African communities are experiencing rising congestion of economic functionality that is motivated by the transport system. Survival is slim without an effective goods movement system. The necessity that most communities are striving for is accumulation and environmental impact from trucks which account for over 40% of total CO2 emission as a result of trucks that are driven empty.
Our solution uses the components of Machine Learning and behavioral intervention design over a carrier network to eliminate the inefficiency in truck utilization and identify the best opportunity to move freight. Furthermore, it allows communities to interact with the built environment. This is to provide a healthier, faster and smoother experience.
For every significant enhancement in truck utilization, we can cross out over 40% emission of CO2 -thereby saving over the 500thousand gallon of fuel from been burn-out, 5million miles from been driven and 50thousand hours from been wasted every day.
The global transport sector accounts for 25% of CO2 emission from fuel combustion. Unless we change course, this is expected to double by 2050. Every year, transport emission linked to $1 trillion in health damage and nearly 400,000 death.
In African today, 72 % of goods are transported by trucks and 40% of the time the truckers are running empty. This means you have a lot of trucks going one-way delivering freight and coming back empty, which in turn, produces CO2 emission. On the other hand, the trucking industry has been marred with irregularities, inefficiency, and abuse associated with truckers lifestyle because it appears they are not making enough money, This poses security threat and theft on the items been hauled and causes a huge loss on the freight owners. The owner of the freight is paying more money to move the freight and at the end of the day, the consumers have to pay the bills.
This traditional trucking industry has existed for ages, and today TruckMoov has the technology, we sought to bring this technology down to the traditional way of finding a truck and solve a problem that has existed.
Since the collapse of the rail system in Nigeria, more emphasis has been given to road transportation. The road freight market in Nigeria is huge serving a population of over 180 million people directly or indirectly with the growth rate of over 7.3 % per annum and an average growth rate of 3.5% in the past 5 years. I had over 2 –years’ moving freight. A few times, I have joined the Trucks in hauling items to its destination in a bid to secure the freight. It was in this vain I knew the pains of truck drivers. African has a lot of infrastructural deficit. With this, I understood the complexity of the transport market. I used to stop by at truck stops because they are usually exciting and safe places. So, I began to discover their needs. What the truckers say is that; they bitterly complained about the insecurity and theft on freight and also the inadequacy in the sector, they complained that whenever they are unloaded, they have to look for freight owners so they would not run empty. This experience is instrumental to the birth of TruckMoov
The problem of the African trucking industry is quite huge, and available technology can only cater to less than 10%.
Truckmoov intervention offers services tailored to the locations and behavioral lifestyle of the African trucking experience to automatically adjust to give the best service to both the truckers and Freight owners. As at the time of filing this response, we have completed our market research and currently completing the development and integration of our Technology platform. We have reached out to over 100 truckers and 7 freight owners
In the next Year, we will be focusing on conquering the Nigerian Market and hoping to sign-up 3000 connected truckers and should have completed 8000 haulings. We will focus more on truckers that haul on farm produce such as; Food, groceries, wood, Fertilizers, cotton, etc. We will thereafter expand to other industries that haul on heavy containers, oil/gas, electronics, cement, iron, construction, paper, etc.
We will maintain a consistent innovation pool such that by 2022, we will launch a payment system that will allow our truckers to receive their freight cost in the stipulated time. We will also be looking to launch a financing line for our truckers with more interest in the Agribusiness industry.
In five years, we are hoping to sign-up 250,000 truckers across 8-African counties with over 500 contributors.

TruckMoov business model leverages the trucking capacity lying idle to provide trucking services to organization or individual who has no fleet and are looking to move freight. Small businesses don’t have to buy their own delivery vehicles and independent truckers will never run out of shipments to move around the city again.

The primary cost for our beta is the development work. The road freight industry has existed for centuries. In African, it is an extremely huge market, where over 80% of the economy move by trucks. The big issue is that both the truckers and Freight owners are heavily fragmented. Freight owners are connected to truckers through brokers and these brokers uses the traditional model of phones or messages.
TruckMoov will work in using the Innospark Ventures Prize to help pioneer a new way of combining this traditional model with technology and in particular data science in other to make this whole process seamless for everyone. Essentially, we match the right carrier with the right load and automate the whole process and at the same time change the entire cost structure of the African trucking Industry.
Data science is pivotal to what we are building. That’s why we are lunching with all process automated. With this we have combine some economic model peculiar to the African trucking experience to solve some daunting problem.
