is a user friendly web-based and mobile platform that leverages the latest technology, including predictive AI, to ensure food safety compliance monitoring, effective cleaning in place systems, anticipating consumer preference and new product development with greater efficiency and savings on time and resources. Our platform enables vendors to connect with potential customers, providing a scalable solution to food insecurity and promoting entrepreneurship and employment. We believe that our innovative approach can provide a sustainable solution to address financial exclusion.
The app comprises of an easy sign up and log in feature. The vendor is required to create an account and showcase their exceptional culinary skills/expertise. This skill can be in making a specific cultural cuisine like a homemade Tikka Masala or jollof rice. As part of sign up the chef is required to upload their workstation (Kitchen) to ensure that it is clean, free from clutter and gives the consumer confidence of where his meal is coming from.
At the end of every service, the customer has the ability rate the vendor based on quality of the food, speed of response, on time delivery and customer service.
The app also has a feature called rent-a-chef. Rent-A-Chef offers a wide range of services, including private chefs for special events, cooking classes, and meal prep services etc. This service provides customers with the convenience and flexibility to browse through a variety of chefs and "Pretend Chefs" and their menus, read reviews, and make a booking with just a few clicks.
Once complete, the app will have a direct interface with other food delivery services like uber eats and door dash to ensure timely delivery of the prepared meals. The long term plan is to launch our own food delivery option to ensure seamless end-to-end service offering.
Our secure payment system ensures a hassle-free and seamless transaction for customers.
At Chefserve, we prioritize inclusive human-centered design, ensuring that our platform is accessible to all users. Chefserve is open and available to all and is intended to cater to everyones need. We believe in connecting the world one meal at a time. As a person of color and an immigrant, I constantly pondered how best to share our local Nigerian cuisine most expertly prepared by my younger sister to the rest of the world and that was how the idea was born. This tool is intended to empower, create entrepreneurship and employment opportunities with women, immigrants, people of color in mind.
Our team is currently leveraging consultants and mentors in navigating the very dynamic space of tech start up. We are building teams as we grow but remain focused in putting the tool out into the public space.

1. To gain Access to resources and Network:
With my background in drug development and pharma sciences, I have limited knowledge of the tech industry but have a clear vision of the problem and solution. I hope to get connected with fellow solvers and also mentors to help me navigate the challenges associated with new product introduction, Business planning, Legal/regulatory as well as public relations and financial support.
2. Learning and Growth
With the Solve experience, I intend to learn and grow in an area that is otherwise outside my comfort zone and expertise while also providing meaningful solution that is easy to comprehend and addresses a social challenge. The application process for example has been a valuable learning experience pointing me to what i should be focusing on as we prepare to launch.
3. Visibility and Validation: Solve provides a unique platform that strives to support finalists in there selected areas of focus- This visibility I believe will help grow and support our model in changing the world one meal at a time. Furthermore, being a solve finalist will validate this solution as a viable solution to reducing financial exclusion especially in under represented communities.
- Financial (e.g. accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Legal or Regulatory Matters
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
