RID for health
The collection, research and dissemination of the correct use of MTC as a complement to traditional medicine and the lack of access to it; with the use of social networks.
In Mexico, around 28.2% of people do not have a health system affiliation, this percentage represents around 33 million people who are vulnerable to a medical emergency. In addition to this, the deficiency in the country's health system means that a large part of the population does not have the necessary resources to meet their healthcare needs.
T&CM is an underestimated but viable solution to the problems of healthcare accessibility and affordability. This is because it is found in the vast majority of countries around the world, due to its ease of access, affordability for many people, and cultural acceptance. Add to this the easy accessibility of social media and you have a very viable way for people to get their healthcare needs met easily, cheaply, and safely.
We have created a 3-step project that, in cooperation with the OMS vision and strategies on T&CM, can achieve the implementation of T&CM practices in conventional medical systems, as well as access to these practices for medically underserved groups.
These 3 steps are to collect. Research and disseminate, where each
Collection, research, and dissemination of traditional and complementary medicine practices as an alternative and cooperation with the conventional medical system, as well as a possible solution to the lack of medical care for vulnerable groups.
Compilation
Conduct campaigns for people with knowledge of traditional medicine practices to contribute their information, these data collection uses digital platforms such as email, google forms, and posts to social networks (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
Research
Analyse, compare and filter the practices previously collected, as well as find out the active ingredients used to carry them out, for possible alternative use.
Dissemination
Disseminate the information obtained while creating laws and regulatory bodies so that people can access this type of treatment safely and effectively. This will be done through social media and the creation of a website that serves as a digital encyclopedia and communication network for people.
That also can be a possible solution to the problem of drug abuse and overuse, especially antibiotics, as the use of TCM would reduce the use of conventional medicines.
Although it is aimed at people with low access to health care, this solution is suitable for anyone.
We seek that the people who benefited from this solution have an alternative to their health problems, this would improve their quality of life by being able to prevent and treat major diseases, and at the same time, they can save to be able to face major health problems.
We have been researching official sources, as well as engaging in conversations and conducting surveys both with villages that would benefit from this solution and with specialists in the subject, as well as with the support of these same specialists. We also have experience in volunteering and organizing events.
Within our team there are a variety of people with different experiences and skills that help in the different stages of the project, these skills range from programming, network management, and marketing to the creation and organization of events. Thanks to the diversity of experiences we have been able to come up with a concrete and positive idea for the project, with which we can move forward and create a beta.
We have considered all the options and suggestions that have arisen during the process, and these have been discussed and evaluated along with the rest of the information and the opinions and direction that we want to give to the project.
Within our school, we surveyed the possible use of our solution, and the results have been mostly positive your feedback helped us to improve our original plan.
- Improving financial and economic opportunities for all (Economic Prosperity)
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea.
We bring a new face and approach to existing knowledge, we want to eliminate the stigmas that surround traditional medicine, as well as bring it closer to new people so that they can take full advantage of it.
As it is still a concept we plan to start with the project this year, we hope to start with the data collection and the social media campaign in March and the middle of the year to start with the creation of the website, and to have a beta of it by the end of the year.
The technology of our solution is based on the knowledge of traditional medicine, which has existed and developed for centuries, as well as the use of social networks as a means of communication and dissemination.

- Internet of Things
- Software and Mobile Applications
- Mexico
We think that with the beta of the website and the reach of social networks, we are reaching and helping around 3000 people, and we contemplate that for the following year this number will double.
Our biggest barrier at the moment is time, as we are still students we don't have enough time for the project to progress as we would like it to. In addition to this being a project from scratch our presence and reach on social networks is low, and although this will increase over time this will limit the project for a while and delay the number of people who benefited during the beginning of our solution.
