POLE_POSITION is the idea to enrich charging infrastructure with even more information to deliver more precise details and data about it.

Focussing on the retrofitting of lamp posts in the streets to smart poles with charging infrastructure, we supply the missing part to make this infrastructure really smart. Charging infrastructure becomes essential part of smart cities with us.
First step is to make EV users happier and the amount of them is growing fast. Many charging points are blocked by non-charging cars. Apps for those stations still show them as free, because they just rely on the charging status.
We bring the solution for every single station to detect if it is really free to use or not! But more sensor can also bring more opportunities ...
With adding the perfect fit of sensors and software to poles in a holistic solution, not only municipalities but also private and commercial fleets can benefit from exact data and insights.
Charge points operators will have happy customers and thereby better revenue. POLE_POSITION adequate utilization of EV chargers for a successful mobility revolution against the climate crisis.
The solution offered by POLE_POSITION is to retrofit lamp posts in the streets to smart poles with charging infrastructure that includes IoT sensors that provide live-traffic and environmental data. The goal is to make EV users happier by detecting if a charging station is really free to use or not and to provide data and insights to municipalities, private and commercial fleets. It aims to achieve a successful mobility revolution against the climate crisis by adequate utilization of EV chargers.
Your solution serves EV users by detecting if a charging station is really free to use or not and making them happier. Additionally, it serves municipalities, private and commercial fleets by providing data and insights that can help optimize their mobility operations. Charge points operators will also benefit by having happy customers and better revenue.
Many years of relevant expertise in EV charging and knowledge of customer needs and the technologies for our product enable POLE_POSITION to successfully deliver this solution.
We are working hard on first partnerships with charge-point operators in Berlin to run live-tests and discuss possibilities for roll-out scenarios.
Experiencing the need on our own is the key factor that drives us as EV drivers.
Also the exchange on EV summits with those drivers confirmed us the real need for such a solution.
In addition, media and press always spread the „fear of range“ when driving electric. Our solution takes this fear!

There is no product or solution to solve the problem of blocked charging points yet. Even though there are initiatives like &Charge to report these problems manually. We are doing this automatically and inbound with the existing infrastructure.
After a few tests in the field we want to validate our solution and software with about 15 POLE_POSITION implementations in Berlin.
- Then increasing the number of EV users who utilize the smart poles and charging infrastructure by advertising the new solution.
- Reducing the number of blocked charging stations by measuring and evaluating the blocking time average use of charging points.
- Improving the customer satisfaction among EV users with the smart poles and charging infrastructure and engage for feedback (QR-Codes) at charging stations or questionnaires in the CPOs apps.
- Providing municipalities, private, and commercial fleets with data and insights to optimize their mobility operations.
- Improving the revenue of charging points operators by having happy customers to enable us installing more of our products.
With our product as IoT solution we collect data which is most important.
The link to charging stations and their data will be essential so that our cloud can understand and translate both, MQTT and OCPP messages.
The real benefit will be generated by machine learning that understands EV charging behavior and how it’s influenced by outer circumstances.
An API then allows the respective Charge Point Operators to subscribe our data and implement it to their apps that show better and more reliable information about charging stations to their customers.

We plan that our solution is adopted by 1 Charge Point operator at 15 sites.
On all sites in sum we assume that around 1.000 people will interact with our solution in the next year. (EV drivers often go to the same charging station, e.g. nearby their workplace so that the rotation is not that high)
- Optimizing the hardware product to the most-efficient embedded system that allows multiple sensors.
- Contact with CPOs to deal with the data in accordance to highest data privacy (cybersecurity).
There are no partnerships with POLE_POSITION yet.
The business model is a combination of product sales and subscription-based revenue. The product being sold is a box that retrofits lamp posts in the streets to smart poles with charging infrastructure and IoT sensors that provide live-traffic and environmental data. The customer, in this case, would be the Charging Point Operator (CPO).
- The customer (CPO) would purchase the product for a one-time cost of 400 Euro per box.
- After the purchase, the CPO would be able to access the data provided by the IoT sensors via an API (Application Programming Interface) for a monthly subscription fee of 7 Euro.
- To incentivize customer to try the product, the first 4 months of the subscription would be offered for free.
- After the first 4 months, the CPO would be charged 7 Euro per month for continued access to the data.
- The revenue stream will come from the product sales and from the subscription-based API access.
When the CPO realizes the positive impact for utilization of charging points by our product we will roll-out more boxes. With the subscription of 7 Euros per charging point, a financial benefit for the CPO can be seen as people will charge for more that 7 Euros more per month.
And when we reach around 500 charging points in the first two years, we make:
- 500*400€ = 200.000€ one-time
- 500*7€ = 3.500€ monthly (*24 = 84.000€)
Of course not all 500 subscriptions will run from the very beginning but they will also run after that.
In Germany alone there are 72.000 charging points right now so that there is a huge market potential.
