Celal-Mex
Mexican startup dedicated to use agricultural waste for the sustainable production of bioproducts.
Traditional cellulose production from wood, environmental contamination by organic agricultural residues.
In short, we work on solutions that take advantage of waste and also reuse water and chemicals to have a lower impact than traditional production while investigating new ways of development with zero waste impact.
We use waste and chemicals while recirculating our processes to have less impact than traditional cellulose production with biotechnology for the creation of these bioproducts.
With the benefit of the community in mind, Celal-Mex will buy part of the dried leaves to produce cellulose from the farmers, which would increase their monthly income by 14%, and reduce the pollution of the site by avoiding an accumulation of waste and the farmers having to pay to collect it.
By providing a sustainable and environmentally friendly raw material for the creation of products, Celal-mex will empower the public by giving them the opportunity to decide to be responsible consumers, that is, they can decide to buy a product that contains renewable raw materials such as our cellulose and does not affect the environment.
The construction of Celal-Mex's industrial plant will increase the purchasing power of the people hired in the area, since it will generate more than 100 direct and indirect jobs, allowing them to enjoy a greater amount of goods and services, as well as impacting social mobility and migration, preventing people from moving to other states and/or countries in search of job opportunities.
We have experience in entrepreneurship for more than 4 years, in organizations such as Enactus, Tec de Monterrey, etc. Also in the laboratory we have worked with internationally recognized researchers. We have participated and won in some national competitions such as Enactus 2022, UNITEC 2022 Award, IncPrototype 2021, we have been speakers on sustainability and circular economy at Tec de Monterrey and we have been invited with a stand at IncMty 2022.
Among other things, we have won scholarships and developed skills in leadership, entrepreneurship, critical thinking and bioproduct development.

Products:
Mainly for cellulose, we want to cover part of the national demand for cellulose pulp, due to the high import costs and the devastating environmental impact generated by the traditional pulp industry. For starch, we want to look for ecological alternatives to the use of corn that could be better used as food production. Basically, our products are managed under a B2B model but with a direct impact on the environment, consumers and the national supply chain. Because Mexican industry is looking for cheaper, quality and sustainable alternatives.
Products sales: cellulose, starch, bioplastic, nanocellulose, phenols among others.
Investment capital for research.
