Passion Dhundoo
Helping students figure out what their passion is through 20 hour workshop.
Primary problem - Everywhere it is said ‘do what you love’ or ‘do what you are passionate about’ but no one tells how to search for passion. Most children have to choose a major at the age of 17-18 year in India which (in most cases) turns out to be their future but by that time they do not have enough experience to figure out what their passion is and they get stuck in a career which they hate. And then work which is going to take more than half of their life’s time becomes a burden for them. The whole problem boils down to one question “HOW TO SEARCH FOR PASSION”. If this question is answered at an early age for children, it would save their lives from becoming monotonous.
Secondary problem - A generation above us had a challenge of creating enough work opportunities but the challenge for our generation is to create purpose in life of people.
Passion Dhundo works on the 20 hour principle which states that you can reach intermediate level of any skill by practising it for 20 hours. It conducts different workshops for different skills for 20 hours for younger students. By hit and trial method (by attending different workshops), students can try to know what their passion is. Even if they do not get to know what they want to do in their life, at least they’ll get to know what they DO NOT want to do in their life (as knowing both are equally important).
The teachers will be those people who have lost purpose in life and find their life monotonous. They’ll take these 20 hour workshops and through these workshops they’ll not only be able to create purpose in their own life but also (might) change the student’s life.
Passion Dhundo is serving students who are in search for their passion. It will help them make better career choices as they will be able to understand what they like and what they don't like. Even if they are not able to find their passion after attending these workshops at least they'll be able to know what they don't want to do in their life. (As much as it is important to know what to do in life, it is equally important to know what to not to do in life). Thereby, helping them to not end up in a job they hate.
It is also serving those who are not able to find purpose in their job. And since, job takes up majority of time of one's life, there is a very good chance that they are not able to find purpose in their life also. So, it is giving them a chance to serve students and make not only their own lives meaningful but also improving the learner's life. It will make them feel happier about themselves and will have satisfaction before their death that they lived a meaningful life.
I am born and brought up in city of education of India – Kota, Rajasthan. Thousands of students aged 17-18 come here each year. There are a lot of educational institutions present here. I can easily reach out to these institutes and then conduct workshops there. This will help students to find what their passion is. This is the place where most students are found in India. As a resident of the city, it is easier for me to reach out to them.
I have conducted 2-3 workshops on different skills both in online and offline mode for students of different coaching institutes on programming and Japanese (Only 2 skills till now because it’s single person team till now, Once the team is built, we will add more skills) in order to find out loopholes in the model. I have also gone to many coaching institutes and talked to students in ordered to figure out whether they will be interested in something like Passion Dhundo or not. And the response I got was pretty amazing. Children do want something like this. They have this confusion which field to choose and which one to leave.
- Improving learning opportunities and outcomes for learners across their lifetimes, from early childhood on (Learning)
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea.
Passion dhundo's workshop are teach core skills to students rather than giving them an overview. So that, they can figure out which skill they are passionate about.
Application of 20 hour principle is another innovative approach to the problem.
My impact goal is to teach students “how to learn” and to help them figure out what they like doing and what careers they are not made for. It will be achieved by introducing different teaching methods and also by giving them different exercises to solve. This will change their entire life because then they will get the correct approach to how to learn different skills and also which skill they want to continue their career in. Even if they do not figure out which skill they want to continue their career in, they'll at least figure which skill they do not want to continue their career in.
All the students who attend workshop fill a Google form through which data is collected. Workshops are held online so use of online meeting apps is there. In this way, technology powers passion dhundo.

Passion Dhundo plans to serve around 500 people this year. It will be achieved through social media marketing and more partnerships with schools and coaching institutes.
Marketing barriers - Reaching out to people is a challenge for me currently
technical Barriers - I don't have necessary technical skills (looking forward to learn them). But as I am a single person team it might get very hectic for me to manage both sides.
Passion Dhundo has currently conducted it's first 7 day/20 hour workshop on computer programming in a popular coaching institute (Physicswallah Vidyapeeth) in Kota, Rajasthan, India. In this workshop, we have helped students to explore the domain of computer programming. We are looking forward to conduct more workshops like this for different skills in different coaching institutes like unacademy and different schools.
Students pay fees to Passion Dhundo.
Passion Dhundo gives some amount to teachers and other to cover cost.
The rest of the amount is profit of passion dhundo.
First 2-3 workshops will be free and then revenue can be generated by taking fees from students.
Out of the total fees generated, 5% will go to the workbook printing cost and around 10%-15% will go to the teacher. Rest 80% is the profit made out of the system.
