Entrepreneurship is not easy as people use to think. We use to face so much difficulties, sometimes
you feel like you want to quit. The main problem that we facing is the competition with those who
started before us and who have much resources than us, no matter how good is your product, to
compete with them you feel like a goat fighting with an elephant. They are wholesalers and use to
import goods from outside.
We also facing the hesitation of clients to buy for our product because they are not familiar with
and it takes much time to be cooked. Moreover, due to limited resources, we use to buy small
quantity of raw materials. This causes that the price of the product is a little bit higher.
Food For Life started to produce SUPER ENERGY FARINA to address the problem of malnutrition of children and pregnant women in DRCongo. While producing the product, customers like it but it takes much time to be cooked that is why after collecting Surveys from them they suggested us to improve the product. Then we thought of how we can improve. The only way was to start manufacturing the instant porridge what will not only satisfy the customer's need but also boost our sales and allow us to be more competitive on the market.
Every one doesn't have the same revenue. Nevertheless, we are projecting to facilitate even those with low income to enjoy the product. We will put on the market boxes of 1kg, 500g, 300g and 200g.
Furthermore, we are working closely with local farmers to be supplied in fresh harvested raw materials. Once we start the phase what is manufacturing INSTANT SUPER ENERGY FARINA we are planning for empower them with necessary tools so they will become more productive by also considering the climate change issues.
Due to limited resource and lack of necessary machines, we actually producing a small quantity. Our current cumulative income is USD 3,600$. We are producing 80kg per week. We are working with girls to encourage them by showing that they can also do great things. We have a program that facilitate everyone to acquire share in our company especially our agents when they performing well. This program will be expended to all youths especially those in secondary school and university to empower them with tools to embrace the entrepreneurship.
Once we start working on INSTANT SUPER ENERGY FARINA we are projecting to sale 5,200kg per month. In five years, 998,400kg.
This year we have sold 1,500kg. This means that we have served 1,500 families only with small tools that we have. Malnutrition is a disaster that must be eradicated. African more than other are the most touched by this issue. Especially in DRCongo where since 1996 we are facing unfinished war. Due to this where is massive rural exodus, people living up countries are often most involved in the agriculture industry. But when they fear of their lives so the abandone everything behind them and try to start a new life! The you will observe the increase of malnutrition. This is the fight what is ours, in near future we are planning to empower youths especially those local farmers to improve their productivity and how they can start from the planting step to the harvest stage and finally to the transformation of raw materials to the finished product.
Proteins and vitamins in INSTANT SUPER ENERGY FARINA are very essential for children healthy and growth. Entrepreneurs are working differently but with the same objective what is to eradicate the malnutrition in the world. Everyone is using tools in his or her hands but with the common end.
