Urban-Biz
The Covid-19 pandemic heavily affected poor urban dwellers in Malaysia. While 7% of low-cost public housing flats (PPR) household heads had never attended school, 59% of them had at least a secondary education. They are only able to find low-skilled employment with low wages due to their lower educational attainment. Given the impact of Covid-19 and the fact that 3.8% of PPR household heads work on a temporary or part-time job. Around 20% of households in PPRs are self-employed or run small companies to make a living. Hence, the hysteresis impact of Covid-19 is hugely impacted poor urban and imposed a big threat to quality of life.
