Nature’s Food Preservation

Drying fruits and vegetables, turn them into powder to allow them to be used throughout the seasons. 

Problems I am trying to solve are such that : 

Fruits and vegetables are mostly only available on seasonal so I am giving access to nutrition's found in respective fruits and vegetables anytime of the year, any season.

Some individuals especially those in remote areas do not have electricity so I will Make usage of drying fruits and vegetables easier in all areas electrified and not electrified as storage does not require electricity.

A lot of meals for example smoothies are not healthy so my aim is to provide Fast yet healthy meals. 

Scale of the problem in my community is standing at 90% as I do not have competitors except for a direct competitor which is Food Lovers market that stores some fruits and vegetables, but do not dry them. Not having any kind of business locally, makes my business idea as a first mover in my geographical location.

Almost everyone in my community is affected because people do not have any access to specific fruits and vegetables during some seasons. 

Factors contributing to the problem is knowledge and skills and draught which results into not having access to fruits and vegetables in some seasons.

Our idea of reprocessing, drying, and turning fruits and vegetables in powder as a first mover in both Namibia and Zambia (geographical location of our group members). 

So the process and technology it uses will go by: 

Drying fruits and vegetables in our home fridge although not 100% effective as its time consuming.

•Explore an option of freeze drying at home

•Dry ice by packing them in plastic bags fully closed.

•Smash the dried fruits to turn it into a powder

•Pack and give for free to family and neighbours and ask for feedback .

Our target population is 80% of the population because almost everyone needs fruits and vegetables throughout the year. A lot of the youth engage in making smoothies and adults needs fast food, and the fact that it’s going to be served healthier is a bonus. Some individuals don’t consider consuming fast food as of now because most of them are unhealthy and full of sugar. So we are targeting to serve those people at the best of our abilities. People living in villages don’t have fridges to keep their fruits and vegetables so having them in powders, will make it easier for them. 

we have divided ourselves according to our best ability in the key area business skills, those who have participated or skilled in marketing stays at the marketing side, finance with its individuals and products itself. We have been involved in various business activities before and thus will help us tackle business challenges, use strengths such as innovation and creativity to lead our business idea. 

We have engaged potential users in the design and development of our business idea through finding a need in society and involving them in our solution, research how they like to be served and the most important fruits they prefer so we start with them.
