Associated Problems on HIV response in Zambia, the country has high number of HIV infections in children, Adolescents and young people. Adolescents girls have become more victims to new HIV infection compared to adolescent boys,this has shown that most of the HIV infection associated to adolescent girls and young women leads to lack of HIV testing among adolescent boys and young people. Specification of the leading cause of HIV infections are associated with Sexual gender based violence, stigma and discrimination,Mental health response in people living with HIV,High rate of viral load,lack of HIV acceptance, Alcohol and drug abuse and lack of Counselling sessions at health facilities. Sexual gender based violence in adolescent girls and young women in Zambia has lead to most HIV infection that has caused trauma in most adolescents, of about 35% from january to september 2022, indicators has shown high rate of sexual gender based violence in some parts of the country which has contributed to high rate of HIV infections. According to the new statistic mental health issues among people living with HIV is very high which was estimated of about 73% passing through mental health issues, of which 64% are adolescents and young people, this has lead to most of adolescent not adhering to treatment due to lack of HIV acceptance and intensive counselling sessions at health facilities. High Viral load among children, adolescents and young people is still a major challenge that is one of the factors causing new infections due to lack of HIV disclosure to sexual partner, non HIV acceptance, lack of moral support from parents and guardians etc.
Proposed SolutionsAwake project is expected to reach atleast 3000 children, adolescents and young people in communities, it will create a focus group discussion for adolescents and young having a high viral to be monitored in an enhanced adherence counseling(EAC) for three months to meet for a group session for three months every Saturday till discharge from from EAC, the focus group discussion also focuses on care givers for adolescents and young people that have been enrolled into enhanced adherence counselling to help monitor adolescents and young people at their various homes which the peer support workers will help in home visits and ensuring execess counselling at the health facilities. HIV response in relation with mental health issues among adolescents and young people living with HIV to train mental health ambassadors that will help enhance mental health counseling sessions and activities for both living and affected with HIV, alcohol and drug abuse management sessions, sexual gender based violence intensive counselling sessions, this will consist two mental health ambassadors at each health facility that the project will be implemented. Formation of support group discussions in health facilities for adolescents and young people living with HIV in order to offer psycho social, emotional,physical supports in relation to HIV treatment and care. Radio and television program, radio program will run once of every month in order to reach out to high number of AYPs around the country that will focus on HIV response in young people with adequate information through facility engagement of peers at the youth friendly spaces and support group for AYPs living with HIV, TV program will air three(3) times with the project specified period of implementation. It will carry out community,school and church outreaches to provide information that every AYP are not left behind to reduce new HIV infection in Zambia, this will be conducted in the specified communities of selected facilities to sensitize and mobilize through providing health information.

Awake project with its motto My space, my care addresses the need of children, adolescents and young people living and affected with HIV in age range of 0 to 24years.The project will be implemented in two province of Zambia which is Lusaka and Eastern province.Lusaka province the project will consist of Three (3) districts, in kafue,chongwe and lusaka district,both kafue and chongwe district will implement the project at one health facility each.Lusaka district will consist of five(5) health facilities which has urge population and a high rate of HIV infections in adolescents and young people especially adolescent girls. Eastern province will implement the project in one district which is senanga district that will cover two health facilities due to high number of teenage pregnancies and early marriages that has contributed to high number of HIV infections , statistically data has shown that from January to September 2022 in Zambia, of about 38000 new infections in adolescents and young people which 3800 are infants.Awake project covers a wide range of activities that will ensure HIV response in children,adolescents and young people in the communities are covered with adequate information and activities to reduce HIV infections that will run the project for six(6) months from January to June 2023.
Objective Youth Alliance network in Zambia seeks to empower adolescents and youths to impact knowledge on SRHR, HIV/AIDs, mental health and fight for what counts to raise the voices within their communities.Our aim is to have adolescents and youths to take pride and challenge their health status and fight for what counts to raise their voices in society..An empowered generation of adolescents and with adequate knowledge information on sexual reproductive health life, HIV/AIDS and mental health.To reach out to 3000 adolescents and young people in values communities to enhance the prevention of HIV infections.GoalsEducate adolescents and youths on development issues affecting them and how they can take action to address them, including but not limited to sexual and reproductive health and rights, climate change and unemployment.Facilitate the meaningful, active involvement of adolescents and young people in civic leadership dialogue and as volunteer workers for the development of their communities.Facilitate dialogue and break barriers around adolescent and young people on HIV/AIDS, Mental health, sexual reproductive health and rights,.Life-skills and livelihood skills development through promoting income-generating activities and training on different vocational skills for adolescent and youths to become self-sufficiency
Achievement
The project will consist of project lead to ensure that activities are in place,reports are done before the due date, which the project lead will work in hand with Youth Alliance Network in Zambia that will provide assistance which the reports needs to be approved by the executive director before submission. The project lead will also work with the finance manager to ensure adequate expenditure flow in line with project budget and objectives that will provide financial reports aswel to ensures that IAS is aware on how the funds are being used in the project. The project will also include M&E officer to monitor and evaluate the projects activities and reports to ensure that activities are in line with the project. The project will also recruit volunteers at health facilities that will be trained as Mental health ambassadors, Teen mentors, and peer educators. The mental health ambassadors will help in couselling sessions at the health facilities, these will only be stationed at the heath facilities to ensure excess help is provided to adolescents and young people living and affected with HIV,Alcohol and drug abuse,mental disorder, Post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD), panic attack etc. The teen mentors will conduct a training sessions for adolescents and young people at health facilities for adolescents and young people living with HIV, which will be conducted every Saturday for three(3) months that consists of Thirteen(13) sessions in a roll to have at least 30 adolescents per facility. Peer educators will help conduct community outreaches to reach out to adolescents and young people in various communities,schools and churches of the project. These will help achieve a reductions of new HIV infections, viral load reductions, alcohol and drug abuse management,mental health issues to reduce.The indicators will ensure at least 1500 adolescents are reached by the end of first quarter from January to march, three radio programs are done,one Tv show has been achieved.This project will help adolescents and young people be resilience in life and become better that will help them become the voice of their community.
Smart care program enhances the monitoring and evaluation of Adolescents and young people to keep track on the appointment dates,viral load and how they are taking ARVs medication, the smart care software helps health workers to continue accessing AYPs that are facing different challenges which includes mental health.
