80WASH-Waterless Washing Machine
Our product 80 wash is the washing machine for hotels, hospitals, Hostel linens without the requirement of water and chemicals and we clean clothes in 80 seconds.
It is estimated that the 17 percent of total water usage is attributed to the laundry processes. While the water consumption is the problem it consumes significant amount of energy in laundry processes. Hence, the populated countries like India fails to follow the hygiene practices in important places like Hospitals.
If you are bachelor and staying away from home, you feel lazy or face lack of time to wash your undergarments. While the other clothes are sent to the laundries, the undergarments need to be washed by themselves. Apart from the excessive water requirement, sanitation needs time (productive time of users), cost (electricity and detergent) and ample space for drying. Worldwide, all laundry processes span over a day, consume some trillion gallons of water, and the aggregate annual costs run into millions of dollars.
The waterless machines like 80-WASH reliably offers the much-needed cost-effective solution for linen hygiene in hotels, salons, hostels, and hospitals. It is the world's first waterless washing machine to wash clothes in just 80 seconds.
80 WASH is based on the patented ISP (immediate supersaturated phase of water) technology, 80-WASH offers an 80 second treatment to clean stains off the towels and linens, disinfect them from germs/bacteria, remove bad. 80 WASH uses non-UV radiations to power up steam to super saturated phase, that completely knocks out stains in 80 seconds. The inherited nature of the radiations to kill the germs result in zeroed infections. Also, the waterless washing results in the depletion of the smells in the clothes. The half glass of water (100 ml) is required to wash 7 kg of clothes in 80 seconds.
80-wash offers the dried clothes in single/multiple cycles of 80 seconds without the need of bulk of water and detergents.
As per the survey of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare India, the average water require for washing linens of the each bed in a hospital is 550 Liters. In India, the hospitals offers services of 14.50 Lakhs bed to the public. Hence, it requires 79 Crore 75 Lakhs of Liters of Water (2107 millions of gallons of water) each day in washing the bed linens of hospitals. Hence, the first phase of the implementation target the bed linens of hospitals. The 55 percent of beds in rural/sub-urban areas lack the in-house laundry facilities hence, the hospital acquired infections are quite common in these facilities. Hence, the first phase targets the hospitals where the laundry facilities are not available in-house. It is estimated that the 80-wash will save around 5 Crore liters of water (13 million gallons of water) each day.
The second segment targeted in first phase is the young boys and girls (specifically the population of unmarried bachelors staying away from home) who doesn’t practice the hygiene practice. They do not wash their undergarments regularly. It is estimated that the population of 5.2 Crores of unmarried youngsters are residing away from home. Hence, the population is target through the services of 80-wash on per usage basis.
The product 80-Wash is a B2B product. Business owners of hostels, branded salons, garment shops, hospitals and hotels are the paying customer who wish to build trust in their customers about the hygiene measures at their places.
I was a B.Tech computer-science student. I developed interest in Engineering processes in biology in 2nd year of my studies. I have experience of devices to eradicate hospital acquired infection with my product E-Pinjra for hygienic control of rodents. This is my 2nd product ready to roll-out in the market. I am mentored by Dr. Nitin K Saluja, who has experience in establishing 3 deep-tech start-ups in the last 11 years. He holds a Ph.D. in high frequency engineering. I have commercialized the product along with Varinder Singh who holds a Masters of Engineering degree and have established a startup in the health sector. We have a manufacturing partner NuTech Dairy Engineers Private Limited, who has partnered us on the commitment of futuristic orders.
i. We have prototypes already piloted in hospitals , Hostel Laundry of Chitkara University and 4 star and 5 star salons.
ii. Further, the scientific validation is performed with the Microbiology Departments of Government Organizations.
iii. The process is demonstrated to the Himachal Pradesh Government(India) and it is found to be highly effective for the Government and hence the Government of Himachal Pradesh has granted sustainable allowance for the company.
iv. The feedback from renowned scientists and businessman has encouraged the catalysed deployment of the machines.
- Other: Addressing an unmet social, environmental, or economic need not covered in the four dimensions above.
- Pilot: An organization deploying a tested product, service, or business model in at least one community
When we piloted in hospitals, it readies the linens in 80 seconds in ICUs and the bacteria were killed by 99.98 percent. It saved 10 gallons of water in a day for one small hospital (Neelam Hospital, Punjab (India) along with the cost savings worth INR 2,200/day. Further, it has 10 times lesser consumables cost than the normal laundry. Hence, it is the win-win situation for the businesses, environment and the customer.
Annually, an 80-WASH would save 2,500 gallons of water, 2,300 kWh units of electricity and enhance the fabric life by eight times.
Textile with the water usage of billion gallons a month is the highest consumer of water. A commercial laundry consumes 34.74 thousand gallons of water and 910 kWh electricity a year (as per research by National Park Services). While 80 wash consumes only 0.1% of the water than the normal industry hence it saves precious water resource. Further it is cost effective as the electricity consumption reduces by half. Since, the textile durability increases with the 80 wash it results in further reduction in CO2 emission which otherwise is caused by textile industry.

80wash LLP has strategies to operate in B2B segment by offering the assessment/installations services. The revenues will be generated as capital cost (80wash machines) and annual maintenance cost (AMC). The Economic Value Proposition to the hospital is in terms of saved operational expenditure by 7 times. Hence, the return on investment (RoI) for the installation in 10 months. Apart from the initial manufacturing cost and cost of customer acquisition all the other costs can be covered by the profits generated from the sales in first 2 years. The company expects to generate positive cumulative profit in 4th year.
The total investment to scale the business fast is INR 2 Crores for the phase of next one year. The major cost involved is for cost of customer acquisition (CoCA) and Manufacturing of the 80 wash units.
