Improving the lives of children in underprivileged community
My solution to improve to lack of education in underserved and underprivileged communities would be to build a curriculum that helps the children learn about different career options as well as community development through these careers so that they can have a better future .My idea lies in creating a curriculum that involves hands on experiments, real life situations, and knowledge of political rights so that these children can reach their true potential. I have seen many children and underserved communities not survive pandemics ,natural disasters and calamities because they are not prepared and don’t have the knowledge about what to do . I want to build a curriculum to educate children about various stem careers like medicine, computer science and artificial intelligence ,mathematics and statistics do they they can learn and implement those changes in the situations they see in their communities. I want them to learn about basic medical procedures like first aid and cpr so that they can provide some immediate care if anyone requires medical attention unexpectedly as well as computer science and artificial intelligence to solve issues like consistent power supply ,transportation issues .Another very important skull that I want to include ik thr curriculum is disaster management and how rural communities can prepare for the next pandemic .
My solution aims to serve the youth in underprivileged, underserved and disabled communities . I want to build the curriculum and deliver the content in such a way that they acquire lifelong skills on how to innovate and look at the best in your problems in order to solve them ,because there’s so much more than what’s given in the textbook that could happen . I want to provide Stem education, as well as provide them knowledge on child rights and disaster management skills because u think they are absolutely essential for children and teenagers in those communities because often from my experiences volunteering in orphanages, differently abled homes I have seen that many individuals are mistreated ,bullied and are usually unable to help themselves out in those situations. The solution will impact their lives in various holistic ways ,as the stem education will teach them how to use technology ,basics of how to react in emergent medical situations, it will In still a passion for innovation and how to adapt to situations if they get worse .Additionally I would want to educate them about child rights because they need to be aware of what to do when they are feeling mistreated ,uncomfortable or abused by someone’s actions ,because an individual thru trust or know is not going to always be there ,so they need to learn how to be independent and face their struggles ,and help them be self-reliant .
My solution to the lack of stem and digital learning and overall making the world a better place for differently abled and underprivileged children consists of a few ideations combined to create it .We aspire to build specific curriculums focused on various stem subjects that will help them resolve the various issues faced in their community. We plan on building curriculums for medicine ,advancing technology ,child rights ,disaster management skills and more .We are going to teach them these topics not in a textbook manner but through hands on experiments, real life situations, case studies and opportunities. This method of learning would enable them to use it in different or sudden situations and retain thus information for the rest of their lives to help people, for instance we would teach them first aid and CPR to start with if there were any medical emergencies and we would also want to teach them how to use technology because it is an integral part of innovation and problem solving .Since many govt schools have shut down due to the financial crisis in the pandemic ,and many students had to drop out because of this as well ,we aim to give them electronic devices and a survival kit too which would constitute of nutritious food ,Covid essentials and help them survive in tough times .
From my various experiences volunteering at orphanages ,teaching children in Govt school and even interning at a children’s hospital I have come to see that even a lot of children in middle school don’t know how to react or what to do in a lot of the situations in which them or their communities are facing issues .A lot of government school children had to drop out of school or have had difficulty in transitioning to online school because they are not able to afford electronic devices nor do they have the technological skills for digital learning .While I was at one of the orphanages and govt schools I went to while implementing the public health initiative with Girl up I asked a lot of students about how they were really feeling ,what was one thing that scared them about growing up and they said that they wanted to be educated and become something in life ,to have jobs so that their whole family can have the basic requirements of food ,clothing and shelter .As most government school teachers are unmotivated, under qualified because they don’t get paid enough to manage their household’s either ,there is a learning gap and they are not able to grasp intermediate concepts because their basics aren’t clear .Another reason i wanted to include building a curriculum for both disaster management and child rights is because a lot of the children are forced to work heavy labour jobs ,are married off at young ages and are physically and sexually abused . I have come to understand because I am also a campaign leader for child rights ,for child abuse and Labour with a non-profit (child rights and you ) and after speaking to then and understanding the struggles they are facing I have realised that they need to be educated on how they can protect themselves in the situation.

Stemforgood is an equitable education non profit where we provide STEM education to underprivileged and disabled girls of grades 5-10 through STEM specific curriculums, hands on experiments, resources, opportunities so that students can unleash their true potential.
We would want to create more empowerment among young science aspirations in rural countries,by driving sessions ,campaigns and projects to this project we hope to provide education to those in underrepresented and underrepresented and underserved communities that need it the most .As a lot of children in underprivileged communities don’t have access to digital learning .For the reason a lot of them had to drop out of schools during the pandemic because a lot of government schools had shut down because they didn’t have any food to eat and hygiene products so I would really want to provide them with the funding I receive from SOLVE MIT.
