Revise Sing
Revise Sing combines music and learning to inspire students and form an engaging classroom.
Over 98% of students experience boredom in school and a further 73% simply do not enjoy it. Schools are very aware of this but struggle to find a solution, however, the solution is evident with 97% of students listening to music every week, why? Enjoyment.
Enjoyment creates engagement and this is the problem Revise Sing has the solution to. Revise Sing provides students with a reason to want to go to class we are there why. The power of music is insurmountable, scientific studies carried out show music increases dopamine levels in the brain by 10%, furthermore, songs are remembered 20% more effectively than spoken words alone. Put simply, music makes you happy and you remember more!
There are 2 main segments to Revise Sing, firstly, students have the ability to create their own revision songs in class. Students can enter the text they wish to learn and select a genre of music, they then have three options whether to sing the song as a class, leave the song unsung and just see the word on screen much like karaoke or the user has the option to have the song sung by a professional artist as part of their subscription plan.
Segment 2 is the database of songs. The database will ensure students always have materials at their fingertips to Revise. To give an example a student will select Biology – Cell Division – Rap, and numerous songs will then appear, this is crucial as it gives the students an all-important choice.
We strongly believe that Revise Sing's values strongly align with MIT mission, why? Because music is for all! Music doesn't care about where you were born or the colour of your skin, music is the epitome of collaboration, it's power to bring about class cohesion and put a smile on both the student's and teachers' faces cannot be understated. Over 90% of students listen to music every week which is proof that music truly is for all.
Although we are aimed at neurotypical secondary schools, through our validation Revise Sing has found a significant fit within the SEND sector, we know the tremendous value we can offer these disadvantaged students and give them the confidence they are lacking by allowing them to express themselves with music.
There is a critical problem currently within the UK education sector and that is mental health with over 75% of students reporting they are stressed at school and a further 98% reporting they are bored! Revise Sing wants to tackle this and offer the students something to look forward to in the classroom, it is evident they love music and it is also evident that music can tremendously improve both their attention and memory, so let's give the students what they want.
Drill/rap music is currently a major issue in the UK. It is often associated with disadvantaged young males in deprived areas who are heavily influenced by it. The UK government have actively tried to eradicate it but, Revise Sing turns that on its head and says please do not stop your passion for this music but let's simply turn it into a positive outcome. We do this by allowing the students to still keep their passion for that genre of music but use it in an educational format which will inevitably benefit all.
The founder of Revise Sing is Callum Traynor, Callum is a young entrepreneur at 22 years of age. At school Callum struggled with dyslexia, however, this brought about a fire to do well and succeed. To date, Callum has founded 4 separate companies and achieved a highly commendable standard for all of them. Our Co-Founder Andrei Petrou is a Cambridge graduate with many years of experience within the startup ecosystem. We also have two advisors, Bridget Lazardies who was a teacher for 20+ years, and Angus Barclay a very successful music producer.
To date Revise Sing has seen impressive early traction, there are over 30 schools willing to subscribe to Revise Sing upon launch. Our validation provided astoundingly positive feedback from teachers who couldn’t wait to have it in their hands. Revise Sing has been a part of two programmes to date one with Founder and Lightning and the second with Nova, where Revise Sing was selected to be in the final stage with only two companies when over 300 applicants had applied. Lastly, Revise Sing has made ties within the UK government with highly influential people who back the concept and want to help roll it to UK schools.
- Improving learning opportunities and outcomes for learners across their lifetimes, from early childhood on (Learning)
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model
Currently, within schools in the UK we have found that a minority of teachers love to use music and find it really benefits the students. However, they cannot access the correct resources to carry this out on an ongoing basis as there simply isn't enough content out there. On the other hand, the vast majority of teachers currently use monotonous methods of learning such as PowerPoints. We, therefore offer a fresh stance to the classroom by being the first company to offer schools an application that allows their students to create revision songs effectively.
Our goal is to rejuvanate the education sector. By next year our product will be in the market making a change. We wish to impact over 50,000 students by the end of year.
Our software will be a pioneer within the market and feasibility has been assured by multiple technical agencies. Our core software involves a student entering the lyrics/text they wish to learn, the student will then select a genre of music to have the beat made to. From this point, our AI technology will analyse these lyrics/text and select a pre-stored beat from within the app that best aligns with the lyrics/text. The app will then match the text/lyrics to the beat and the user will see their song on screen much like karaoke. This is something that has never been done before making Revise Sing a maverick within the market.

We expect to serve 50,000 students or circa 200 schools next year.
Our biggest issue to date has been finding the right partner. We are confident in our product and have proved/evidenced the need in the market for such a product, but our biggest issue has been finding a partner we can fully trust to develop the product to our expectations. With regards to financials, we have currently not raised any investment for Revise Sing however, multiple avenues are being explored and we are confident we will get funding at the appropriate time. In respect to barriers within the market, currently, schools are struggling financially, and although Revise Sing is well-priced and not a huge financial commitment for schools we can see why the price range may potentially put off certain schools. In order to combat this we are exploring the possibility of the freemium model, especially within the early stages of launch in order to get initial traction and evidence how our product is able to help our demographic on a large scale.

We are a subscription-based model, we operate in both B2B and B2C markets.
In year 1 we will target schools B2B, this is due to the reason that Revise Sing is a double-sided network operating a create/consume model. We need the creation of the content (the database of songs) to be created first before students are able to consume.
In year 2 onwards we will operate in both the B2B and B2C markets, this is due to the reason that by year 2 we expect to have sufficient content on the application that will allow the B2C model to fully be operational.
Our pricing structure for B2B ranges from £60-£200/month dependant on the number of active accounts within the school.
Our B2C structure is £3.99/month.
Revise Sing is currently looking to raise capital in order to have our application developed. We are also exploring the route of grants as we believe our product will have a significant impact on our demographic.
As mentioned we are operate in both the B2B and B2C markets.
Our pricing structure for B2B ranges from £60-£200/month dependant on the number of active accounts within the school.
Our B2C structure is £3.99/month.
