Sign<tech>
Real time speech to sign language translation for deaf individuals to facilitate equal flow of information at schools.
When we are in the streets, we see a lot of deaf vendors. It is not because these people are unable to do the jobs that we do but because we have forgotten to pave a way for them like what our teachers did for us.
We have schools that take these people but hardly any universities. But does that mean we as a country cannot have deaf doctors or Software developers?
Hiring a translator for an hour is expensive more so what about the whole semester? Our system solves this gap by solving SDG 4 that is Quality education and also SDG 8(Decent work and economic growth) and socio-economic status where a lot of deaf people sale airtime while some of us attain decent jobs.
The sign<tech > introduces sign language to the whole new world of education 5.0. With the use of Artificial Intelligence and neural networks, we present a Real Time System that can be put in place in major lecture rooms so as to translate and allow equal flow of knowledge to everyone in the room. Utilizing the available in the public domain, sign language dictionary, that teaches people sign language. Our system will be able to cater for those that have managed to finish their Ordinary and Advanced level and want to broaden their knowledge in tertiary education institutes. The basis of the system is real time information dissemination from the lecturer to the student with the aid of computerized hardware with speech to sign software embedded within the systems.
In this era where we have managed to digitalise everything, we have forgotten about the person next to us, who is not able to hear. To promote the increase of literacy to these people, Sign<tech> introduces a system for learning
Our system eliminates the barrier that stands in the way of knowledge sharing to deaf people and enhances student to lecture relationship without need for any special requirements and attention. This allows tertiary institutes to eliminate the need to have special programs for deaf students but allows them to an opportunity to pursue any career in any field of their choice.
Our system reduces not only total cost of data sharing via translators, it enables 100% efficiency in data delivery at the pace of the lecturer allowing equal flow of knowledge to everyone in the room, eliminating any data and time losses as interpreters get tired resulting in omissions of relevant information and slowing down the lecturer to try and catch up.
our target market is not only limited to Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutes but also companies who will employ deaf individuals.
Cresentia B Moyo-skilled in Application development, Data analysis, Project management
Vimbainashe J Chindoore-skilled in Machine learning and web development
Caroline B Moyo-skilled in Project management,Artificial intelligence
Nkosikhona J Dube-Database and Backend developer
Pharoah Masimo -Frontend Developer
We have gone to some deaf institutes, talked to the teachers and students and have also monitored how they carry out their lessons.
Some of the staff members have also advised us on how best we can build the system so as to accommodate their teaching methods
- Improving learning opportunities and outcomes for learners across their lifetimes, from early childhood on (Learning)
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model
The sign<tech> introduces sign language to the whole new world of education 5.0. With the use of Artificial Intelligence and neural networks, we present a Real Time System that can be put in place in major lecture rooms so as to translate and allow equal flow of knowledge to everyone in the room .It will be available through licensing to all public and private institutes and organizations. The system will be installed on high performance lecturer’s computers they use for lecturer delivery to enable high speed real time translations. The lecture will be having a mic with them wirelessly connected to their machine which will be broadcasting the interpretations directly to projected screen and connected laptops of students. Using sign language datasets , our system will be trained and tested to give a fast prediction of each word uttered by a lecturer.
The we currently going to schools, conducting career guidance and motivating more deaf students to advance with their education. In turn this will push the students and motivate them to advance in their education there by also indirectly creating a market or increasing a market for Signtech .So far we have engaged with two schools that cater for the disabled.
The core technologies will be Artificial Intelligences ,Neural networks in Python programming
- Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning
- Big Data
- Software and Mobile Applications

Our Target market are all the tertiary institutes in the country, that is approximately 25 public universities in the country, and more than 30 polytechnics, colleges and also individual users who are interested in using the system.
we hope to get profits from licensing the system to them there by creating long term customers. With the success of the innovation, the system can be installed in every tertiary institute that promotes to produce deaf graduates. We have approximately 25 public universities in the country, and more than 30 polytechnics and colleges. Not only educational sector needs this system, it also comes handy in making sure no one is left in organizations spreading awareness and in team building.
We are still working on a video dataset for the Zimbabwean Sign language.
We are currently working with POTRAZ In Zimbabwe

For the generation of revenue, we will licence the system to all public and private tertiary institutes for approximately $ 25 000, multiplied by the average number of institutes to use our system 50. We get $ 1 250 000 as profit monthly (Nearly the same amount as the one we need to develop the system)
As the number of organisations who adopt the system increases, our profits will also increase.
