One Kiosk Africa
One Kiosk Africa is redefining a sustainable E-commerce business model for Africa. One Kiosk Africa connects people and communities leveraging technology to ensure delivery within 20-59 minutes, open new markets and create more jobs for youths along the value chain.
So Ade is on a business trip to Lekki, Lagos, he forgot his tooth brush back home in Abuja and needs one delivered to him. He picks up the One Kiosk App and type in Brush; he selects color and type, makes payment on the platform. The nearest merchant within a 1-2km radius around his location (Lekki) is matched to him to deliver the brush according to the specifications within
Our revenue model which is transaction base with commissions ranging from 5-15% based on the type of goods or services on the platform. The One Kiosk platform goal is to create over 100,000 within the next 6 months.
In Africa, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) contribute to over 85% of the employment force absorption. In Nigeria, there still exist a whopping 42% high rate of unemployment and underemployment when put together as at the report released by the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics for 2018. The Nigerian E-commerce sector poses great potentials, with a market estimation of over $15 billion and growth potentials to $75 billion by year 2025 according to McKinsey report. This is however not the case with key factors such as poor delivery timeline, high cost in price and logistics for delivery, concerns on safety of information online and quality of product accounting for the low impact and penetration. The above factors has led to increased dissatisfied customers and closure of various E-commerce solutions over the last 5 years which could have contributed towards reducing the unemployment rate and helping MSMEs have a platform to distribute their products or services.
Our target market is MSMEs and busy professionals who struggle daily to connect with each other to fulfill their needs for sales and value. Through our solution, we are able to connect MSMEs to wider pool of customers within their radius of operations (Branch or HQ) and with our neighborhood community Pro-delivery service deliver products and services to the customers within a 59 minute cycle.
One Kiosk Africa connects communities and people to the basic things they wants provided by Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) also known as merchants thus fulfilling every need through neighborhood engagement and service with a turnaround cycle of 59 minutes. One Kiosk Africa has three major focuses:
1. Connect Customers with merchants to fulfill their needs in a smarter, faster and efficient manner leveraging on GPS technology and tracking system.
2. Provide a secure, credible and cost effective platform for MSMEs to distribute their offerings to a wider pool of customers within their neighborhood or area of presence.
3. Create employment opportunities within the value chain through our One Pro-delivery community delivery system with a target to create over 100,000 jobs over the next six months.
One Kiosk platform would avail customers with a safe, fast and reliable option to always get their needs sorted within a 59 minutes cycle while also having the opportunity to share knowledge and participate on issues within their neighborhood.

We provide a tech-driven solution to busy working professionals and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to connect by leveraging artificial intelligence and GPS technology, we’re able to personalize results for users through a data-driven yet, fast, and efficient way. We also specifically built for low-income, middle class and communities to engage and boost local efficiency. By contrast, other E-commerce solutions in the past have been unable to utilize community engagements thus leading to high cost for delivery and poor delivery turnaround time. We also use a community base delivery system through our One Pro-delivery system where professionals within the neighborhood are assigned to make deliveries, this not only create employment opportunities but also builds credibility and trust which is a major challenge in Nigeria and some parts of Africa. All funds are also kept in escrow and thus every user is assured of quality service or refund of payment made on our platform if not satisfied.
Our E-commerce platform is software intended to solve the problem of poor turnaround time to connect with merchants within your neighborhood and associated cost of logistics involved to deliver online orders - this use of technology makes us highly scalable and accessible to reach a large number of people. We're developing a platform which leverages on GPS technology to match and track the nearest merchant to you within the shortest possible distance. Through artificial intelligence algorithm, we also track user behavior and need patterns and match them to best merchants around them at every point. As this continues to grows (which is at a fast pace), our algorithms will improve significantly, and be able to provide likely products the user may need in anticipation (and not retrospectively), and continuously improve the service/product and merchants matched to users through the process.

Our research and publications has shown that over 65% of internet users shop online with 24% likely to do so in the future. In Africa, Nigeria accounts for 89% of internet users that are potential online shoppers, followed by South Africa with 70% and Kenya with 60%. The recent survey conducted by Ventures Africa shows that out of every 500 adults involved in the survey, 53% of those who have shopped online indicated that faster delivery of goods would encourage them to shop more often online. 40 percent indicated that safer ways to pay was a key driver while 31 percent indicated lower product costs as a driver to do more shopping online.
Our solution offers the answers to the problems identified through;
1. The use of GPS and Artificial intelligence to match customers to merchants near them thus ensuring faster and safer delivery within a 59 minutes cycle.
2. Our escrow payment solution builds and promote trust and confidence in the user to shop online knowing that One Kiosk holds funds in trust and would only be released once value has been received. 3. The use of One pro-delivery members and healthy competition between merchants would reduce the associated cost of logistics which usually accounts for high product pricing. Thus make available competitive pricing rate available for online users.

Since October 2018, One Kiosk Africa has engaged over 15,000 active user subscribers comprising of merchants and consumers. Our projection shows that this would increase by 400% come June 2019 when we would be fully deployed and operational via our mobile App. By December 2019, we expect to have created about 100,000 direct and indirect jobs in Nigeria through the value chain of our platform while serving about 250,000 users in Nigeria alone. In five years, we intend to have grown with our service reaching over 3.5 million users in 5 African/Arab countries; Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa and Egypt.
In the next 12 months, we expect to be serving at least half a million customers and communities through the One Kiosk Africa platform. For our merchants, we intend to have introduced workable offerings to increase their capacity to efficiently take charge of the delivery systems either by absorbing our One Pro-delivery members or building their own system. In 5 years, that's by 2024, we expect to have grown to over 3.5 million users and created over 1 million direct and indirect jobs through our platform value chain. The platform should also be accounting for about 10% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the African countries (Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and Egypt) where we operate by year 2024. This is in line with the research report by NASPERS that projects E-commerce would account for 10% of Africa's economic GDP by year 2025.
Key Barriers for our solutions;
1. International Expansion: Our solution has high potentials to scale fast across Africa and the globe and would be great to explore this opportunities through Solve.
2. Funding: Marketing takes about 30% of our finance as visibility and awareness is key for our solution. We intend to explore funding opportunities through the Solve while also leveraging on referrals from satisfied users.
3. Language: The high potentials to scale across non English speaking countries would require a bit of twig to our current solution in order to accommodate our international users. This is already in the medium-long term development plans.
We would overcome the above mentioned barriers through:
1. Partnerships and Collaborations: We believe so much in partnerships and collaborations to get more done timely and efficiently. This is one of the reason we are applying to Solve in other to broaden our network. Already in Nigeria, we already have about 50 partnerships (media, public, private and other stakeholders) who would help us get more quick wins. We intend to grow this internationally across Africa and the globe.
2. Funding: Finance is the blood of every business and as such we identified key local and international venture capital firms we can partner with to achieve our funding rounds and needs for future expansion.
3. Language Barriers: We intend to collaborate and outsource where needed for language translators aside using Google translator, Machine learning among other technologies to drive impact.

The $100,000 from Everytown for Gun Safety Prize would be used to deepen our solution within Nigeria. Poverty is the root cause of violence and other social vices in any society, our solution would avail active job creation estimated around 1 million in 5 years along our value chain across Africa. We are already gaining grounds and with $100,000 we believe our solution would scale further with social impact of job creation around 50,000 (directly and indirectly) within our value chain.
