Around The Corner Technology
Mobile phones have come a long way since their introduction and have since developed into extremely complicated tools of communication, even though these devices are very sophisticated, they are still basic communication devices that are governed by some simple laws of Physics specifically Line-Of-Sight (LOS) for high frequency waves.
This is the true and ultimate Achilles hill for this form of communication, but like all laws that we don't like as humans, we can circumvent the physics using simple tactics. By making phones to autonomously help each other during time or situations of cell receptions hardships.

This strategy could be liken Parents assisting their Children to overcome hurdles.
this communication strategy is merely solving the issue of poor communication especially in remote areas in a very cost effective way, the implications or rather the benefits of putting this technology concept into reality don't need to be overstretched because they are simply obvious, but for the sake of making a point i will refer to my home country Lesotho. the country is very mountainous, it split into three topographical zone which are the lowlands, foothills and highlands and throughout these zones the are mountains every where, "if you can't see a mountain in Lesotho, its because you are standing on top of the highest mountain".

so this obviously creates a challenge for the mobile service providers because even the best network planning can only go so far before the the laws of commerce affects their operations in a negative way. so in light of this, Lesotho has a lot of communication black holes especially in the rural highlands where ironically cellular communication is vital because of poor transportation infrastructure and distant essential services such as health and law enforcement facilities.
This solution in meant tobe intergrated into handsets as a basic design feature ... so its meant to serve all people who use cellular communications.
Because the proposed solution is theoretical but it can be turned into a reality without any major problems because all the required hardware, software technologies and protocols are existing it just a matter of modifying them to accommodate this strategy.
With that being said, lets consider a simple situation involving two phones one with a reception and the other without a reception but both phones in view of each other. the phone without a reception automatically switches into child mode on a dedicated channel and waits to be call up. the one with reception when it determines that it is idle for some predetermined time switches to parent mode and scans for an inactive channel and becomes a controller of the channel and starts periodic call searching for any child that needs attention. in the case where it there is no response, it hops to the next and re-attempts to connect to a child but if it finds a child it connects to the child and now all messages from the child go though it but with an extra header or metadata indicating the true source of the message (for billing purposes).

- Ensure all citizens can overcome barriers to civic participation and inclusion
- Concept
- New application of an existing technology
This is a solution of a problem, that all manufactures either ignored because, they are mainly successful in a broader scheme of things, but they failed to realize is the loss on all side due to the lost connection over time.
the solution forms part of the cellular technology, because its a minor upgrade to make it more efficient.

the solution will not address the problem in entirety, but it will connect a whole lot more people especially in remote places who truly need the connection.

with his solution ... no infrastructure, expertise and special funding required apart from the one that is already existing, this just need all the players and regulatory bodies involved to come together and agree on the specifics on how its going to work, i am merely showing the world that it is possible and hoping they listen.

Assuming the the technology could become a reality, then every mobile device would have it as a standard design feature, so sustainability is not an issue.
maybe this solution will get an audience and hopefully bring it to life for the benefit of mankind, .... i wrote about this ages ago and did not get a good response. what really gets to me is that these devices are supposed to be smart , but they are still handicapped by this problem that i solved more than a decade ago.

any and all telecom design companies that are willing to be part of the solution.
Hmmm, since i am writing on behalf of myself, ... a more powerful computer would do because i am also an Android developer, GIS mapper Land surveyor, and also the prize money would go into inquiring new survey equipment for the organisation i work for.
