Malatronika
It is a solution on the revalorization and treatment of electronic waste and household appliances in Madagascar.
In 2019, the UN recorded 56 million tons of WEEE, including 2.9 million in Africa, a 25% increase in just 5 years. Madagascar imports in large quantities all the electronic devices and those which are irreparable go directly to be thrown away and even qualified in electronic waste garbage can because only 17% are recycled normally. However, the majority of Malagasy people are not aware of the effects of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) on the environment and especially on health because of their composition in toxic chemical elements such as lead, ammonia ... However, the collection and recycling of this waste could be a source of income for those concerned in the sense that they can recover valuable materials, including gold, copper and silver.
But what can we do about it? Malatronika has decided to put our stones to the building. It is an innovative solution for the revalorization of WEEE, especially for Madagascar. It is a company specialized in the management of electronic waste and household appliances in a concern of environmental protection in order to recover these last ones to give them in value, to support the actors in the electronic field to be formalized by creating decent jobs,... Its field of activity is distinguished in three parts: the collection and transformation of waste, offering repair services in case they are repairable and an offer of training and promotion of research in this field, as well as the return to the market of the recovered or repaired products.
The solution is based on the three pillars of sustainable development: social insofar as it will improve the health and standard of living of the population, economic because of the creation of decent jobs and the fight against the black market as well as the promotion of the formalization of actors, and environmental by reducing and preventing climate change, pollution and the right to a healthy environment . First, the entire population is targeted as this phenomenon affects the environment of water, soil and air. Secondly, students and actors in the electronic field will be served. Moreover, the solution will call for the intervention of the State since it is a case of necessity. And finally, the future generation as the solution meets a certain concern for a healthy and sustainable environment.
Currently, we are developing our business plan. We carried out a market study among the populations of the 23 regions of Madagascar during a national meeting that we participated in the capital in 2021. Thus, we were able to carry out a survey among the actors in the electronic field of a part of the country. Moreover, we have consulted students in the electronic field of the Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique of Antananarivo during the conception of the solution. Without forgetting that the solution at the stage where it was only an idea has already won a prize having allowed its conception. It should be noted that the team of Malatronika has already done years of volunteer work in associations that act in the protection and preservation of the environment. What helped us a lot in our project is that we are students in master of the University of Madagascar in the field of Internal and International Public Law including the environmental law and Mathematics and structure.
