Save
Save is a social network for communities, to prevent perilous situations, and to stop worrying about where our relatives, friends, soul mates or colleagues are in real time. All around the world, there are security issues, and people need to be reassured about if people they care about are safe, even with no internet connection. Public services in Africa are not always useful to find someone missing, or to help quickly someone in a perilous situation. Communities have to be actors of their safety. With Save, Users can share real time locations with people they choose, and send alerts without even unlocking the cell phone in case of accident, robbery, rape. Save will surely help people enjoying life safely, while knowing that if they have an issue, they can easily call for help. Save is adapted to environments where public services are more efficient.
In case of perilous situations, people may not have enough time to call, send an SMS, or to describe exactly where they are so that they can be helped. When road accidents occurs, 43% of people die because they spend too much time expecting ambulances, or looking for the closest hospitals, or no one knows they have an issue. Save will detect accidents and send instant notifications, to reduce the number of people dying. We can't spend a day without seeing posts about people missing, and their relatives are looking for them. Most of or users download the app on their parents phones after registering. With Save, we collect data as long as the phone is on, even in background. We will add prediction to be calculating the real time location even with no internet connection, to give the most precised last location. IoT for children and elderly, with automatic alerts for cases such as stroke anywhere the user is, will help doctors to be saving more lives.
Save is built for families, groups, NGO's, and we expect working soon with public services. We are listening to their needs when they have people in perilous situations, how they call for help, who they usually call, how they get help and from whom. With Save, they can share real time location, send alerts, with the feature sending alerts to people immediately around them when they have an issue, by displaying the closest hospitals wherever they are. You have a child or an ill parent, you are travelling in your country, or in a country you don't know that well, you are an NGO in a risky area, Save is the solution to your problem. The weekly number of alerts is 150, and we know we are still far of the real time number.
Save is a real time location and secured app that optimizes assistance to people in perilous situation, having in real time all necessary data including the position, description of the situation, and hospitals nearby.
Save allows each user to create a group of people of their choice. The visibility of location in real time in normal situation is random, but automatic as soon as an alert is triggered. The user can send alerts to his group and nearby users (radius of 1000 meters), and see nearby support points directly on the map. Each user can upgrade to have the following features: sending SMS alerts, sending alerts without unlocking the phone. The app can be monitored par public services to know in real time who is in a perilous situation, and where he is exactly.
But Save is not focused in spying people, where there are no issues. Users can hide their real time location, and only share it when they face a perilous situation. So we added a few interactions for users, and we are still building features around risky areas, areas with no signal, finding missing people, so that everyone, with their phone, could help with the data they are sharing. So, Save is more a social network around safety for friends and families.
- Support communities in designing and determining solutions around critical services
- Pilot
- New application of an existing technology
Save gives comfort to the user by leaving out all the features related to tracking including location history, notifications on arrival and departure from places like home, work office, or trip notifications. Every one wants to be safe, but it is still unconfortable to permanently share locations with family or relatives. So first of all, the user decides when he share his location. To go further, the display of real time location is random in normal situation, but as soon as an alert is triggered, the location is shared. One other main point is the members of the group that are not necessarily the people immediately around the user in perilous situation, so the alert is also sent to users nearby, within a radius of 1000 meters. They will receive yout alert, see your current location for a short period of time. In case of low coverage, alerts can also be sent by SMS. Save suggests the closest hospitals wherever the user is, so he or his relative could get there quickly for medical help.
Save will revolutionize the way users share their location. We use real time location in a user friendly way. Location sharing will be done not by constraint, but by choice, to show others where they are and what they do, with a few interactive features. Directly on the map, users could share media of what they are doing in real time, to not be focused on tracking. Save uses geolocation to improve the people's lives, to help them enjoying life in complete safety. Each user can send alerts without having to unlock their phone. Alerting loved ones is commonly done by phone call or SMS, and in general, time is lacking in some situations. Some features like the detection of violent shocks, notifications in case of natural disaster, are being added.

Save will solve the problem of time by allowing each user to send an alert by pressing a button or shaking his phone, which he usually does by calling a relative or sending an SMS. Save will solve the missing person search problem by having at least the last known location, or by being able to find him directly if he has his mobile phone nearby. Save brings the solution to a permanent interrogation to know which is the hospital closest to our current position, and what services are available there.

