Annika Children's Initiatives
Most children are dropping from school due to several challenges. Amongst other challenges is the issue of poverty. Most communities in Malawi are not able to support the children In their education. For instance, most school-aged children in Malawi do not have school uniforms and they end up wearing torn or inappropriate attire to school. A uniform can instill a sense of pride and belonging and can even improve learning by reducing distraction, sharpening focus on school work, and making the classroom a more serious environment, allowing students to perform better academically. Some children walk over two miles to school every day with tattered shoes or no shoes at all.
Annika Children Initiatives works with learners, families, community leaders, and local governments to support the basic needs of school-aged children through uniforms and durable shoes.
Annika Children's Initiatives provide mentorship to the children in the form of counselling, career guidance. Computers and projectors are used during the process. Role models are exposed from their different communities and address the children so that these children may have a clear picture of reasons of doing school.
Inside these projects, Annika Children's initiatives has a basketball program to cultivate fast thinking and learning in the children.
Annika children Initiatives serves children from schools who are vulnerable and at risk of dropping away from school and helps those who already drop out to return to school by dealing with their challenges by providing basic needs and mentorship. Our target population is children from Chingoli Primary School which has total enrolment of 2039 student, 1O13 are girls and 1026 are boys. If we are going to be grow with enough resources and funds we are planning to reach out to the whole Malawi.
Annika Children's Initiatives has community coordinators who are responsible for all projects. These coordinators are originally from the same communities. The coordinators works with schools, community leaders and community volunteers. Our initiatives have purchased two sewing machines, hired local tailors to sew uniforms for school-aged children, locally sourced all fabric, and developed a basketball program, hired a basketball coach to train local coaches to teach others about the sports, and donated appropriate sized equipment purchased in South Africa.
Our team engage into survey to find out what the students are passing through and find appropriate solutions to the challenges the children are passing through.
Our team visit the students regularly in their villages where they are coming from to understand their situation and provide guidance and support to the children.

Our team believes in gathering every relevant knowledge that can bring impact and progress.
Annika children's initiatives is well determined in rendering it's services to different communities. This is seen in past two years Annika children Initiatives has been running only from the pockets of the board members.
Though this is the case, Annika children's initiatives is struggling financially. This has affected some of the projects. For instance, our team conducted a survey of needy children from chingoli primary school. These children are at risk of dropping out from school because they are vulnerable, some are orphans. From their villages to school walking a big distance without shoes and on an empty stomach.
In January 2022, these children were heavily affected by tropical cyclone Ana. This destroyed their houses and lost everything such that these children were finding shelter from school premises together with their guardians. Our team managed to help these affected families so that their children should not drop out from school.
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design, data analysis, etc.)
Our solution is providing a significantly improved approach because it is not just giving out school uniforms and shoes to the school-aged children but it is committed in seeing the children successful by providing mentorship by career talks and guidance. The communities where the children are coming from are also empowered with knowledge of how to take care of the children, importance of education and child protection from early marriages.
Our Solution will help more students to complete school and these students will be reliable people in the society. They will definitely stand for the Initiative and help the generation that is coming ahead as well. This will surely stand.
We would like to see most children not dropping out from school. We would like to see most children reaching tertiary education. We would like to see communities transforming and living to their potentials. We would like enable vibrant and heathy communities with sustainable livelihoods. This will be possible by supporting the children with the required resources and mentorship until they reach their potentials. With the support from the communities where the children are coming from this will be very possible.
Next five years, our Initiative will be able to pay school fees for the children at Secondary school and tertiary level.
There is indeed a great progress and impact. This is has been seen in the performance of the children we have supported so far. The children has greatly improved. Those who were not performing better has improved greatly. This impact is discovered by keeping records of performance of the children from their teachers.
The school drop out rate has completely gone low because our initiatives encourages parents to take their children to school. Every village is well monitored to make sure that every child is going to school.
By distributing school uniforms, we are improving learning by reducing distraction, sharpening focus on schoolwork, and making the classroom a more serious environment, allowing students to perform better academically. the performance will make the children to reach to their goal and become useful people in the community.
When we are visiting the children in their respective homes we use GPS Cameras to keep the location of the house, distance from the school and some other details. this is an app. this help to have clear evidence of what we are talking about and the proof of the work that has been done.
We also use computers to compile the data of the children participating in basketball, records of children who has received uniforms and shoes.
