Naijamathstutors
Every year, a third (500,000) of the students who go in for Senior Certificate Exam SSCE in Nigeria, fail mathematics.
This is mostly due to the fact that they lack qualified teachers and relevant materials.
Because Maths is a compulsory subject for any field of study after secondary school, many students end up stopping their education.
Naijamathstutors will create video lessons and materials that would cover topics in Mathematics at all levels in the secondary school curriculum. These will be loaded on to the application where students can watch and learn at their own pace and time.
Our target audience is made up of low to middle class families with children between ages 10 - 18 years who want to give their kids sound education.
The solution will improve overall performance in mathematics and open several opportunities for their kids to further their education.
This would reduce illiteracy and involvement in crime
On the team, we have Maths teachers with over 10 years experience and two software developers.
Together, we would combine teaching experience and technological innovations to ensure optimal functioning.
- Enable personalized learning and individualized instruction for learners who are most at risk for disengagement and school drop-out
- Concept
We need a mobile or web based app to host our lessons and materials. This would enable students access them with little data on the go.
To achieve this, we need about $8,000 to create the app, purchase cameras and laptops and also employ staff.
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
It would fix a major problem in the educational sector of the country which in turn would improve the economy of the people.
Within the next one year, we would have employed at least 20 people and also impacted 1,000 students in secondary schools around the country.
Number of users on the app.
Number of teachers creating content and helping the students.
We expect this solution to not only improve the quality of education, many people will get jobs in the process.
This would place us on a platform to fulfill SDG goals 1,2,4 and 17.
The core technology is made up of software and mobile applications, video lessons access via data or wifi
