Agent/Patient - Language Skills/Business Skills
Native American communities are often in remote, rural areas. Businesses can be at a disadvantage in these settings.
If the language can be used as way to teach business administration, there can be a skill transferred from the knowledge of the language.
A key example being presented is how can it apply to business data analytics.
With the Native American languages like those found in the Algonquian community, there is a marker in the language for the essential hierarchy of who is being referred to, the direct/inverse alignment. Although the specifics of direct/inverse alignment are beyond the scope of this presentation, some Native American languages have this alignment for what is essentially a hierarchy of references in a statement.
For example,
He sees the bear.
The bear sees him.
In some Native American languages, the two sentences would differentiate into a sort of hierarchy of humans, animate creatures, and inanimate objects. Humans shares communities and their perspective makes sense to be prioritized for understanding events. Let's call this perspective ? for the perspective that can change, but is the primary reference point.

In the graph above, the perspective would be the human seeing a small group of bears, composed of the slope ß of the line of sight. The difference from each individual bear to this line is ε.
In terms of the use in some Native American languages of a hierarchy of human-animate creatures-inanimate objects as well as the example sentences above, we have the above graph. If we consider ε as inanimate, we have:
Human + animate creatures + inanimate objects
? + ßx + ε = y
This will make more sense in the free online course.
The goal is to teach data analytics based on the familiarity of students with their Native American languages, which in turn can create technical business skills in the community.
From the previous exercise, the goal is to teach overfitting of data and related issues by means of graphs like the following:

The reason this solution has Agent/Patient in the title is because the languages tend to use what could be called affecting versus effecting.
Going back to the graphs, a change in terrain could alter the positions of the bears. However, it does not necessarily have a direct cause and effect relation...it is essentially agent/patient. This helps to understand the cutting edge of data analytics today.
Going back to overfitting as shown in the image above, overfitting is not ideal. This will be explained in the online course. However, a general agent/patient perspective analogous to terrain affecting the bears is more of how data analytics works, especially in terms of what is called data training.
In terms of other applications of agent/patient, there is what is called Bayesian Inference, which also will be presented in the online course.
The solution can benefit multiple communities. However, the leadership is not part of any specific community.
The solution appears to be a creative approach to a problem.
- Pilot
The solution appears that is could help or inspire many communities.
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development, etc.)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design, data analysis, etc.)
- No
- Support the creation and growth of Native owned businesses and promote workforce programs in tribal communities.
It appears to be a unique application of agent/patient and direct inverse, as found in many Native American languages.
To reach as many communities as possible.
By means of the measuring the learning outcome from the online course.
Native American communities can be able to use their familiarity with their own languages as a resource for the creation and flourishing of new as well as existing businesses.
The core technology being taught is data analytics as well as the foundations of accounting automation, especially cost and managerial accounting.
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
- Ancestral Technology & Practices
- Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning

The project necessitates people from the various Native American communities because the project is based upon the various languages of their communities that utilize the direct/inverse alignment.
The business model is to provide business data analytics course for Native America communities based upon familiarity in the community with features of the Native American languages that apply to data analytics. Funding is likely to be by means of grants.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
The plan is to operate by means of grants.
There are not any examples at this moment.
