Relevo
In Venezuela minimum wage is 5$ monthly and inflation is 6 digit number. 60% of students drop out of schools because for many education is a luxury they cannot afford. In Relevo, we empower impoverished teenagers to pursue professional careers and solve their grandest challenges. Through surveys, data analysis we can detect needs and resources measure different problems. As well as mapping the needs of companies and train the youth to solve them. By learning by doing. Companies will post work opportunities as open challenges so job seekers can explore and develop different skills. Because being part of and adapting to the global economy should not depend on geography, race, or economic status.
87% of Venezuelans live in poverty, 75% of the companies left the country and the remaining offer a minimum monthly salary of 5$. 44% of Venezuelans are unemployed, in a place where 60% drop out of schools and where 30% of the school teachers and 40% of university professors abandoned the classrooms. Venezuelans are missing global job opportunities because of orientation, not knowing their existence and lack of training. Meanwhile by 2025 remote jobs will equal or surpass the local jobs. This translates in the opportunity of creating wealth despite the local economy.
In Relevo we have 7 years helping teenagers from a rural population to prepare for university exams. They come from just miles away Caracas, but their living conditions are precarious. They do not have proper services such as water, transportation or security. Many of their houses don't have floors but they do own Facebook accounts. We started with a small group of 10, with no professional examples at home, or knowledge of different career opportunities, teaching advanced math and problem solving and discovered that some of them did not know basic Math or Spanish. We continued with 50 students per week per year, taking into account younger teenagers so abilities were learnt earlier on.
We are glad to say that nos our students, as opposed to the early stage, have a reference of professionals in their families: their brothers and sisters. We have given scholarship to our alumni, activating the pay it forward where they become teachers in exchange of scholarships. We want to replicate this experience and help the Venezuelan youth and 44% of the labor force of Venezuela.
We want to take the Relevo experience online, by gamifying different remote careers. Decomposing projects in specific and trainable tasks assigned to learners. Where students get to explore and solve open and own challenges while learning different skills and identifying their interests. Guided by coaches who at the same time have the possibility of earning and continuing learning from mentors while teaching others. Companies will post projects and job opportunities as challenges and the specific skills and values required to fill their positions. Players will have the possibility to find and train for these jobs. And enterprises will benefit by hiring potential candidates that match their expectations, in a shorter recruiting, hiring and training time, with a larger retention rate.
In Relevo we help students and unemployed form themselves to find professional opportunities. We help them find their interests, have access to education, and connect to professional opportunities. We pose relevant information to universities and learning centers so they can adapt to the evolving skills demanded by the market. As well as incentive different employees to develop certain skills if their is no job opportunities for their background, helping them adapt to technology.
For entreprises, we reduce the time spent recruiting, hiring and training by matching with employees who have the cultural fit of the enterprise, and building diverse teams.

Our solution brings connectivity between job seekers, that may not have defined skills or known interests and the network to find the recruiters.
Enterprises will pay for a curated match with job seekers where solution problem and critical thinking are evaluated and match the expectations of the enterprises. Including the way people answer with the culture of the company. Where contractors will pay for every hired student and will create content at the same time. Reducing the time recruiting, hiring and training as well as augmenting retention rate.
For my country this will signify that many can view as a possibility staying in the country, and still work in the global economy, because they have competitive salaries. By 2025 remote jobs will surpass if not equal local jobs, so we can avoid diaspora by giving anyone despite his location, ethnicity, formation to find jobs they like and develop skills to achieve it in the global economy.
For enterprises this means diversifying their team, contact with talented and link minded people across the world. That maybe, their CV sometimes cannot capture the level of creativity, critical thinking and values that can be perceived by giving a solution generation.
The technology we use is simpler compared to the challenges it solves.
Social network and AI, by creating an algorithm that depending on likes and proficiency level can offer different professional challenges to different people. The business model will be enterprises paying for matches with job seekers, that translates in training a pool of people that may or may not have the means as in money, contacts, to this information.

Actually we have had offline results. We gave Abraham Castillo a 17 year old boy from an impoverished family a web developing course, we connected him with 2 different job opportunities and now he is earning more than his parents together. As 10 of our alumni, he is now working with us, as our web developer.
We believe or solution can help people to identify which career path to take and which skills they need to achieve it as well of facilitating the content and skill development needed. From the enterprise part part we have professional validation that they hire with fit in enterprises values.

We are serving hundreds of Venezuelan , and we want to scale in the next year to millions of job seekers (in Venezuela 44% of the population is unemployed). As well to explore other markets such as unemployed refugees all parts of the world.
From the enterprise part we have identified 20 potential clients to start our pilot. And hope to expand to hundreds of companies.
Our goal is to help Venezuelans look as a possibility staying and growing the local economy. Since the people that our more formed are the ones leaving the country (1 out of 6 Venezuelans left the country). It will bring Venezuelans prosperity and economic growth and will give a possibility to everyone to get better paid jobs, specially the 87% of Venezuelans living in poverty.
In Relevo we are seeking for partnerships to develop the app, look for potential enterprises that want to hire Venezuelans abroad. From the Venezuelan part, we perceive some of our barriers are local internet connections, uncertain policies and basic services unattended, but believe by giving a greater power of acquisition and given the ability of Venezuelans to adapt to challenges this might not be an issue, or can be solved by the different seekers.

Our core team is formed by 2 directors working part-time for the moment, 2 advisers, 1 web developer, 1 psychologist, 1 designer and 1 sales person as well as the non profit with a team of 14.
The best quality of our team is the diversity, equal vision and interest in community. Our team has Procter and Gamble research, product and development manager; leaders of the community, Mathematician, computer scientist, data analyst, SAP experts. People with over 5 years of experience in their specific fields, working at different type of projects and markets: from retail to AI, from US and Europe to LatinAmerica and Asia.
Universidad Metropolitana, Prosuperacion with these two organizations we are creating courses to educate Venezuelans intellectually and emotionally. Venezuelan schools such as Santa Micaela, Campo Rico, Mano Amiga, Maria Auxiliadora were we are working with teenagers through Relevo.

We plan to fund the development of the platform through donations, actually we were granted a white-label application page donation as well as with our programers. At first we will recieve job offers of different enterprises and for every match made we will charge 500$ the funds will be kept in a pool were credits for students education where they can pay whith a percentage of their salary once they find a job
We believe in the synergy of networks. We would love to have mentors, who can help us with our endeavors, connection with the international market and demands, as well as courses that level up Venezuelans.

We will form train students so they can have notions and apply their knowledge in STEM in different jobs. As well as developing our platform.
We are now in contact with an all girl school called Santa Micaela where vulnerable girls are given shelter, fed and educated.
