It is an initiative which can be used to change the way people respond to crime and insecurity.

The problem I'm trying to solve is the problem of insecurity. Insecurity is a major challenge which the people of Nigeria are facing. From kidnappings in the east to the activities of the notorious Boko Haram group and the overwhelming number of online scam artists to the small scale thefts and other threats, one can tell that it is a very devastating issue causing havoc for the people.

In Nigeria, more than 200 banditries occured in the first half of the year 2022. Nigeria has also been rated the 3rd worst country with insecurity in the world. The problem of insecurities keeps getting worse and worse as more and more people die everyday due to cult activities, terrorism and other crimes.

The reasons for this insecurity are numerous and they include poverty, unemployment, bad governance amongst others. 

The price Nigerians have had to pay for the ever increasing issue can not be overemphasized. The general Nigerian public can no longer travel freely from one state to another. In some areas, people can barely leave their houses at any time and movement is strictly regulated in order to preserve their lives.

This has cause wide spread fear through out the country.

Of course the activities of Scam artists can not be forgotten. Ritualists and cultism just add fuel to the already raging fire.

Obviously, every country has crime and criminals will always be there no matter how secure a place may be, but the way people respond to these criminal activities can be changed in order to reduce the effects of these criminal activities.

My solution is an application which enables the user to quickly send emergency messages to people who can help them in case they are in tight situations. This app can also alert the user when their burglary alarm goes off or their fire alarm goes off. The app also helps to automatically record conversations unnoticed during emergencies. Each person can easily trip off an emergency signal such as pressing the volume button for more than 5 seconds and the app will automatically send messages to people who can get you out of danger.

 It will also allow automatically start recording the audio of the incident and send it to those numbers every 5 minutes until you turn it off.

The application also includes self defense classes and advice for the users in case of emergencies. 

With the help of this app, parents can know the last whereabouts of their children in case we of kidnappings.

The app will also have a community safety feature where in case of danger, when you use the app to sound an alarm, it will notify all the people within a 25m radius from you to come help.

Since insecurity is a global issue this solution is meant to be a global one, especially for those who are very vulnerable to being attacked by criminals.

As a single developer who has been programming for four years now, I believe I am skilled enough to create this application.

Of course, I do not expect to not fail a few times while trying to create an application that will wow the general public, but with persistence and enough guidance I believe I'll pull it off.

I have been coding in python for nearly 3 years. Though I have never published any of my projects to the general public, I believe wholeheartedly, this will be a success.

Also, I am very enthusiastic about solving global issues. I believe that if given a shot, I can create something that will make the the world a safer place.

To be honest, most of the time I have spent creating the idea of this app I have sent it collecting ideas from others. Most of the ideas I have mentioned are compilations and improvements of suggestions given to me by others.

Therefore, I feel that this app will please the general public.

I have not had a lot of opportunities to do volunteer work because of school and the unavailability of many volunteer organizations in Nigeria.

The way it automatically helps you do the kind of things you need to do during an emergency situation when you don't have time to do them and you don't want the criminal before you to know what has you want to do is one of the features of my app that make it special.

Another special feature is the ability to connect it to your fire and burglary alarms in order to not be caught unawares when things have become too late.

Lastly, I think the most unique feature of my app is the community safety feature which beacons on others who are close to you to help you out on dangerous situations.

I hope that my solution will be able to tackle even more security problems and it would have made a noticeable change in the hazardous effects of crime in Nigeria and in the world at large.

I hope that this solution would be basically an app that would be installed almost immediately a person gets a new device like one would install Instagram or WhatsApp.

I hope that safe would be able to change the way people react when in danger positively by the next one year 

The core technology behind my application would be python.

In the next one year I hope to be serving over a million people globally

A barrier that is very likely to hinder the progress of my solution is the fact that a lot of Nigerians still can not afford mobile phones and since this is to be a mobile application, a lot of people in Nigeria (as well as a lot of other parts of the world) may not be able to reach it.
