Malnutrition & Poverty alleviation in rural with Moringa
- Tanzania, like most other tropical countries, is faced with the problems of grassroots malnutrition, preventable malnutrition induced diseases, low per capita income, abject poverty, deforestation, erosion, global warming, desert & sea encroachment; and the most affected are youths;
- AMF is a social enterprise on a mission is to enabling smallholders to tackle malnutrition and water purification, and to overcome poverty by creating sustainable communities with the profits generated by moringa tree plantation
- Not only are the leaves highly nutritious, but every single part of the Moringa tree has been used for beneficial purposes over the centuries in: medicine, alley cropping, erosion control, water purification, livestock fodder, plant growth enhancer and biogas production;
With malnutrition very rife in Tanzania as a result of the intake of nutrient deficient traditional diets by the populace, the Government found the need to campaign for food fortification and usage of food supplements especially with micronutrients like iron, zinc, Vitamin A and iodine. Unfortunately, it has been found that many of these mineral or chemical additives are expensive and also not bio-available thereby denying the body of the full benefits needed. Imported, cheap, synthetic and chemical food supplements which are available are also not very effective against malnutrition and are at times dangerous to human health as depicted in some recent studies. In the same vein, imported natural and organic food supplements available are highly differentiated, expensive and not within the reach of the general populace. The need for a local alternative with desirable qualities is therefore imperative. Fortunately, Moringa will fulfill this.
- NMP shall create millions of new youth and women focused jobs that will eradicate abject poverty & improve grassroots economies;
- It shall improve overall national GDPs & a tremendous boost of grassroots income & governments’ revenue & foreign exchange earnings, especially for hitherto abjectly poor and vulnerable youths and women;
- It shall serve as a highly nutritional food crop & raw material for pharmaceutical, food, feeds & chemical industry;
- Moringa oleifera is a better source of biogas & will thus help humanity to effectively reverse global warming; and
- Protect forests & savanna, as well as, effectively fight deforestation, erosion, desert & sea encroachment; and
- Help countries to conform with UNEP & FAO conventions.

Another problem is to define a very easy simple way and accessible process to purify the water, by using only local material. The promotion of local available natural resources as Moringa seeds plants will allow producing safe drinking water with no pollution and no maintenance, for a better health and life. The third problem is to solve the rampant poverty of those rural communities. The natural Moringa biodiversity with its by-products can provide major benefits to local communities and sustainable revenues for the women. Furthermore, we cannot forget the incredible benefits of the leaves as a concentrate of vitamins to fight malnutrition. It is very important to provide clean safe drinking water for those rural communities, but more at the household levels. Community members will have clean potable water, right outside their homes, instead of walking many hours to collect water or to buy untreated water from local suppliers

- To share the youth and women employment, economic, food security, health, nutritional & environmental benefits of the intensive cultivation of Moringa oleifera in Tanzania and other interested countries with Key global decision makers;
- Our project aims to provide safe drinking water, sanitation and better health to the rural households of the Tanzania communities’ population by using the natural Moringa seeds properties to clean water river turbidity, and, the sun’s energy to sterilize this purified water, including an intensive community hygiene and sanitation education program.
- To create youth/women focused and mutually beneficial synergies amongst interested stakeholders that will promote the intensive cultivation, processing, industrial utilization, marketing, exportation, field & clinical studies of Moringa oleifera in Tanzania and other interested countries; and by so doing, considerably reducing youth/women un-employment, abject poverty and crime; and improving upon overall national GDPs

Currently we are working with local communities groups but under government partnership
AMF production model is a hybrid of small-holding rural farmers – an out-grower community – backed by the strength of a plantation-scale Estate and processing facility. The two modes secure each other: the out-growers guarantee early and continuous seed production, while the Estate guarantees purchasing, processing, quality and through it’s integrated marketing, market-access.
We depend only on local contributors and small amount from Tanzania Forest Funds.
Malnutrition and poverty in rural areas in Tanzania is very big and currently we are fighting with deforestation in Tanzania.So my organization is fighting to get funds to enabling and joining the government to fight this wars.