Actually, our solution is used by more than two thousand people, as we started a few months ago. In one year, we expect be serving more than 50 000 people. In five years, we expect serving more than two millions of people.
Our goals for the next year are:
- reducing the number of missing persons around the country
- reducing the number of people dying after accidents
- reducing the cases of robbery, assault or rape in Cameroun
Our goals for the next five years are:
- reducing the number of missing persons around the continent
- providing connected watches for children and eldery
- using an IA to detect stroke, and send automatic alerts to people around
We have many barriers:
- financial: we need to have more people improving our app, or working to close deals, we will need more servers, bigger offices, and we have issues to find enough money to do that
- technical: we have very good ingeneers in our team, but they will need keep leanring and training, to improve all the specifications we already worked on and to build new ones
- market: up to now, we do not have a big deal with a state, company or NGO
To go through the financial issue, we are currently findind new markets where people could pay for our services, we are looking for investors, and applying to every challenge or competition, to win prizes and showcase our product to investors.
To go through the technical issue, we are actually hiring young graduate ingeneers, and we train them so that they could give us a new approcouh or a fresh thinking of how we could do or improve things. We are also looking for experienced guys, who already worked on projects like ours.
To go through the market issue, we are actually sendin offers to every singe company or NGO who may be interested by our services for their employees.
- For-Profit
There are actually 8 people working:
- 4 full time staff
- 3 part time staff
- 1 contractor
We are the best-placed to deliver this solution:
- 2 of us lost relatives because they hab no way to tell they were in a perillous situation
- 1 of us kept lookinf for his elder brother for days. He just went to school and bever came back
- Our CTO is a great ingeneer, and has worked several times on geolocation apps
- Our graphist is one of the bests all around the country
- Our CMO used to work for a great company, and built great strategies for sales
We have no partnership for the moment, but we are really close to sign a few ones, with public services, a few NGO's, and companies.
We provide more specifications for our premium account, such as alerts send without even unlocking the phone, just by shaking it, alerts sent through SMSs, and even with a low internet connection, or no internet connection. The app continues calculating your position so that if you trigger an alert, your last position is sent. We offer our premium services to NGOs, companies carring about where their employees are, if they are safe. We also propose our services to public state services, so they could receive all the alerts from users, and know excatly where they are at that precised moment.
We are currently applying to every competition or challenge to earn money. We also work for traction and organic growth, and we propose our advanced features to families. We are also willing to raise funds, but in Cameroon, we haven' found VCs or business angels yet. We showcase our services everywhere we are called, and we will close enough deals in a few months to be able to handle our activity and to fund our work.
First of all, we are applying to challenge our idea, our product, to know what Solve thinks about our idea, to know if it is good enough to be selected to attend the event. Then, we are lookng for finances. The most difficult part of being a startup in Africa is how you fund your activity. Finally, we apply to have partnerships from with we could have training, new markets, asstes for communication, or anything else that could value our activity.

We would like to partner to NGOs, those going to unsafe areas af the world. We would like them to use Save in risky areas, and to help us communicating with people living there, so they could have more tools to know about where are their relatives, and if they are facing issues. For those people in risky areas, we would particularly like to partner with NGO's to offer all the features at low costs or for free. We offer our app to expect their financial support. We would also like to partner with any company or startup that may have something valuable for our activity. As we are working tools around IA, IoT, data learning, we will need for our researches and tests partnerships with financial institutions and tech companies. Financial institutions will be business partners, and with tech companies, we will be paying for their services in a way or another.
We will use the prize to detect areas where people trigger many alerts, to mark them as risky areas. We will also add descriptions to alerts so that in case of natural disaster, all users in the city will be notified, and anyone having a relative in that area will be asked to check if he is fine. We will add watches for children and elderly, so that we could know every time they have a health issue like stroke, asthma, and others. We will train our AI to recognize those cases, and trigger alerts to their relatives and friends. Also, in areas with low internet connection, we will train an IA that will keep calculating the most precised location of the user even without internet connection, depending on directions, speed, places he uses to go, and that last position will be sent if he triggers an alert.
Everyone heared about security issues around personal data. A geolocation app, with real time location, data about places people live, work, should have the best security available. With this prize, we could improve the way we save data, encrypt them, and use keys so that they are only shared between users. Personal data such age birthday, gender, name, will not be shared, and will be saved on a secured server. We will collect data about the types of alerts, by asking users to give more data about the issue they are facing. We could also work with public services, by providing them an administration view to know in real time who has an issue and where.
This prize will let us improve the specification sending alerts to users around when someone faces a periluos situation. Safety is an important challenge all around the world, and we are communities, organizations, a new way to be ensured that people are safe, without spying them. We will improve it so that only the necessary data is shared and for a short period of time, we will improve how it works so that users cares about who has an issue around them. We will work on the specification around missing people, and notify every user in the area so he coulp help us with pictures to help us finding the missing person.
Save will make communities safer, with particular alerts specifications in case of guns use nearby. Those data could be matched with those registering risky areas, and specifically who are the guns users, where they live and what are the activities around. That is the reason why whe added media sharing on Save, to be going through them to find more solutions for issues such as gun violence. Save does not share datas for commercial use. We are building encryptions for every user's data, with specific keys that are renewed after a period of time.
