Scan E
Improving access of Pregnant mothers in Rural areas of Uganda to affordable obstetric ultrasound scan services
limited access to obstetric ultrasound services for pregnant mothers in rural areas.
Expensive services in urban centres.
Over 85% of pregnant mothers in rural areas of uganda never do an obstetric ultrasound scan and yet its recommended that every pregnant mother must do atleast one scan before gestation age of 24 weeks.
This is attributed to the Expensive and limited access of Pregnant mothers to such services in a third world country like Uganda and its neighbours.
The Solution is Scan E,
Scan E uses portable obstetric ultrasound machines to reach out to pregnant mothers in rural areas.
A pregnant mother registers with the nearest public health facility and our service provider comes to offer the service at that very place
pregnant mothers in rural areas of Uganda and later the whole of the East African community.
Less than 15% who can afford transport and expensive services in urban areas are the only ones who have been accessing these services.
It's tike to change the narrative just by pregnant mothers registering from the nearest health facility, we come and offer the service using out portable ultrasound machine.
Our team is well positioned to revolutionaries this.
We are a team of four Final year students of Bachelor of Science in medical Radiography at Makerere University completing studies in June 2023 and Graduating in January 2024.
We are well equipped with ultrasound skills.
As a team leader, I have been able to complete two Entrepreneurship studies under Starthub Africa and Social Shifters.
So we are ready for the move
Did market research and people showed the need for the services.
Personally, I hired an ultrasound machine in September 2022 and took it to sironko District in Rural parts of Eastern Uganda and in a period of one month, I was able to work on over 200 pregnant mothers at affordable prices
