Educate Balochistan
Balochistan is Pakistan's largest province in size and the least developed province.
Balochistan hosts 3.6 million children, out of whom 2.3 million (70%) are out of school.
Considering Balochistan's arid and barren landscape, the density of people is very thin and spread over rural areas.
Teachers refuse to travel to such areas to teach the students of rural Balochistan as the land is also run by militants which means the students don't study and as a result are attracted to militancy.
The locals don't recognize out-of-town people easily.
More than technology, this solution is based on a hybrid system.
'One teacher schools' are a series of schools that are created in Balochistan concentrated in rural Balochistan. These schools are based in the open-air, kutcha building. Each age group has only single combined class.
We are training one teacher from every rural area that has more than 100 children in the locality. The training is via Zoom and materials designed over Google drive as in-person training by our professional professors are not suitable. The people are more welcoming towards locals than externals.
Umeed-e-Sehar is in process of creating a mobile application that will contain all resources of teachers in a single place, take attendance of teachers and students every day, map out the locations of schools, and where further development can take place.
This serves the children of Balochistan.
These 2.3 million that are out of school will be targeted and the impact of these will translate to all 12.4 million people of Balochistan as the children will help excel in the infrastructure in the future.
Currently, they have no infrastructure, no internet connection, no schools, etc. hence they have no shot at education.
One Teacher schools will help train the teachers and construct schools. Training of said teachers will take place in central areas where internet connections are available and from here they will be disseminated to rural areas.
In our team, we have included the 'Sardars' (Leaders) of the tribes of the rural areas and taken them on board.
The teachers we have trained are locals hence they have a high acceptance rate.
We have been creating this program for more than a year and have a strong foothold in the areas.
We have helped create solar-powered schools, tube-wells, etc. in an area where there is severe drought and survival is only rainwater hence the locals are very welcoming towards our people.
- Other
- Growth
Financial constraints have affected our progress as we are not able to create pukka schools with lights and fans in an inhospitable environment.
As we invest most in our infrastructure we are at a stop in our attempt to create a mobile application. We need professionals that could help us out in this regards.
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
This is a new solution to an area not been tested before.
This will be able to help all 12.4 million people of Balochistan. Going forward, this will help decrease crimes and malnutrition etc.
Enroll all 2.3 million children in Balochistan in one teacher schools.
Number of children enrolled in school
Attendance of children
Centralized tests of all students and comparison of scores.
We want to include every student in Balochistan into our schools.

Our model is purely based on crowdsourcing and fundraising.
We will be looking to market local art and crops to a greater market as currently, the locals have no outreach. All profits will be invested in the community.
