nanoparticles empowering women
Breastcancer is one of the most common cancer due to the unaffordable and toxic treatments we modify Silver nanoparticles synthesized from fungi used with cyclodextrin to combat breast cancer.
Breast cancer remains one of the most common types of cancer in the world. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, with approximately 2 million new cases diagnosed each year (2021-2022)
"An estimated 1.7 million women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, a 26% increase from current levels" that was from an article in 2014, in fact now we find 2 million new cases diagnosed each year.
The latest reports indicate that breast cancer is increasing worldwide, especially in low- and middle-income countries. In Colombia the number of patients with breast cancer is increasing, for 2020 the estimate was 15,509 new diagnoses, which for 2040 is estimated at 23,100 new cases.
in Colombia there are significant differences in opportunity, access and quality health services Therefore, the most widely used treatment is chemotherapy, being implemented only in large cities and leaving areas of difficult access behind and unfortunately, few breast cancer institutions cant offer all the proposed services for the treatment of breast cancer. In other cases, health insurers can force their affiliated patients to make these visits in different institutions, causing highly fragmented and inefficient care.
Now for the womens who can get the access to this kind of treatments , the side effects of chemotherapy can be devastating, mostly physically but generating a psychological impact on patients and their families, producing a predisposition to surrender in the battle against cancer.
what is my solution about? how can i help other womens with breast cancer? My solution is Silver nanoparticles synthesized from fungi (Piriformospora indica), but what´s new about it? cyclodextrines,It has been suggested that there could be a risk of toxic accumulation of silver in the tissues of the body, so that it reaches the cancer cells more accurately and does not diffuse into various tissues of the body. I propose the use of cyclodextrins to encapsulate Ag Np making this treatment safer and with fewer side effects, generally reducing systemic toxicity.
but how they work exactly?
chitosan-mediated Ag NPs disrupt normal cell function and also affect its membrane integrity by inducing apoptotic signaling genes of mammalian cells that cause death,
The use of a cyclodextrin coating on silver nanoparticles for the treatment of breast cancer could have several advantages:
1.Better bioavailability: Cyclodextrins have encapsulation properties, which could improve the bioavailability of silver nanoparticles in tumor tissues, which could allow lower doses and reduce toxicity in normal tissues
2.Better cell selection: The cyclodextrin coating could help improve cell selection of silver nanoparticles, which could allow for greater efficacy in treating cancer cells and less toxicity in normal cells
3.Increased stability: The cyclodextrin coating could help stabilize the silver nanoparticles, which could extend their lifespan in the body and improve their effectiveness.
It's hard to synthesize?
Biological synthesis of Ag NP is cost-effective, eco-friendly, less toxic, less tedious, and high-yield.
What effects do they have on an environmental level?
Any new creation involves an environmental risk to avoid it to prevent environmental damage, filters would be implemented in special waste areas for Ag .
in conclution what this project seeks is to help improve the quality of life of women who live their day to day with pain and little hope.
Cancer is a common disease that tends to be looked at with despair, thousands of women are left with broken lives even after defeating it, unpayable debts, loneliness, constant fear, pain in general, and in a society where everyone moves on with their lives so fast. And the therapy is so expensive, many of these women have to face the addition of new traumas in their lives for fear of not reintegrating into society fast enough, each person has independent recovery times, both physical and mental.
I really believe that talking about recovery on a psychological level is a complicated issue and I am not looking for any woman to feel the pressure to move on if she is not ready to do so, so reduce side effects with other treatments such as silver nanoparticles encapsulated in cyclodextrins. It was the solution that I took, reducing the side effects would reduce the traumatic events, preventing many healthy tissues from being eliminated in the process of eliminating the cancer cells.
Last year I developed a review article on cyclodextrins, it was a difficult process because it was a lot of information but I learned a lot about the ways in which they were used.
This year I hope to develop my docking skills to predict unions between the types of cyclodextrins and silver nanoparticles to predict which one would be better adapted without doing previous studies in a laboratory and thus optimize resources.
I do not have a specific team and that is one of the reasons why I present this idea here, for people who feel a passion for science and an affinity for my research topic to join and contribute to this initiative that is just beginning but that It projects to be innovative and is intended to be a call for empathy to care about this always vulnerable sector.
i decided to choose this topic because a my mom friend's died for breast cancer two years ago and i feel it didn't have a big impact on me at that time and i just move on with my life so easily, so i decided to read a book a bout it to have another perspective and in just understand that the time for womens with this disease is so different, i decided to listen more experienceses and i felt so uncomfortable dealing with such a common topic as something so far for reality,it is a disease that can happen to anyone without further explanation.
So I decided to become aware and take action and start researching on my own, recent articles, statistics from past years, consulted on the subject of encapsulations with my teachers and saw if it could be feasible to do it in my city, and in theory yes, I could be done but it is somewhat complicated if you do not find research groups willing to start with a topic that is considered difficult to start.
This year I will do my clinical practices in a hospital, I hope to interact more with women who are going through this battle and if possible find someone who is as interested in the subject as I am and is willing to start laboratory tests to make this idea a reality. reality.
- Improving healthcare access and health outcomes; and reducing and ultimately eliminating health disparities (Health)
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea.
The way in which integrating a compound can change the course of an entire investigation is the innovative factor,I hope that the market changes and that it has a positive impact, my main purpose is to make noise, to attract attention, I want to give a voice through myself to prevent a disease as dangerous as breast cancer from normalizing just because it happens in a large population of women, I want science to try to improve the living conditions of women who suffer from this disease every day, I hope this platform helps me to generate an impact and call more people interested in the subject and to join to this idea to make it a reality, to stop being spectators.
For the next year I hope to have a team with which we register which is the most suitable cyclodextrin to use with Ag Np.
I hope to create awareness in my university and in fairs for women entrepreneurs that are held in my city.
I hope to do this by disseminating information, going to people who know a lot about the subject to make this a line of research in the universities of my city.
The technologies that I will be implementing are IA to summarize the searches for scientific articles, biotechnology for the implementation of cyclodextrins and molecular docking.

I don't have an estimate of people that I can serve in a year, I think it all depends on the development of the project, what I do know is that the researchers who join the project will change their lives completely
My main barriers are the lack of a full-time team and financial
The service that we would provide would be a therapy based on Ag nanoparticles encapsulated in cyclodextrins for women with cancer, they would be provided in city hospitals and there would be a dissemination of information on the new therapy for places with difficult access, to finance the first therapies, the products sold at city fairs could be taken to internet platforms and charge a platform management fee for each purchase, which would be used to finance the first therapies, or the therapies of women in areas of difficult access and few resources of the country.
