Boons Food Common Initiative Group
My project is about the construction of biogas plants in different communities. I am committed to resolve the problem of deforestation for fuel wood, the problem of waste management in our communities and the problem of having an alternative source of energy.
My solution will change the lives of many across the globe it is went global. It will reduce the effects of climate change caused by deforestation and poor waste management and also provide an alternative source of energy to millions who are currently suffering from local and poor sources of energy.
I am working to resolve the problem of deforestation. Many trees are cut dow daily to be used as fuel word. I am also resolving the problem of pollution caused by poor waste management. There are millions of people affected by the effects of deforestation and poor waste management in the world. A report by the United Nations shows that if waste is not managed well, in the near future, we may not have seas and oceans again.
I am working with rural communities and population mostly in Cameroon. They lack alternative sources of energy and most of them are using fuel wood and bush lamps.
I am educating them to see the importance of having biogas plants in their communities for the good of everyone. I am helping them to seethe effects of deforestation, poor waste management and pollution. So with this, they are providing labour and feeding to make the work go ahead.
The solution will address their needs. Firstly, it will help them have an alternative source of energy which they have not had for ages now.
My solution is the provision of biogas plants in the communities.
I am using the Floating Dome Model Biogas plants technology.
The process involves the following:
We need a
Digester, gas collector, gas control valva, inlet tank with lid, outlet pipe, additional weight for pressure control and a water jacket and then a hole dug and cemented.
- Support communities in designing and determining solutions around critical services
- Growth
- New application of an existing technology
our solution is new in the sense that its the first of its kind in the communities where we work and its a new technology in these areas. It has offered a lot of relief to the local communities It is a major shift from the achaic ways of cooking using fuel wood to modern biogas plants which comes with electricity to areas where there has been electricity before, it comes with new was of waste management and a total transformation of the villages involved.
our solution is the planting of biogas plants in rural communities around. We use a mixture of gazes produced by a breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen to produce biogas. It is produced from raw materials such as agricultural waste, plant material, sewage, green waste or food waste.
Biogas plants help as alternative sources of energy to these communities. They are eco friendly, they reduce soil and water pollution. It is a simple and low cost technology that encourages a circular economy.
Its used mostly for healthy cooking alternatives especially for developing areas.
- Biomimicry
our communities being developing areas, lack proper means of disposing their waste, their principal source of cooking is fuel wood gotten from the falling down of trees. So our solution will provide them with an alternative source of cooking, it will will create a reliable and flexible power supply 24/7, it will create local jobs and many others. Our solution will help to bring not only an alternative source of energy but will relief the entire community from hardship.

We are currently serving 36000 people in different communities. In one year we shall be serving 70.000 people and in five years we'll be serving about 5 million people.
my goals within the next five years is to serve more than 5million people and to be present in at least 10 different countries and many communities. To plant biogas plants in many communities in different countries. We intend to reduce the effects of deforestation, poverty and climate pollution.
my major barrier is lack of financial support. I dont have sufficient funds to build as many biogas plants as possible in many communities.
Also due to cultural barriers, its difficult to penetrate certain certain communities.
I am getting more partners to help and finance the construction of Biogas Plants
I am also working with traditional and civil wwauthorities to overcome cultural difficulties.
- Nonprofit
we have 100 full time staff, 86 part time staff and 30 volunteers.
my team is very dynamic, adaptable to differences in language, culture, race, sex, age and others. We have had experiences with great success stories in many communities. We are best placed to deliver this solution especially because we are selfless, we are ready to sacrifice our time, energy, finances and resources for the good of poor communities.
Our key beneficiaries are local communities and our services are for non profit. We dont make any profit before, during or after our services. We built biogas plants for the benefit of the community.
our funding comes from donations, gifts and contributions from members. We are still working to get partners who can support us.
we are applying to solve because, through Solve, we shall meet and connect with other great solution providers to various problems and learn from them. Through Solve also, we maybe able to get partners and supporters to support our solution.
- Funding and revenue model
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Media and speaking opportunities
We'll like to partner with any organization and in anyway possible. We can partner with organizations that will help to fund our activities, to monitor or to evaluate our activities and also provide us with technical know how.
My team and I will like to apply for the community driven innovation prize. This is because our solution is basically community driven. We offer services for the growth and development of different communities. We work for the benefit of rural population. We shall use the prize to get into more communities and establish biogas plants therein.