On April 15th I would virtually visit the ngo’s that we have partnered up with in India and Africa to understand their needs and necessities on a deeper level like how many digital devices they would require, how much food they require for a particular amount of time .After understanding the needs and necessities of the children in each ngo for the next 15 days my team and I will be ordering the smartphones buying rice ,grains ,biscuits at a wholesale rate from local shops and we would be packing the essentials in the box .Simultaneously our curriculum building t am would work on building team would also curriculums to help the children implement what they have learnt into real life situations. Then after 15 days on 16th April I would send out the electronic devices ,essential items box and stem kits to the underprivileged children that we had communicated with earlier .We will teach them how to use the electronic devices and the functions they would learn necessary to attend the online class with our team .
We hope to continue this event for the long time we would hold classes for the children 4 days a week in different STEM fields such as computer ,science ,medicine ,math etc so they can work towards their aspirations.
Our goals for this project are that the students that we are providing education to are learning something new everyday ,and as the main aim of our project is to help underprivileged children use STEM for social good we would need them to use STEM skills that have learnt in our classes such as we plan to teach them basic First aid and CPR to help those in their communications that are in need of medical attention. We would also be keeping small revision quizzes and tests every 2 weeks to understand where their learning gaps and help them learn from their mistakes .One of our other goals is to help them to learn how to use electronic devices for digital learning.
For the reason that we will be helping differently ambled children in African ,in rehabilitation centres and orphanages we hope to give them resources best suited to their learning and give them equal opportunities like everyone else .Stemforgood would also host stem competitions where the students would have to present their projects in the science fair and show a real life use of the scientific model that they have created .We would also be giving out scholarship based on their scientific projects ,this will help them boost their creativity ,confidence and innovative thinking .Additionally, since all of these students cannot afford secondary school education, there is this exam called the NMMS exam depending on it they pass the exam ,only do the girls qualify to receive secondary education .Our goal would be to help the students prepare for their exams so that they can receive free secondary education and therefore finally give them hope for the future to continue their studies and follow their aspirations .We plan to complete every specific curriculum (whether it be medicine ,astrophysics) in 2 months through live teaching sessions ,simulations ,hands on experiments and small revision based quizzes or tests every two weeks to better prepare them for their school or extrernal exams .
We would measure the success of our initiative by the method the children implement what they have learnt in real life situations and how their perspective would be to look at the food in every situation.Through the Stemforgood we aim to tutor and mentor over a 1000+ girls and our success would also depend on how many children we reach in the most rural and deprived communities and give them access to resources, opportunities and technology .We also aim to give them the basic right to education .We would also be exposing them to digital learning for the first time and teaching them how to use technology because after Covid since the govt schools had shut down they haven’t been able to have had access to live classes ,so we hope to teach yhese girls STEM in an innovative way so they can retain this information for the rest of their lives .After the first set of technology devices ,stem kits and essential items kits we distribute through the funding we would also host a fundraiser to show our impact and what we would do with the money that we have received in donations .After we get established through taking a few classes and providing girls with basic necessities we aim to raise a 1000 YAG and reach atleast a 100 more girls through this initiative and provide them with essential items, education and courage .

I have started my non profit organisation because I wanted to create an impact in the lives of those that have inspired me to do better as person .Starting Stemforgood was a process and journey that I have enjoyed throughly and grown from .These initiatives that I have led through my non-profits that I have built over the months has helped me to understand different perspectives from people of various backgrounds and has helped me to understand different perspectives and become a leader that motivates my team to work harder and inspire others .During the process of my initiatives like the public health initiative and teaching the medicine curriculum to children in a rehabilitation center in Africa ,I have always asked our target audience what they would require from us and tried to innovate on the forms of teaching through hands on experiments, real life situations, and opportunities to give them the best quality of education according to their needs and empower the youth and bridge the learning gap in stem .
I have taken ownership of my activities through communication ,listening to my teammates ideas ,scheduling and planning events for the cause that I am working towards as well we trying to make the best out of every situation and innovating to solve the problems that might have arised. I initiated the activities by working effecticentlly with my team and work in a collaborative environment by using each members strengths to help our organisation grow to impact more individuals around the world .
Stemforgood has successfully collaborated with the ELCIA trust to expand our public health initiative to more government schools and reached over 120 more children through it .We have also collaborated with Ruthuchakra and have done the fundraising for pad vending machines and effectively collaborated our ideals to install pad vending machines in government schools. We are also in the process of collaborating with a self defence academy in my city of Bangalore to provide self defence classes to girls in underprivileged areas as a part of Girlup Bangalore ‘s safety scheme initiative where we teach girls how to protect themselves both physically and emotionally in dangerous situations.Stemforgood has also grown into a global youth led organisation of 51 members through collaborations with various organisations that also believed in our goals . Through our African team and their boarding school we have collaborated With a rehabilitation center in Africa and currently teaching the children that are differently abled our medicine curriculum and also how they could implement their STEM skills for doing good in this wield . I have also collaborated on my health inequity project with a youth led organisation,Aarogya sanaste and hosted a bake sale fundraiser to help provide a piles patient in a government hospital in need of urgent treatment funds for his treatment. We have raised over 25,000 ruppes for his treatment .
