Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, teachers and students found themselves facing many problems, one of them is spending all the time in front the screen and students became just listeners. Hereby with the presence of the Multiple Intelligences a theory first initiated by Gardner in 1983. Came the idea of using this theory even during online learning. This will help students to learn through the manner they love and by doing several activities not just watching the teacher speaking. In addition, the materials of this app (activities and videos) are the result of a PhD research which was applied in a Lebanese school, where students were taught sciences via tablets for 6 months, during the year 2018-2019.
This first version of this app is formed from 6 science chapters for Grade 5 students, in addition to activities targeting the four Multiple Intelligences (linguistic, Naturalistic, kinesthetic, and spatial). The chapters are:
- Respiratory system
- Circulatory system
- Animals Food Chain
- Light and its colors
- Electrical circuits
- Refraction and lenses
Each chapter contains 4 activities LI (linguistic intelligence), NI (Naturalistic Intelligence), KI (Kinesthetic Intelligence), and SI (Spatial Intelligence) with a quiz at the end. When entering the app the student and/or parent can see the description of the app, with two icons on the bottom of the page (About us, contact us), in addition to the chapters. When choosing the chapter from the interface, the student can choose the activity of the Multiple Intelligence he/she wants.
The activities suggested for students in this app like inventing songs about a theme, walking in the nature and discover many materials, make crafts about a lesson... would motivate students to learn sciences in an innovative and easy way. They will be motivated to enhance their knowledge not from memorizing but from having fun.

Tablets are an emerged technical tool used in education since 2010 and the majority of the schools are implanting it without definitive guidelines or pilot studies. The literature review showed a gap in the research done to study the impact of tablets on students’ achievements or intelligences. Thus, a research has been conducted to study the impact of using tablets in the classroom on the multiple intelligences of students, and it is significant because it offers special guidelines for education policymakers about how to implement tablets in education. For this, a quasi-experimental research following the quantitative and qualitative methods has been conducted in a school in Beirut where the students of Grade 5 have learnt science via tablets for 6 months. Multiple intelligence test has been conducted at the beginning and at the end to measure the 4 intelligences this research targeted (Linguistic, naturalistic, kinesthetic, and spatial), with the presence of a control group. The results collected from interviews with experts, focus groups, observation in the classroom, in addition to the MI test, showed that the use of tablets in the classroom does not have an impact on the multiple intelligences kinesthetic, spatial, and naturalistic, and it has a negative impact on linguistic intelligence. Other variables affect the MI of students more than the use of tablets, and those are the environment of house and school. We can conclude from the results of this research, that the use of ICT in education by itself and especially tablets would not affect students’ education. It is how to implement and use tablets that matter. Therefore, before thinking about implementing ICT in schools, we have to think about how to ensure a positive environment for their students in schools and houses. As a result of this research, an application (ZAKA@) has been developed regrouping the materials prepared to students and it has been registered in the Lebanese ministry of economy and trade.
Multiple intelligence theory encourages teachers to use several methods of teaching taking into consideration how a student can learn (visual, naturalistic, linguistic, logic.). with Covid 19 the teaching was conducted online and through screens, this app that referred to MI theory might be used during online learning to differentiate the ways of teaching and encourage student to interact wit their environment to learn.
it affects directly the students and teachers, we can measure its effect by how much teachers and students use it and if they were happy and motivated.
on the long term, it can be measured by how much teachers apply MI in their teaching methods (online and offline).
the application was tested in a school, a control and experimental group were present, and students of the experimental group (60 students) who tried this application said that they were so motivated according to their answers during focus groups and questionnaires. we can say that according to Nesta's standards, it fits levels 3-4.
The application would be evaluated according:
- the number of downloads
- the multiple intelligence elevation of students (measured by shearer scale)
- students motivation
- teachers satisfaction
An educational application aiming to help students to learn sciences according the type of their Multiple Intelligence.
- Pilot
it would beneficial to know how can we profit from tis app and make it available in the world and ow can we financially et benefit from it.
the interaction with fellows and experts from the world would be very interesting in addition of getting the good experience how to develop our app.
This competition will ensure my association and myself a good visibility and it will put me in contact wit different experts.
